When I leave Edinburgh, I can not help missing it. For me it can encompass all of things about UK history and present, and a typical city suitable for life, friendly people and with deep cultural richness.
Got my degree in Bournemouth. The beach area is full of people in the summertime lol but it's really a nice place to live (compare to other towns in that area). The uni had more international students in recent years so you can feel the diversity is growing.
@cbrtdgh42103 жыл бұрын
Christchurch is an even nicer area, less crime and more historic. The beach is also less busy down that way as well.

I like Brighton a lot! You missed Scarborough and the Lake District, these are very nice tourist attractions in summer. I have been to these places and many other places where you just mentioned such as Bath, Windsor, Oxford, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, York, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh, not to mention London which I like the most. Hope I can visit UK again soon 😍

You can now start a new series to introduce more and more about the whole UK because many Hong Kong people and families migrate to UK this year. Most of them are unfamiliar with the living in UK. You can introduce 1-2 cities each time to talk more about the houses, markets, transport, parks, shopping places, food, hospital, historic places, etc. to them. You can invite your friends who live in these cities to introduce. I believe more HK people will watch your videos.

Good video! I had spent my university life in Reading and had travelled to Liverpool for the football matches. And quite honestly I didn't see Liverpool as a city I want to stay by that time. But, few months ago I moved from HK to Liverpool (considering the price of everything is fairly competitive), and it completely changed my mind. Liverpudlians are nice and welcoming, however their accent can be tough to me, they are wonderful people! LOVE THIS CITY!

London is a fascinating place to live, to study and to explore in. Another must see is Bath, Bristol in the west country, where you will feel awed by the vast and endless greenest pastureland, often interspersed with beautiful canola crops.

Have been living in Bristol for 3 years for my undergrad degree. Lovely city, nice people. Still remember when it’s Christmas, my neighbour gave us a box of chocolate. They always willing to help! I am currently living in Exeter right now, small town, nice weather. Especially it’s close to Exmouth, beautiful beach. The only thing I hate here is the seagulls. Still prefer living in Bristol, more like a city, while Exeter is like a small town.

I had previously lived in Beaconsfield and Guernsey. I really enjoy my stay in Beaconsfield, it is a little old town, peaceful, posh and close to London. Guernsey is a nice island especially when the weather is getting warm, however, it is not easy to live there as you will need to apply for a resident permit in order to stay in the local market or you will need to pay extremely high rent for the open market, I last heard the rent for a single bedroom is now up to £1500-£2000/month. That's unbelievable!

My sister lives in Christchurch, along the coast from Bournemouth. It's more historic, less crime and 'chavs' and the beach is emptier around there and Southborne, I definitely recommend it! Recently I rode the rentable Beryl bikes along the coast there, Southborne to Sandbanks in Poole on a sunny day - felt like I was in LA or south of France! If you want Chinese food however, you'll be disappointed. I've only had authentic food in London so far - Jinli is a pretty good Sichuan restaurant.

Bath is always my love. I did my PhD there and welcomed my baby girl. Full of memory. The baby also felt so upset during the last several days in Bath, when my wife and I packed our luggage. She lived there over her first two years.
Bournemouth (Dorset) is an excellent place !! I feel I left some part of me there forever. Portsmouth is also one of my favorite. London is a great place for travelers, tons of great museums, historical monuments and histories.

We have travelled almost half of England since we moved to UK a year ago. Bath, Norwich and Newcastle upon Tyne are our most favorites cities. London is great only if you work or travel there. Liverpool is awesome too. We now live in South and the weather is better than north but it is a bit pricy for housing.

A very quick and brief introduction of all places in UK, each one has its own merits subject to individual preference. I lived in Manchester way back 30 years ago when I was a university student there. Currently, I'm living in south London of Kingston, one of the sought-after small towns in the back garden of London. It's an affluent and trendy place for the middle-class professionals. Other nearby places like Richmond, Sutton, Wimbledon etc. are also good, though they are bit pricy.

Quirky and edgy can be translated as 標奇立異/ 前衛/酷. 「文青」is more like 文藝青年. I don't know what is the equivalent term in English. A typical 文青 place could be the book stores or coffee shops near university area in Taipei, or Rive Gauche in Paris where young writers and artists can be together to discuss and exchange ideas. Which part of the UK or London can we find similar places for 文青? Oxford? Cambridge?

And you said let you know when I am there(if you remember 😅) I postponed my plan and will go to the uk few months later. Will stay in the UK in 2022. Anyway, thank you for your professional report. I lived in Chichester and Bath for study. Both are very good to live in. Chichester is just nearby London and also nearby my personal favorite, Brighton. People in South West are mostly super friendly. On the other hand, Bath is very good to live in as well, with the very best architecture around.
Hi Susie, this is a very informative video and we foreigners need that information from an insider like you. One thing I wish to learn more is all those slangs like quirky, soggy... Often, for a (HK) Chinese like me, it is much better if these slangs can be explained in Chinese as you just did in the video, it will take forever for it to be explained in English to really get a sense of it/them. Thank you.

As a BNO citizens myself, I actually planned to settle in Blackpool first through John Connor news. Or until I managed to earn sufficient funds to find another house to live. About looking for a new job in UK, there's more I need to be considered, like becoming truck driver, bus driver, delivery services, restaurants, supermarkets or maybe railway services as well. Btw, I'm still waiting for visa approval from Home office. ☺
