Thank you for posting this at Ruby's video site. Fortunately, we bought her from a breeder in Florida and she is home-grown. I have heard stories of how trappers put glue on tree branches to catch greys, also. I hope more is done to stop these inhuman practices. I encourage everyone who buys a grey to be sure it is bred in their country and not a wild bird that has been trapped.

In the US, the parrots are bred. Obviously that's much easier than catching them and shipping them over.

Sadly this is not the case. There have been massive population declines in this species in over a dozen countries, due to trapping. Because of this massive trade involving thousands of birds the species will soon be 'uplisted' by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). This uplisting will hopefully help to put an end to this unsustainable trade.

I would think that getting greys from the wild is NOT necessary anymore .We have on going breeding programs around the world for domestic parrots.I use the term "domestic" losely.

It really isn’t necessary to import wild individuals of most parrot species in the trade, should really be stopped (though in most cases profit margins have drastically reduced wild capture anyways)

i must say i dont like trapping but in a way it keeps the poplation to a good rate this is just a side opinion but i must say but in the many ages native amercans caght them i hope it can stop but the poulation does not come to a over pouation
