The heat's not gonna bother me since I'm looking at the bottom part of Florida to live. it's basically gonna be calories for me to burn when I start jogging and exercising outdoors. NY just got a 60 degree day the other day and my family was acting like "it's scorching hot" 😂😂😂😂 There's tons of things to do in the sunshine state. I've just heard about Sarasota in Florida and was checking it out and it looks wonderful too.

Can you do a video talking about CDDs? Sounds like a huge turn off to living in certain areas of Florida, such as St Augustine. Is it included in your mortgage amount? Seems like if you get a mortgage for X for a house, your mortgage can actually be X + an insane amount of tens of thousands of dollars for the CDD. If you could talk about this that would be great. Thanks.

You're welcome! I have heard that before, but I think it is mostly a myth. I have helped many people move here as a realtor, and have seen their paystubs. Most do pretty well for themselves👍 But I'm sure it also heavily depends on WHERE you move to in FL combined with the job you are seeking.

@MichaelBordenaro 4 жыл бұрын
Good question! St Petersburg and Lakeland FL have some pretty decent Farmers Markets. We also have some down here in Miami too. Only thing I notice is that at the farmers market near me they bring produce literally from South America so I think that sort of defeats the point of the farmers market. But being vegan is a lifestyle choice and I think that can really be done anywhere these days. I have friends here that are vegan and we have plenty of restaurants that cater to this lifestyle as well 👌

Great info for potential residents! Regarding colleges, I went to FIU in Miami and would highly recommend it because it's a public university, so cheaper for residents and has some excellent programs including nursing, architecture and even law. You're dead on about the beaches in the keys, aside from that my personal take on it is the keys are more of a vacation spot or 2nd home, it's not for everyone as far as permanent residency. Keep in mind, Key West is a 3 and a half hour drive from the mainland of Miami and the job prospects there are limited to the hospitality field.

Great video! Miami Beach is definitely my top choice. I want the ocean view and beach right in my backyard, but it's also conducive to nice bike rides to Miami proper. You gonna hate me for this question …😊 we are young family (2 kids in primary school) and would like to move near Miami but not TO Miami and therefore the places we are looking are Hollywood, Pompano beach, Deerfiled beach, Boca Raton and Delray beach (and West Palm Beach but might be too far from Miami? and we can get less for our money) Which area do you think would be the safest / best for a young family that looking to buy a house with swimming pool & garden near good schools (budget around 500-600K) (and not an apartment and we are not crazy about gated community)? By all means, if this question is way too general, then don’t worry about it…thank you !

You’re welcome Silva! The first thing I would say is of course to make sure you make the move legally. I’m not an expert in that so I’m not exactly sure what that might entail for you. I am a gay man and retiring early at 61. There's a lot I like about Florida... I've got a sister in Naples ... but, well, I'm reluctant to live in a red state. I've been out since the age of 18 and have only lived in "gay-friendly" cities (NYC, Philadelphia, Los Angeles). Are there any places, other than Wilton Manors, where you think I might find like-minded people and a friendly gay community? I've got two dogs so green space -- even city green space -- is important to me. I need access to culture. If you can help, it'd be much appreciated.

What are your thoughts on buying land in Cape Coral and sitting on it until I build on it in 10 years when I retire from Massachusetts?
@MichaelBordenaro
@MichaelBordenaro 4 жыл бұрын
Good question! I think it's a good idea if 1. You are certain you would rather build your own house, than buy an existing one. And 2. You can afford to pay the property taxes and any other costs associated with it for 10 years. That does sound a bit far away, say for example, if the land cost you $50k and you are paying $700/year in property taxes then thats not so bad and would be a substantial savings over paying 100k for that same land 10 years down the road👍

There are many canal-front homes with Gulf access in Cape Coral; probably no vacant canal-front lots though. In 2010, a friend bought a very nice, 2000sf, canal-front pool home in Cape Coral for $90K. Today, it's $350K+

@@prettygirlus9008 I'm thinking of maybe not getting one directly on the Canal. I believe that a seawall is required and I am not sure how that affects Flood Insurance. There are also things like protected species. The City of Cape Coral is home to several protected species including the Burrowing Owl, Gopher Tortoise and the Eastern Indigo Snake. That can affect the ability to build on your own property if they live on it. Do you or your friends know anything about that?
