"We've been seeing this stuff for the last three years, which is a long time for an indie game." No. No it's not. Stardew Valley took almost 5 years. Three years is closer to the average time it takes to make an indie game, especially for solo devs. You forget that while it's easy for most games to just buy a couple asset packs and copy and paste code from online, a lot of games don't do that. Even for AAA studios it takes a long time. Metroid Dread took 15 years, Diablo III took 11 years, Duke Nukem: Forever took 15 years, Final Fantasy 15 took 10 years. Security Breach took two years and that's with a whole game studio behind it. Taking a long time doesn't mean it's never coming out, it usually means the creator wants to make an actual whole game rather than a 15 minute experience like most horror game devs do (not that it's a bad thing to do that, but the amount of time it takes to make a 15 minute experience is not nearly as comparable as the time it takes to make a full game that has hours of gameplay). EDIT: Literally 8 days ago the creator of EXP: War Trauma was retweeting on the game's twitter page, which I doubt they'd do if it were canceled. Just last year they posted 13 minutes of gameplay. He also took a break to make a whole ass other game which explains the long development span as well. They're also making a sequel to their other game. This is common among devs, sometimes devs will get burnt out from making a game and then make other games to recover, or take breaks.
@kitsunemusicisfire7 ай бұрын
It isn't uncommon for an indie game to take a long time, making a game is an incredibly difficult thing to do and most indie developers announce their games at least a year after they started development of the game. It's more likely that these games just got announced too early or the scope is too big so it's taking time. These aren't developers with huge studios to help them out or publishers to help with funding, these are games made by people who likely have 9-5 jobs, families to take care of, hobbies, and actual lives to go through everyday. Don't just strike them out as dead games just because they take a reasonable amount of time to make. Into the Darkness can be completed in less than an hour, which is why it had a shorter development span, and that's not even to mention the minimized amount of gameplay, as well as reduced need for assets since you don't leave the same area much.

Idk where you’re getting this information on ILL from. The last gameplay we got was last year, you can see it on their KZbin channel. The animations you showed that were supposedly “released for the game” are actually just short horror animations that the lead developers have made. Nowhere on their social media accounts do they say that they are for the game. They haven’t even posted those videos on the Team Clout KZbin channel. The only people claiming that those animations are actually for the game are those channels that make “(indie game) NEW GAMEPLAY 2024” videos with clips from either different periods of development or, in this case, unrelated animations made by the developers. I do want to say though that I am also suspicious of the game because of the developers history as mobile game designers and the lack of updates, but 2 of the 3 points you use don’t make sense and are generally misinformation.
@KazzaGamesTV7 ай бұрын
There's been no actual gameplay in the last two years. All the "gameplay" I featured in the video is from 2021. They posted other stuff here and there, but nothing can be considered "gameplay". Plus, the new channel of the studio reposted old footage. The footage of the "game" is a mess all over the internet, and the fact that the developers don't care if people post stuff on their behalf most likely means that there's no game in the first place, and they love the free marketing of their art work.
@CHILLSHARK20037 ай бұрын
@@KazzaGamesTV What new channel are you talking about? Team Clout is the only official channel for the game and it has 2 gameplay teasers, the one you showed in your video and the other from the Future Games show presentation in 2022 that also includes some more cinematic scenes. Also, as I said before, the footage you've shown in this video (12:38-14:15) isn't related to the game in any way besides the fact that the designers working on the game also made them. The footage that is actually related to the game seems to show that the game is a survival horror about a person who ends up in an area taken over by zombie-esque creatures capable of mutating themselves. It's common for channels to re-upload content, and most indie developers don't take any action against it. For instance, the War of the Worlds game has many channels reuploading footage from different stages of its development, yet it's clear that the game exists and is actively being worked on. Just because the developers seem not to care doesn't automatically mean that their game is a scam, and there's no evidence that the people at Team Clout "love the free marketing of their work."

Also this does not mean I'm saying these games won't come out but I won't say they will since it's dependent upon time.

The thing about ill is that people got more excited with the "gameplay footage" was because of Leon's VA

I'm still waiting for news on Deathground. As a huge Dino Crisis fan, I was so excited for this game. I even backed it on Kickstarter. But now I am starting to have my doubts that i will ever see the light of day.

The thing with ILL is that- when I looked at it, as a fellow artist, I usually thought it was basically artwork. Are ya familiar with the trope of "Fake Game"- stuff like Vermis, Valle Verde, Persona 5 Imagining? I seen it as this, and I am more disapointed it became the game everyone was waiting for, despite well- just being an non interactive artwork

Did you actually look up Ill? I just went through their socials and their patreon seems fairly active. As of April 2024 they say they're almost ready for release? Do you think this could be true or that that's part of the stalling?

I can't remember the name of the game at all (for all i knowit could've came out with no fan fair), but there was this game announced at a Playstation direct where you, played as a little demon creature in the viking age. there wasn't much shown other than stealth gameplay, but I was excited none the less.

The developer for Wronged Us responded to a question on the Steam forum on June 28th saying they're currently porting the game from UE4 to UE5.

I remember when I commented "lol this game is not real, it's just a blender cinematic and it's never coming out" under one of ILL clips, the developer got onto me and attacked me.... and that was years ago and game is not real of course

Paranormal Tales is definitely a game that would take longer to make. It's supposed to be a bigger project with Don't Scream being a fun little side thing for Halloween that ended up growing a bit more (that's why it has a barebones gimmick as its main draw). Going from the page description, it's very clearly an ambitious project that's long term and maybe Don't Scream can help them fund the project more (that isn't entirely out of the realm of plausibility, David Szymanski did this with giving Squirrel Stapler and The Pony Factory standalone releases and Tim Oxton with releasing Flathead, a small Silkbulb Test spinoff which coincidentally is published by DreadXP, where Squirrel Stapler and The Pony Factory were part of the Dread X Collection 1 and 2). With some of these games, I don't think we should jump to conclusions just because blunders and scams got so much attention (same thing where we shouldn't assume that every indie developer wants to take your money and run by releasing a broken product just because, insert recent infamous AAA video game company or game here, has been a hot topic). Unless we have legit, concrete proof that these games are scams or aren't coming out (and no, taking too long to release isn't enough), it's just jumping to conclusions, I really think we should wait. Just because The Day Before happened before doesn't mean that every developer on the planet is suddenly doing it now.

It took Daisuke Amaya 5 years to make Cave Story entirely by himself. These are more intricate games which means that with a small team, it will probably take longer.

Can games stop with the "lady with a dirty unkempt hair and a white gown" trope. At this point it's so overdone that it's not scary in any situation.

sometime people mistake UE5 Scenes for a game even media talks about how someone made old game into new using ue5 but in facts its actually a portfolio scene to get hired in the industry. even the artist don't clarify this, I don't know why they do that but maybe because they see a potential and star working on it only to realize its not that easy to make video games, I am also a game environment artist.

Rides with strangers is a big one that I don’t think is coming out. It sucks because it looked so promising, but it’s been years now. At least the developer gave out refunds, but what a bummer

Ever since I've seen wronged us for the first time, I really anticipated its release. It's the one I'd like to play the most. I don't think it's fake, just a small team struggling to finish it, as in their last gameplay showcase the game looks very rough and with lots of polishing to do still. Anyway, I'd rather wait a couple more years to get a good experience than a rushed half baked one. Also, ILL looked too good to be true from the start, and their supposed trailer for it make it even clearer they either don't have any game or any idea of what to do with it, as they all bring completely different concepts and ideas.

One game I'm excited for, but also worried about, is ROUTINE. That game has been in development since before Alien Isolation came out (so yeah, LONG development time!!) It last got showed I think last year??? (maybe the year before) and we haven't seen anything since, which is why I'm worried that it's ONCE AGAIN stuck in development hell and therefore might get cancelled.... though it's gotten funding from Microsoft, so hopefully we might see it during the Microsoft showcase??? I don't know but I'm at least holding out hope 🤞
