Love your KZbins! I buy my 100% grass fed/grass finished beef tallow from Millers Organic Farm in PA. They ship anywhere. It’s less than $6.00 per quart and great quality:-) I use it to make the balm that you demonstrated and also for making fat bombs:-)

I looked up this farm and they have a bunch of bad reviews from people saying they are dishonest, the FDA is trying to shut them down, they aren't certified, their raw milk is not raw, and so on. They also want a $35.OO memebership fee to order from them. Use at your own risk!

I’m so sorry to hear that! Yes, I think it’s a very peaceful, relaxing activity, and fun and creative at the same time. I think I could do most of it with one hand. The hard part might be pouring the soap into the molds. I always use two hands for that. Do you have a friend who could help? 💕

Thanks for this information. I have just experimented with lard, honeycomb and some essential oil mix of geranium, chamomile and orange. The honeycomb had quite a bit of honey in it so my product is a little bit sticky till it is absorbed but I think it ended up giving me a headache from the essential oils...they are 100% but maybe not appropriate for skin or maybe I put too much in....I'm not sure but I was just experimenting with what I had on hand and look forward to getting some tallow in the future to try some of the products you make they all look so great!!!

What a fun creation! Yes, if the essential oils are giving you a headache, it's probably because they're too strong. They are quite powerful, so a little goes a long way! I only use 24 drops in a 4 oz. container of balm. Geranium and chamomile are especially strong ones, and you may need to use even less of those. They should all be good for skin, though. I called a local butcher here and they have beef fat 1.99 a lb....but it's not grassfed organic. Soooo I'm going to call my father in law in Moffat Colorado and when they butcher have him freeze and save the fat for me! We will have to make a trip this spring and put it on dry ice and drive it back!

I am trying to render my own be fat I procure that a local Fred Meyers. Using a little bit of water and I'm doing it on the stove not sure how many hours I'm supposed to do this figured I would look at it after 30 minutes and then let it go a little bit longer the longer I don't think I should go much more than 2 hours?. Play plan on making a keto chicken nugget. Chicken chunks breaded with pork grinds and fried and beef tallow

Thank you! You can render tallow different ways, some people use the dry method for cooking and the wet method for skincare and soap. I haven't bought tallow in buckets, I get raw fat and render it myself :) You can buy rendered tallow, and I recommend looking for grass fed tallow. Great question! Both are great, but tallow has a higher smoke point, so for some types of cooking it's better :)

Hello! Yes, lamb or sheep tallow is very good also! It is less readily available where I live, but I believe the nutrient content is about the same as beef. It would make wonderful balm, soap, and be good for cooking! 😊

It does somewhat. You can successfully render and use any of the beef fat, but the best is the leaf fat from around the kidneys. It has the highest nutrient content. 😊
