I absoulty love that you brought up features that are typically “unattractive” or “ugly” as not detracting from the way somebody looks but actually an enhancement. Having wonky teeth or spots or wider ears are all things which make us individuals, in my opinion you can also use those features as accessories to yourself in their own way, and totally agree that it can become fatiguing seeing everybody conform to the same way of looking. Love this video ❤

Oh my gOODNESS FINALLY someone else said it. Anytime I am in the HF community they gobble and slobber over “if you know how to LAYER youre FASHIONABLE” although they will talk on knowing yours cuts, fit and silhouette, textures. And thats what I go for. I absolutely am not with the avante-garde -ification of everyday life just to prove individualityin fashion. It simply rarely looks… good. But if looking a mess like you just left the goodwill bins without a bag and decided to wear it all out, by all means rock on brother. It is just simply too impractical, uncomfortable to me to go that far for no reason other than proving to your ego that you are somehow better and more knowledgeable in fashion than someone else in the grocery store checkout. ALSO love mid-high rise. Prefer a mid, but high has its place especially in formal womens suiting. It will always elongate and do justice compared to a lowrise suitpant on a woman, imo even men. I hate seeing a formal button down all the way down to the groin where it finally ends and is broken up by the pants waistline. It ALWAYS makes every average height and build person look supremely disproportionate in a professional setting. Again.. if it is your intent especially for a more slumped look, rock on. I also second love myself having no ass no curve just massive pants, just like I love myself the biggest winter coat possible. Sneak anything, including your grandma into the movie theatre with those bad boys.
@Adina51502 ай бұрын
Oh also, the common conversation behind doors I have heard of is commonly the designer is wearing something supremely casual / “timeless” due to the factor that it makes rewatching the show at any year , appear that it could be any time, any place. But none the less it is quite common that the designer or artist looks nothing like their designs day-to-day. Including myself. In the end you are very rarely your own muse to your work. Also alot of the time the other joke is the longer you are into fashion the more youll end up wearing basics that are well-made and more about those factors I said prior, silhouette, texture, quality, fit and practicality. Which in the end happened to me. Now I am mostly all black head to toe focused on textures fits and comfort, comfort to an extent. More “uncomfortable” would be towards formal attire I own that I can’t just jump around in and kick my legs to the ceiling without having to readjust myself and tuck things in again. Or worry on integrity , to a plausible tear. But, overall I am quite careless as its meant to be worn till it begs me to stop. To which I will stitch it back up so it can cough and beg some more. But it is very true what you wear doesn’t indicate your inner fashion sense. My brother for example cannot afford, and also is on the spectrum so he can only handle so much due to oversensory and disdain to restriction of a clothing item. But he loves my clothes and we can talk in circles and he will share me plenty of things he wishes he could wear. Otherwise he just dresses up his avatars in these looks instead because of this. Essentially just like most, living vicariously through a creation of a fantasy self. And or how archive runway is primarily “selling” a fantasy, of that collection. A Fantasy “third person” we could be, they could be. That is the fun of it all, isn’t it? I remember my mother commenting on higher fashion runway, as many do who are not into it persay. The classic devil wears prada andrea sachs moment, asking outloud . How is this fashion, who is meant to even wear this? To which I told her. It is not meant for the everyday wear. These specific collections are not part of the “ready to wear” collections, these ones are representative of the designers artistic merrit and vision. It is just walking art to appreciate. That is also a more dramatic approach to what will bleed and be translated into often the upcoming ready to wear. It sets the tone to the brand and designers “era”

@@ashleighcallaghan I think, like that video of Lynn Yaeger that went around recently. Which is very important. Is that if you are interested in fashion, learn everything but fashion. Overall if you went into historics and classism and all these other larger social topics. Knowledge and or historical, media; literacy- is what makes the difference. Because if all you know is fashion, then you know nothing. Yes it is great to know who what where why on a designed item.. collection, whatever it may be. But fashion, as we know is influenced and always referential of something else, something bigger. It is always political. Everything has intent. Just as you said, on what you choose to wear, everything has intention to tell something, mean something more than what it is on the surface. Along with as you said, dressing for body-type. It is very real and very true, even those who try to claim to not do it. You will always be doing it either way, for or against.. You made the intentional choice to go with or against the “current.” Also forgot to say at the end of my last comment, that when I had explained it to my mother. I also had explained this thing to exes and other people through my life. It made her understand it and it was a major “AHHAH!” Moment. The light went on. Anyways, Thank you for replying and saying that to me, but I more so pride myself in how much I know within histories of everything and current events. Along with the arts, music, classical, dance, paintings, literature, poetry. Health, sciences, psychology, language. I spend a majority of my time seeking knowledge, and fashion is the afterthought. In my opinion and many people you may meet in such spaces would most likely adhere to the same. The longer you are around it the less it is about clothes. Hahaha. If it is, you are wasting time on what matters least if you cannot metaphorically “READ” what things are meant to convey/their intent and or referring to.

Thank you for the acne point! It’s interesting that society frames acne as the opposite of healthy skin when actually don’t most people have some degree of acne-prone skin at some point in their lives? When you think about all the pollutants and other nasty things in the air, I think it’s actually quite normal that this would cause a reaction in our skin. Spotty skin is skin that is trying to protect itself!
@lja5302 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure that's incorrect - there are a number of factors that can cause acne, hormones being one of them, or just skin at certain point producing a lot of sebum and that in combination with naturally occurring bacteria will culminate in a spot or two. No big deal and most likely no toxins involved.

I think it's so interesting that you are in favor of what you call 'unique' features (which, very much same), but are on the other side of the argument when it comes to 'dressing for your body type'. to me, what's considered flattering when it comes to the shape of your body is similarly arbitrary to smaller unique features - so mainstream fashion doesn't like gapped teeth, but I do. mainstream fashion doesn't like certain bodies that they deem 'out of proportion' or whatever, but I do. totally fine to not see it that way, but body shape trends change over time and what's considered flattering isn't an absolute, but is similarly constantly changing!

@ashleighcallaghan2 ай бұрын
I am sorry that I offended you, please know that I respect Jessi greatly. She is incredibly talented and has created a name for herself in the fashion community for many reasons. I hope you understand that I was not using her video because she is a black woman. Everyone can express themselves radically and I was just giving my opinion on her outfit. The sentiment would have been the same regardless of her race or gender and I am a fashion channel not a political channel so I chose the video that best illustrated my fashion opinion. I hope I have explained myself and you can understand there was no ill intent in my decision to use Jessi’s video. Jessi deserves all the success she has gained and I hope she continues to grow as she is a great representation for black women in the fashion community. Respectfully, I don’t believe I was targeting how black women express themselves in my video and I hope that you don’t feel my video hinders how you express yourself. I apologise for the way my video made you feel regardless of my intention. I hope you have a lovely evening and thank you for your comment.
