The interesting thing about Ocala and Gainesville is while the population of Gainesville within the city limits is larger than the city of Ocala, the Ocala metro area has far more people. Marion County FL has over 375,000 people with Ocala as the principal city. Alachua county FL has 278,000 with Gainesville as the principal city. (2020 census numbers). Also Gainesville votes heavily left leaning in elections and Ocala is right leaning. I think this is important for people to know.

What’s the richest zip code in Ocala?
@Poohbizzle7 ай бұрын
Failed to mention Zipline Canyon park in Ocala. It's probably the only place in florida where you zipline through actual Canyons, well its really limestone rock but they are 90 feet high, so it definitely gives a mountain vibe. Also ocala is hillier then Gainesville, so mountain biking is popular thing in ocala. Just adding a little help.

I guess elevation is pretty high in Gainesville to be flooded
@Poohbizzle4 ай бұрын
@@MiguelGgtr yea most central North fla doesn't flood because it's higher elevations. Although Gainesville and Ocala do get tornados. Although once again thanks to the higher elevations and hills. If tornados are a worry for you. This area of florida does have basements and cellers. Alot of the older homes have basements. The only newer built homes that have basements are the ones that are built into the side of a hill. But if you customly build your home building a basements is definitely a thing you can do out here. Which something you definitely can NOT do in south florida.

@@Poohbizzle my is from 80s, just concrete slab. Nowhere to run, 😭
@Poohbizzle4 ай бұрын
@@MiguelGgtr to my knowledge alot of homes that where built with basements was anywhere from the late 1890s up until the 1950s. After that most homes where built on concrete slabs. Then in the late 1990s and early 00s when market was starting to ramp up again alot of homes that where built in hilly areas built homes with walkout basements you'd be surprised how many homes have basements in central and northern fla. It's huge misconception that they are rare here. For example I know of many homes/business in downtown Eustis that have basements.

You're too much Pro Gainesville. The city lost its charm many years ago. Transportation is cheaper in Gainesville because most people ride the bus. A bus that's on university schedule and stops. Everyone and Everything is focused for UF. Then you mention enjoying the Tampa sports, etc, for Gainesville. If anything, it should be Ocala. Because it's closer to Tampa, it's also closer to Orlando. Where you have Disney and Universal studios. Last but not least, because everyone is a college student. It can be a negative thing depending on your personality.. they are liberal and young. Mom and pop places are disappearing as well as locals are getting priced out. Gainesville is nice if your making UF money or you're a student. Its a collage town. OCALA is basacly Gainesville without the UF. Replacing young people with horses 😂.

Why would a liberal youth demographic be a negative?? I'm neither and Gainesville is perfect.
