what a excellent way to start a series on music theory. very refreshing. Ive been thinking something similar along my own music journey, while trying to master scales and modes, none of that matters if you cant play one of them with a good sense of phrasing.

Thanks! These are really good explanations. As a moonlight-composer, I know about that, but I don't THINK about it. I took a quick evaluation of my last piece of music and voila: the phrasing (if existing) is more like a happy accident than well thought through...
