My biggest style inspiration are the older folks in my life. NOBODY is doing color coordination like grannies. The patterns, the costume jewelry, the comfortable yet stylish shoes, the handbags. Obviously not all old people dress nice, but the ones that do are DOING IT for me.

I also love looking at old family pictures and what they were wearing. Other than that I love taking inspo from nature especially for color combinations from flower fields, butterflies, sunsets, etc. I recently saw someone dressing up as different flowers and they looked so cool.

Yay you posted! This is an amazing day. 💋 I’m about to watch the video but the title reminded me so much of a video I watched, I forgot the KZbinr but the title was along the lines of “What are people wearing in Japan?” One persons answer stood out to me the most and I always apply it whenever I make an outfit, he said: “I just look at the city and street signs and base my outfit off the color palette. Like McDonald’s, yellow and red.” Not exactly what he said but similarly! 😿

My outfit inspirations come from 80s rock.. goth etc. art. 70s. And like someone else said grannies! My oma and my grandma were my queens. A lot of things in my wardrobe as a child was my projects and gifts sewn by the females in my family. Which in turn taught me a lot. Thankful to my sewing machine and serger. And my wardrobe now has things from my oma in her passing. One of my favourite tops is this ivory satin blouse of hers. My oma genuinely her entire closet nearly was sewn by her. Matching pantsuits in varied pastels. And the same iconic leather blazer. I too look at old runway. I pin those things and hair etc of these eras i mention. Jrock specifically… hyde. Atsushi sakarai… yoshiki.. major inspirations to my looks. But I don’t look for EXACT. And primarily I pin major house design pieces to sew for myself when I want to bite the bullet and run the card for fabrics 😂. I have studied and been around fashion and seamtress work forever. My aunt and her daughter were where I learned luxury brands and began learning the history. Literally that cousin made me make a pinterest when I was 13 years old I am now 27. My best friend then expanded my palette into knowing so many models and history of it all due to writing with her and finding inspirations for it all along with our art. All of these elements leak into every facet of my life now. My entire room the furniture is all second hand and well built mahogany stained woods with a victorian/edwardian look to them. Personally… I just think people whom talk about the oversaturation of pinterest inspirations clouding their mind need to curate their feed better. Or atleast… what I do is I pin anything into 3 different style boards. One is my main one. The other is for slightly off brand and the other is completely opposite. Eventually whenever I am feeling more critical I will go through and see again and delete anything that I dont actually like as much as I considered when I first saw it. It has made thing way more concise. And as controversial as it is. Fashion studies and the old saying to which you are taught in these classes is “know your body” aka its shape and what is and is not flattering. I can look at anything on someone else and or on a hanger and just know if it would look not as I would wish it to look on me. You just have to be more realistic to yourself and your lifestyle… or else youll always feel let down and wishing for a life that is not your own. Fashion is a great way to express identity and change your image. But if you arent comfortable , you wont be happy. I do think if you have older ladies in your life. Window shop with them. Talk to them. Ask to see their closets, their jewelry… their life stories and old photos. Those are precious memories and great inspires. And who knows? You may leave that visit with an irreplaceable item you will use time and time again. My winter coat has my omas austrian club pin to which she founded in my home town when they settled there. Things like that… just irreplaceable and iconic. I also wear her gold catholic icon necklaces. History and style if you ask me.

my biggest fashion inspirations are the devil wears prada and the gossip girls which is like late ninetys early 2000s high fashion ¿ so whenever i catch myself liking smth that’s too trendy i go back and watch those. also i face this problem with tiktok but not pinterest most probably because i never save entire outfits to my board i only save different pieces of clothing so my feed isn’t trendy ootds

Italian grandpas are so inspiring to me… Even tho my style is more similar to yours, which is why I subscribed to your channel! I loved the way you showed old pictures cause its really similar to the way I dressed in 2004 (when I was like 10) cargo pants, overalls, boyish sweaters… in 2018 I was not dressing at all like that; I was just following the trends and tryna be sexy😅 but now Im 30 y-o and I just want to feel authentic, confident and comfortable which is how I ended up dressing more like my younger self. 🤓🥰 (and I have the same hair color as you and wear big glasses too so when youtube recommended you, I was like : … little sister???🧐 ) Oh! And Thrifting is also a great way to get inspiration and so is looking at family photos ❤️

Interesting video. I’ve never been very good with fashion, but I am an artist, and so I just try to apply artistic ideas/knowledge to find my personal style. It may sound silly, but since I'm big into fandoms, I like using characters I love as outfit inspiration. It honestly makes me more enthusiastic to wear certain clothing items. It might sound like cosplay, but usually, I just take things like color and shape ideas from them rather than outright dressing like them.

This is a fun video I like the 70s and 80s styles but the family photos is Soo true I have two pictures of my mother one in 1965 and she is wearing a beautiful green skirt and jacket set with cool glasses and another picture of her in the 70s and she is wearing brown wide leg slacks with a matching turtle neck sweater and the coolest clothes. The mirror is a plus because the clothes from my closet I like to look at myself and smile are comfortable jeans , skirts and tshirts/ men’s jeans and oversized tops ✅ Thank you

Am I the one who doesn’t really get trendy things in my Pinterest recommendations? I work as an artist for video games, and most of my Pinterest is related to my work, but I use it for fashion exploration as well. I like clothing with character and unconventional fashion in general, and I see trendy items or outfits with a super Instagram look there super rarely. That’s why I believe the algorithm can work for you if you know how to work with it.
