I've read the book once and watched the film like 3 times now, so i really like it, i love the atmosphere, the scenography, the score, etc etc. makes me wanna live in a swamp lmao. I just wish they kept more of the nature symbolism and characters from the book and their significance (Big Red, the seagulls, why the snow geese are important, etc.), I know the movies address these like. once. So the audience are kinda just sat there like ??okay?? whenever they're mentioned (at least i do). But that's just me being nitpicky

also wanted to mention that I watched it with my mother last night and she asked me "is this going to be a cry-fest?" and I replied "I don't know, I don't remember" because I truly couldn't recall and at the end we were both sobbing lmao

Thank you, but wasn't the movie over two hours? So she did push him that day? I confused about her the sequence , she fought him off from assaulting her, so why was she back on the tower with him? I may need to buy this DVD.

this is a movie on Netflix! unfortunately, I have to cut the majority of it out due to copyright which is why there are moments that affect the storyline cut out! but basically, she lured him to the top of the tower so that she could do it as she didn't want to constantly live in fear of him seeking her out to hurt her! 🩶

@@ryannrodkey5669 thank you. So he was attacking her. I thought when she best him and told him she'd kill him, that was that. I guess I won't buy it. That pins and needles feeling especially R word, would make me angry. They say it's fiction, but I think it happened especially in what's known as the dirty South. What I didn't understand is why the man named Tate didn't meet her at the beach. Thank you!🙏🏾

Reading the book helps. It must’ve been really fun trying it into a film.

Spoilers!!!!! .......... ........... I'm glad it wasn't Tate. It would've been an obvious plot. I haven't read the book. I could understand Jumpin' trying to help her, but him being a black man from the south in the 1960's, he would have been found guilty just for his skin color alone. I thought Chase had just fallen. The film suggested that the metal crates were not mounted (loosen). So truly, I thought he didn't look very carefully at metal crates and tripped and fell over. To my surprise, it was her. I'm happy she fought back. I'm saddened she got tainted. He was a menace, though. He would have kept coming back to bother her and maybe even kill her if he got drunk like her father. Overall, I really liked the film except the sexual assault part. Anytime that's in a film, it just upsets me that many women have gone through that. I also hated that the attorney or lawyer (idk who he was) called Jumpin' "boy." But, it was a common way to call (disrespectfully) a Black person in the south. I really liked your reaction 😊 sorry for the long comment 😅

oh wow!! I had no idea that 'boy' was used in that way!! thank you for letting me know! and I'm so glad you enjoyed watching with me! I do agree that Tate would be an obvious choice for sure. I was happy that she fought back and was choosing to not live in fear anymore as well! I just wish she didn't have to do that, but then we wouldn't have had a story 🤣 overall, a wonderful movie! 🩶
