EXTRA NOTES!! Forgot to talk about shipping rates, they'll differ depending on where you live and what shipping option you choose. I typically choose EMS which is one of the more faster expensive options usually 20$ or more, but that's up to you. Also video rendered weirdly around the point where i talk about conventions welp. The name of the game is, ya snooze ya lose. So if youre finding stuff on these sites to be "orders closed" pretty much out of stock. A lot of merch aint manufactured forever, so if you want items that have been released already, most of the time its gonna be out of stock unless it didnt sell well or people cancelled their orders and they need to sell off the stock. Which is why when i get asked about specific items in my room, always gotta tell people its not in stock anymore because its no longer made. It sucks for new guys getting into the hobby but thats how it is, it especially sucks for people who want merch from older series that may not be popular enough to get merch manufactured all the time, You're probably gonna have to look for used goods. So at the end of the day, if you want something PREORDER IT, because you aint gonna be able to get it new after its released, SOMETIMES stuff is still in stock due to other people cancelling their orders so the store has to get rid of left over inventory, but dont always rely on that. theres a low chance of it getting reprinted but you dont wanna risk that if it doesnt happen. Never really said you can't get authentic figures off ebay, stores ive mentioned have their own ebay stores as well, just for the beginners you may want to avoid it initially since a lot of people end up buying bootlegs as shown in the video, showing 9 sold on that bootleg shiro, a good indication of a bootleg is when the seller is from china, but you also have people who may have bought bootlegs and are reselling them from places like the US so just be aware. same goes for amazon, since some companies do sell on amazon as well.

guys amiami does charge in yen, but you still pay in whatever currency your earn depending on what place in the world you are, for example I live in the US, and whenever I make a purchase, even it's telling me the XXX amount in yen, I'm actually charged the XXX amount in dollars, so don't be discouraged, also the preowned section is the best friend for those in a budget, best of luck.

I get pretty much all of my figures off Amazon and I've had pretty great success avoiding bootlegs and bootleg sellers. First thing to know is if the price is too good to be true it probably is. Second, you'll usually know a bootleg seller on Amazon in 2 main ways, people will review bomb them and/or they'll have no seller history. Third, if you're buying directly from amazon (meaning the seller is amazon themselves, not just "fulfilled by amazon") then you're pretty safe. A seller who's still listed as "fulfilled by amazon" is usually a safe purchase as well since Amazon doesn't like dealing with bootleg sales. A seller who is neither of the first two prior, but is well rated/reviewed, ships from Japan, etc etc is usually a safe purchase as well (many of the vendors that Ken lists out are sellers on Amazon as well). The one time I got a bootleg figure was when I intentionally went against all three of these practices; the figure took 3 months to get to me because for some reason it shipped by ground from China to Germany, then was air posted to the US where it floated about in the postal system until reaching my doorstep pretty well mashed into bits. Luckily enough, when I contacted the seller, they refunded me and told me to keep the figure.

One Vendor I visit regularly at conventions is Star Cast Anime. Her stock might be small at a first glance, but all of her figures are official, and she told me she does special orders. Which is how I got my Kaga(Azur Lane) figure, BlackWarGreymon G.E.M. Statue, Purple Heart(Neptunia) PVC, White Heart(Neptunia) PVC, and Raphtalia Figma. The only downside with her, is no refunds or exchanges/All sales are final, and her prices can be a bit high at times. Especially with Scale figures and G.E.M. statues.

When it comes to figures I buy from hobby link japan because of the way they do pre-orders, no payment is charged until the item comes in stock and their private warehouse feature means they will hold the stuff you have bought for up to 60 days so instead of paying individual shipping charges on however many items you buy, you can choose when to have your stuff shipped and only pay one shipping charge that while usually around 50-80 dollars will still be massively cheaper than individual charges cumulatively.

I kinda learned the hard way bout buying anime merch from ebay, I went on there to find dvds for the Monogatari series, and the dvds were are a pretty good price so I ordered it and they came from Malaysia and they seemed pretty legit from looking at the dvd case and I put it in the dvd player and started watching and first thing I thought hmmm the image quality was kinda lacking, it looked better online and in the anime there is a lot of on screen text that had missing subtitle texts that I saw online, eventually I did some digging and found that these dvds checked off every box in the bootleg category, but then I looked up the Monogatari series dvds from the official source and that was a bit of a shock too, I'll get what I can when I can afford it but I can't justify spending over $100 for a anime series right now

buying off amazon is legit though. A lot of the sellers he mentioned in the video also sell on amazon. Granted, I've only purchased off amazon japan, but I'd wager the same applies to US and EU amazon. Just check to make sure the seller is legit first by checking their seller history and reviews.

To be honest, I do buy anime figures from AliExpress, of course fully aware that those are bootlegs (sometimes their quality is not that bad TBH) - but the reason is: I plan on customizing or repainting some of them (in some cases drastically changing them) and I WOULDN'T DARE do that to official ones... So that's that. But I also own a few official, original figures, which I treasure a lot

And since I'm just a beginner when it comes to customizing, I don't want to risk any expensive "victim" for my first couple of customs. I mostly buy my merchandise from either Amiami or amazon, I only buy off amazon if it's licensed. I get almost all my bandori/BanG Dream merchandise off of amazon since all the figures there are licensed by bushiroad. I also get key chains from amazon only if they're cheap. I really want to go to a convention one day, though my family doesn't know I'm a totally weeb yet >~~< I'm pretty sure they'll understand me and support me, but here we don't have any conventions I don't think. Also, let's not talk about how I've lost 2 key chains that were $20.

But if anyone is looking for a good place to buy manga, I recommend abebooks! bought from there three times and got manga in great condition (They might be used though, don't remember. haven't gotten stuff in awhile.) for good prices! literally got the first seven volumes of the promised neverland for $40. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEY HAVE GOOD PRICES, I usually buy in lots from the same seller!

Regarding bootleg figures, you can pretty much summarize it with "don't buy figures from china". Buying from Amazon is perfectly fine if for example the seller is the original company making the figure(meaning a seller authorized by amazon), which does sometimes happened. Ebay is more risky. Don't buy anything from a seller that's from china and check the seller's reviews before buying. If they're from japan it's usually safe to buy from them in my experience, but check beforehand just in case.

Figure buying for our EU people: 1) Archonia, 2) Figuya. Just remember that the price will "look" higher, because import is expensive! But those websites can save you a lot of hassle if you don't like to deep-dive into buying from the other end of the world with many potential things to go wrong. Also, I might be disliked for saying it, but I buy most of my figures second-hand from other people, either through my own country's closed Facebook groups or through the MyFigureCollection website. Just have a good conversation with the seller about the details and shipping, ask ALWAYS for pictures just to make sure they are likely to be genuine. MyFigureCollection also has a review system for each seller.

Archonia usually only has a 20-30 EUR markup (comparing to when you buy it yourself, and have to pay import duties), and they keep stock a lot of the time for already released figurines, so they're pretty good yes

Actually you could shop for figures on eBay and Amazon. Amazon does have a majority of authentic figures, but you need to know what you’re doing so you don’t pick up bootlegs. I also like to go on eBay and buy figures/nendoroid because if you know what your doing, you could get a steal. Just make sure that they don’t ship from China
