I got so excited. There's only one invisible entity that can open doors. 30 seconds later, I'm dissapointed. FJ has far too much firepower for that event. That event should scale such that it sends more revenants at high wealth values, or buffs revenants with damage reduction and unstoppable.

​@@salemprompthous3820 It would be so amazing if flares don't just straight up expose more powerful entities, but shown some of features, because, you know.. it's DISRUPTOR flares, a makeshift anomalous grenade, it would- yes, expose the enemy, but also wildly hurt/enraged some of them, imagine revenant being half translucent and making a terrible, horror inducing scream as flare exposes it's towering frame in bent air, that's so "thing"-esc and really feels paranormal

Iguana! Start of the episode: Oh it's just an iguana not even worth sending out someone to kill it. Entire episode: it wanders your base eating rice. Zoom out: any other animals on the map.... "Nope" as iguana noms on rice. You should make it an official pet at this point.

11:45 if shambler "senses" your colonist and becomes aggressive, they always behave like a sappers, they ignore pathfinding and just destroy anything in a straight line .

Yeah had that a couple of times but it seems very random to occur. Also read the raid message very carefully… there is a shambler attack which will act like breachers without brains. Which means they dont break in a specific point they just transform your base into Swiss cheese. Those are very messy to deal with

i dont think its about the exploit. its about not designing a building that he doesnt want to change if stats get changed in future. though i would assume that the shown area didnt get updated when the sunlamps got a buff.

Hey Francis. If you find yourself in need of additional colonists, it's a great idea to use the Skip Abduction ritual. It summons an unconscious enemy to your tile, who you can then convert (if they're a match), or harvest for organs, meat, and leather if they aren't. Also great to put in the ripscanner so you can make those high-end mechs. The death refusal and skull removal means of curing mental degeneration was hilarious, and undeniably effective. Don't forget about that distress call! You'll get a shard (plus some other loot), but more than that, it's a really interesting event. Peak Anomaly experience without being too dangerous. Do. Not. Forget; you've skipped over so many already. Loving the series. Happy gaming!

14:30 Making components is actually considered a "smith" job instead of "craft". You can confirm that by mousing over the job type name. "Craft" is for making biofuel, cutting stone blocks from chunks, running the electric smelter and a few other "low level" errands that don't level up the crafting skill. "Smith" is for using the Fabrication Bench (including bionics and components), making weapons and armor, Machining Table bills and mechanitor (Biotech) errands, which all increase the crafting skill.

When the title hopping is done, please francis, tell me you'll make the anima tree scream at your enemies or traders. i just can't wait to see your colony literally outgrow the need for any mood via becoming inhuman/mass producing mind-numb serum and using mood as a weapon to haunt mere mortals. Killing the "good" archotec trees so their screams haunt people is such a lovecraftian concept that its gotta happen. given you already have vamps to create mood-terror beacons out of enemies, please bring negative mood to new heights. creating a map so maddening that a defense becomes unnecessary due to madness seems peak horror. that or you could just bump the climate of your map and only temperature-control your colony.

Don't Trust Me 2 was sullenly pouting staring at his smoke launcher when they said it was time to graduate to a heavy SMG. Today marked the beginning of the rest of Trust Me 2's Life. War Machine thought his desperate enthusiasm was what Smerk called "Useless," just like his damn smoke launcher.

Holy f**k this was amazing. I was thrown in for a loop with the empire initially, more confused when we made the baron a slave and elected to send back everyone. I was thinking- this is for the weapons, cataphract, organs, something else? But, never a million years, would have guessed what you pulled. And that remnant near the end- I felt so uneasy when that alarm went off, and then the second. It was like someone was being stalked; glad it got sorted out! :D

obelisk duplication doesn't copy bionics or any other implants, they're replaced with natural organs. You can examine them to find any of the negatives immediately. A hostile duplicate will have no side effects, so capturing them is an easy way to guarantee a good colonist, so letting this obelisk go wild isn't that bad, as duplicates are always naked. Also, any relations aren't copied over.

Burc watched his mother and his uncle Smerk whisper furiously with each other. They tried to keep it secret, but he knew - hell, everyone knew at this point - that they were fighting about who would get to be the first one to be cloned by the corrupted obelisk. As colony founders, they agreed that it should be one of them. They just couldn't agree on which one. Burc sighed. He knew that if he let this continue, those two would come to blows ... again. Loudly, he interrupted them: "You two! Come with me! Talk!" His mother looked at him. She looked a little taken aback by his commands. Then she replied: "Well, you have grown up to become quite bossy." "Yes." Burc shrugged. He didn't feel the need to add anything else to that. He waved at them and they followed him to the for once empty hospital. He closed the door behind the three of them and then looked at his mom. "Let me guess. You want to smack Uncle Smerk right now, right?" His mom grinned and answered: "Very much, yes." Uncle Smerk raised his eyebrow and smiled as well. Burc just shook his head. By now, he should have gotten used to the weird dynamic between those two. Then he said: "First off, neither of you will be duplicated by that obelisk." He held up his hand to shut down their protest. "I am not finished. We do not know if the process has any side effects or if it might change you - the originals - in some way. So how about you agree on someone else to be the guinea pig here? If all goes well, you can still fight each other for the second chance." His mother's eyes had gotten wide while he was talking. Then she turned to Smerk. "You know, my son is right." Smerk gave a curt nod and said: "Victor?" Burc's mother nodded and replied: "Victor." Burc closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm himself. How could these two nearly come to blows one moment, and be totally in sync in the next? He didn't get it. Then he turned and started leaving the room, while grumbling under his breath: "And mom, I wish you'd beat up someone else for once." ... A few days later, as he watched his mother punch Victor (the original) in the face - again! - Burc was in no doubt that she had heard him say that.

When you want more, look up the other playthroughs he made. Murder Munchkins for instance. Unfortunately he has cheesed challanges a little too much for my liking and is a little too good for the game now days. Look up older series, you're in for a treat!

if you aren't against alittle cheese i got a tip for all them mech clusters you keep seeing. when man hunters arrive if you put walls infront of your doors then they will give up camping your doors an attack any other threats on the map including mechs (aslong as the mechs are awake) this in combination with poor animal rituals for easy manhunters makes dealing with them a whooole lot easier.

There's two kinds of shambler attacks, one type just wanders through the area and the other directly attacks your base and acts like a mixed sapper/breach raid. Make sure to read the message carefully to see which one it is. The one you summon through the ritual will always be the type that wanders around so those you can leave alone.

9:09 There are two types of "Shamblers approach" events: wandering and raid. You can tell which type of event it is by reading the event letter. Shamblers as a raid work very similar to a normal raid in that they will move to attack pathable colonists or powered turrets.

Speaking of ancient dangers, you should actually go explore some ancient dangers on map squares nearby! You could get new recruits and find luciferium, as well as lots of other useful items.

14:05 I turn on the "Count Equipped" setting and (manually) keep the counter sync'd to my number of colonists. It works for the HP and quality too. I usually also increase it by +1 so that there's always a spare for a colonist that needs it. 51:44 He was a prisoner (there was no option to RESCUE when he arrived) you had to hold for that quest that you intentionally failed. That's why he turned blue when you arrested their entourage. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" or something lol.

Count equipped. Thanks!! With over 6500hours (according to steam) played on Rimworld, I've never realized that it's that simple to use. Maybe I'm just one of those muppets FJ keeps goin' on about 🤣🤣🤣 Always had two tailoring benches, one for capes/dusters/parkas (depending on the map tile's min/max temp, ofc), the other for hats, pants and shirts, all set to have (atleast) 1 of each lying around. Next time I'm booting up Rim, I'll definately give your way a go. On paper, it should be more efficient, looking forward to trying 😁

Toxic resistance plus a single detox kidney seems to give you full protection at the expense of a bionic part instead of 1 gene efficiency. And even that isn't necessary unless you're living in toxic fallout. I like it to give me more room to min-max my genetics.

I dont know if it has been said before or how long it has been in the game but if you press "z" you can search and locate any entity on the map. So finding an item hidden in a pile of shelves is not so bad with that.

Ive seen that a bioferrite longsword is the best melee craftable weapon for colonists seems useful for warmachine

You should look into the bulk component mod. It just lets you make components in batches of 10 or 25 at a slightly increased speed. You can then set the bill to automatically renew and bam, component worries are a thing of the past, if you can keep your steel reserves high enough.

Animal shapes are part of vanilla now. All beings on the map show up like that when you zoom out far enough. Red for enemies, white for allies, blue for neutral Anomalies escape one *room* at a time.

He had Camera+, which overwrote that behaviour with a simple dot. The mod updated to accommodate the vanilla features and improve on them

It would be so nice if a QOL mod existed where every time a raid/event happened you could click 1 thing and all colonists, animals, mechs etc move to a certain safe zone. I have a colony of 25 humans, 20 mechs and like 25 dogs and I am so tired of micromanaging zones.

FJ, you know, face masks are very cheap to make, and provide 50% protection from the rot stink exposure. That alone makes lung rot much less likely. And you can combine it with partial tox resistance on baseliners for easy immunity to rot stink and other toxic gasses. Also, couldn't you strip the armor from those captured Imperials? If so, that's a fast source of cataphract armor... Capture them, strip them, send them back to make empire happy again.

I should have made masks but I kept holding out for gas masks and never got around to it. As for the captured imperials you can't stip them for some reason. You would have to enslave them first. I think this is a quest thing, I had the same problem removing the crown from the Stellarch before.

So I've been thinking about the empires logic to you capturing all their people, sending them 4 back and letting the majority of the rest just walk off and I propose that the Empire is acting in their own self interest. They see you have captured some of their best guys with little or no real effort, they see you are releasing them but by capturing them you showed them your strength and they are like well it's better to be allied with the guys who might just be able to take us out, than it is to try face off against them on their own turf

Since you have too much plasteel, decent crafters and no tech to build your own marine armour Masterwork Plasteel Plate armour has the same damage mitigation as good quality Marine Armour. Sure it slows you down more than marine armour, but there is no harm in storing some of that near your killbox for a melee blocker to equip it.

From what I've read on the wiki, normally, clones that are created using the Corrupted Obelisk have a degenerative condition that's psychically shared with the original pawn that was cloned, will eventually result in the cloned pawn or the clone dying, and that the only cure for said condition is for either the original pawn or the clone to die. However, since Francis proceeded to give their clone a death refusal charge, then decapitated said clone, then said clone would've grown their head back without the condition present. I wonder if the original pawn was also cured, or if they too will need to be decapitated and resurrected in order for their life to be spared.

Only 1/4 of the effects result in anything happening to the original pawn. -Hostile Clone -Mult Organ Failure -Degenerative mind -Consciousness drop on original and clone till one of them dies. Last one is the only one that affects the original.

I hate the fact that a revenant attack havent happened earlier in the series. They dont scale at all with wealth so they are trivial to deal with at this point, but very fun and challanging when you actually need to hunt it down and not just spam stun and flares. Shame that the caged one havent escaped some time before.

So with that obelisk, I'm seeing half of the equation that led to the Smerk copy from earlier... On the other hand, it seems that if you find another tough Yttkin, you shouldn't immediately convert them into a ghoul, now. Maybe they should be turned into a Yunners that also acts as a clone baseline?

Notes on the clones, or "duplicants" as I like to call them: There's 5 options for them. 3 of these are very bad medical issues, but these can be found early by sending them to a surgical inspection. One of these affect all the copies of that pawn, until only one remains. Basically, copying the same pawn over and over is a bad idea. Crumblintg mind is as you saw, and can also be fixed with a healer mech serum, or the unnatural healing power. Another option is the duplicant is hostile, but they never have any of the medical issues. Shock lance them for a free copy. The last and rarest option is a perfectly healthy and normal duplicant. Technically you could make a colony full of duplicants of a colonist named Gary. Not sure why you would, but you definitely could.

Some shamblers stick around and shamble around the edge of the map unless argo’d. But other shamblers will aggressively attack almost like breachers. It will tell you which it is when the raid happens.

Just noticed I can make a door out of bioferrite, and it's opening speed is 100%. Considering it has an HP of 320, it's better than most stone doors (I imagine Plasteel is better...) and doesn't suffer as much of a penalty when opening it! cool! Might be worth using! Walls have 600 hp too.

yeah, not sure the scarification/pain is virtue meme is working out for this particular crew quite as well as intended. Especially now that he's stable enough that just having regular beds/rooms and comfy chairs around would likely end up better for morale than them just not caring about comfort at all. Plus wouldn't have to keep doing rituals when folks de-age (or naturally heal it in Peshet's case). Especially since Age reversal is going to make maintaining scars finicky. Not to mention the risk of scarring something vital like eyes (which i think actually happened to someone this run). Added bonus would also be that comfort would provide additional means to counter psychic drones, because he's obviously not getting the usual basic confort/nice bedroom buffs he'd usually have in a more "normal" ideology combo used in prior runs. Ritualist was probably the better option for this particular themed run.

Yeah, the pain meme is well... painful. The vamp and lucy pawns heal the scars. I'm trying to age pawns below 25 so we don't have to de-age them when we get rich but that also gets rid of scars. Never mind the time involved in getting the scars cut into them. It really is painful.

I quite easily ended up with half my colony having the ability to cast beserk pulse. Made a lot of issues go away in messy explosions.
