What Shane says is partly true. One of my best friends from middle school into our early 30's eventually died from Heroin and Alchohol and there was a selfish moment of relief for our group and his family. Its sad, we all helped however we could, but he didnt want the help.

Just so everyone knows, the Coast Guard was basically the equivalent to today’s Navy during WWII. They were included in driving the landing craft into the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. There’s a lot of stuff that the coast guard used to do back then and now they’re basically just domestic. Pretty cool though.

Landing craft operators on dday were British Navy. The coast guard in WW2 wasnt the equivalent of the Navy, the Navy was the equivalent of the Navy. The coast guard were the equivalent of the coast guard. The coast guard were in Iraq and Afghanistan
