Yes, the long wall where the bed headboard normally goes. Many builders smartly leave an open area for the bed, but sleeping with horizontal bridged cabinetry hanging just above your head might feel uneasy.

@JackVermicelli generally, a "built-in wardrobe" means cabinetry built onto the studs. Versus a closet, which is an integral part of the drywall-stud wall structure.
@kaela42018 күн бұрын
I mentioned 'built-in wardrobe' because that's how it's labeled in the floor plans I see on Australian real estate listings-'BIR' (Built-In Robe) or 'WIR' (Walk-In Robe). Sorry if that caused any confusion! What I really meant is that I hate when the door is directly diagonally opposite the wardrobe/closet.

I have struggles with spatial awareness, especially when it comes to arranging things in a room to maximize space and harmony. You explain things in a way that really makes it easy for me to understand (when normally videos on feng shui kind of go over my head and confuse me) and I appreciate it. I think it's because the other creators mostly use 2D images to describe their concepts but you do a mix of 2D and 3D that helps make it easier for me to wrap my head around. Honestly I have a bit of shame when it comes to my living space and you help make the whole concept of rearranging your room into something more fun and playful with good energy. The little Monopoly sized pieces and little screw to represent a lamp cracked me up. Thank you.

Cliff's videos helped me fix my daughter's very very bad bedroom. One wall has two doors, entry and bathroom. Another wall has a big window. Still another wall has a big window seat and two closets with accordion doors on either side. The only option was to put the bed on the wall where the door opens in. Protected her by placing a 3-fold screen to block the energy, and on other side of screen a substantial side table and lamp to further slow the energy.

2:58 is exactly how my room was built, except the bathroom is a closet. I tackled this setup by putting my queen sized bed (for one) in the bottom right corner, with the bed facing the closet I have 3 glass desks that occupy the top right corner and top wall, which is my computer area My drawer was placed in the closet to save space. I have the same window placments, but I live in a middle-class house in a middle-class neighborhood. So, nothing really to look at. The solution in this video wouldn't work for me because of my computer desks. I have rearranged my room at least 5 times, and the setup I have now has worked the best. Though I must say I hate having my desk so close to my bedroom door. This video does make me wonder if I should change things around again, though.

Hey Cliff, I couldn't find in your book how to have a door swing into a bedroom? Most will have the door swing so you can see the openness, but I feel like there's more security having the door swing so that it acts more like a shield. For example in your video, the top door swings bottom-up. What if it swung top-down? You would see the opposite wall when entering, but it shields whoever is in the room. I'm not sure what to think about this. Hope you will see this comment and respond with your insight! :)

@Natsuxc7417 күн бұрын

@themindeclectic98214 күн бұрын
Yes. If you pay attention to how we actually use doors, we're not going straight through them very often. We open the door, but tend to veer away from the door when entering the room. This creates an energy path through the room. Obviously, it can be broken up using furniture and whatnot, but if the room is completely empty and you walk in the door, you're probably going to veer to the left a bit. It's a good thing to keep in mind when designing a room because in light of that, the area to the left of the door isn't very peaceful and calm, and not likely to be where you want your head when sleeping. Here's two easy ways to understand the energy in a room: The first is the natural sources of energy. Turn on the lights outside the room and leave the doors and curtains open. Then turn off the lights inside the room. Everywhere the light comes from, there is energy (this can also demonstrate what I was saying with doors, as the door itself blocks the right side from the light where the left side is left open to it.) Keep this in mind when placing furniture. The second is to just consider what paths you take through a room. If a room is empty and you're just trying to get to the closet/bathroom/whatever, with the exception of the veer to the left caused by the door, you're most likely just going to walk through the middle of the room. If there's a bed in the middle of the room (well, the middle except for the headboard. Please don't put your bed in the middle of the room I'll cry) you will have to walk around it. Walking around it can either be a U shape where you have to walk along all three exposed sides, which is long and irritating, or as simple as an L shape to go around the the only two sides of the bed between you and your destination. So unlike the natural sources of energy, the energy paths are determined by where the people walk which is determined by furniture. You can guide the energy paths where you want them using furniture. For example you can put a long and low bookshelf on the side of your bed towards the door which forces someone entering to walk along the bookshelf and farther away from the bed. This redirects the energy path away from the bed while keeping the bed right by the door, which is sometimes the only option. Just keep in mind that generally having to take a Whole Route around the furniture in a room is annoying. And if you're thinking "but it's just a bedroom! it's not that big, you can walk around it" you are correct, but just remember that people's homes are a place they spend a lot of time in, and one that will see them at their absolute worst. While we can withstand minor irritations with relative ease, your bedroom isn't a good place to have to deal with minor irritations. It's meant to be comfortable and safe, not inconvenient. Anyway, the flow of energy inside a room is as simple as where the light and people come from and go. You don't have to begin remodeling a room with moving furniture around aimlessly. It starts with observing how a room works, because every room already has a way that it works and you can't control the natural inclination of a space, only manipulate it.

If you have advice, I'd love to hear it. I am working on creating my new/future bedroom right now. We're changing rooms. It's not huge by any means, but it still has 3 doors, & then 2 windows in the same spots that you had them here (bottom & right walls). The bottom wall window is fairly high up & wide, but not very long/tall (it's like half the length of a typical full sized window), & shows a view of the neighbor's brick wall. The other is a large full size (wide & tall) window that faces the front street w a view of some huge beautiful pine trees. Both windows are in the middle of their respective walls. My main door is on the top wall right smack dab in the middle of the wall (I'm going by your diagram here). There is a door to what will be my dressing room in the middle of the left wall. The very bottom of the left wall has a small closet. The top of the left wall has yet ANOTHER door that goes right to the steps that go down to the 1st floor; the door to the backyard is at the bottom of the steps as well. Because of this, the door will stay closed & a piece of heavy furniture will be blocking it, for safety in case of an intruder basically. There will be a "secret" way out from the dressing room I mentioned in case of emergency, & we have a rolled up emergency ladder in case of fire & need to escape out the window. So yeah, a bed can't be against the left wall in any spot due to doors & size of things, & I have a window or door on every wall. Previous occupants had their bed against the bottom wall, so below the window w a view of brick wall & their feet facing the main door, which I know is bad. I don't think the bed should be under the window w the great view of trees, either? There's zero room for the bed to fit against the top wall in any which way. Only space is the bottom or right wall. The bed is a Full size & it's me & my husband sleeping in it. We can have it against a wall in such a way that one of us can't get out of bed. Like, the bed can't be pushed into a corner with one of the long sides of the bed up against a wall.

Everytime you show a bedroom I think about my current bedroom and my past bedrooms and how I unintentionally had them all setup as accurately as possible for good/safe energy flow. I wonder if my PTSD plays a role in my awareness of energy and being potentially "seen" or attacked by umm monkeys LOL (it would be bears or a mountain lion where I am but... monkey works). I think the only thing that's really not up to feng shui standards is that I have a bird cage in my room with my pet birds. They are opposite the end of my bed but I have a bench at the end of the bed so that probably helps protect the space, and then there is still room to easily walk between the bench and the birds. The birds are in line with the door but one of them talks and alerts to things he sees when the door is open and tells on them like "HELP CAT!" if the cat wanders into the area outside my bedroom. I have considered moving the birds to the other rooms many times but realistically, I spend much of my time in my bedroom as it's my "safe place" so as bad as pets in the bedroom are in feng shui I do have them and the dog in here because it's the best for THEIR socialization and it helps me to feel like I have extra protection. That all said, if my birds didn't go to sleep without needing covered and stuff I wouldn't be able to keep them in here because that big cover would bother me at night, I also have a lot of plants in my bedroom. I think that for my PTSD all of the actual living things are helpful in grounding me.

No wonder they were getting a divorce! So I put our canopy bed beside the door used to enter the room. A night table with a funky light and the linen curtain hanging gathered from the canopy create a buffer from the energy, and we look out the French doors up to a little mountain. We swapped out the, yes, PINK glass doors to the walk in closet and bedroom to calm doors and I think it's the very best I can do. If I get $$$$ I would change it so we could close off the bathroom door with drywall and enter the bathroom via the walk-in closet. Thoughts, Clif?

That wall has a 6' sliding glass door in the middle, the opposite wall has a 6' transom window and the wall opposite the entry has a bathroom door right in the middle. The only place that is big enough for the bed is right under the transom. My highboy dresser is behind the entry door, with the drawer fronts facing the door. About 2ft on the other side of the entry door is the floor register that can't be covered by the bed. I have a chair/ottoman plus bookshelf in the corner between the slider and the bathroom door. The room is 12x14 with the long dimension going window to slider. The slider looks over my garden but the transom has mountain views.

"Birds and monkeys can attack me as I sleep" will be another concern to my list of concerns sleeping in this bedroom position.

You made my exact bedroom lol 2 windows, 2 doors. The front window facing the street, the side window facing the neighbors window. My bed is going on a wall. I do not like sleeping near windows.

Can you do this but with bathroom door and various bathroom views, like seeing the vanity or toilet or shower from the bedroom. Thanks!

Can you teach us about bedrooms that have en-suite bathrooms? I have 2 doors and there is less energy coming from the bathroom but its also a room where you clean yourself etc... so what are the rules around that? In my case the bedroom door is top left like you had originally, the bathroom door is middle left facing downward, the bed is against the bottom wall and the window is room length on the right. I think the answer is to put the bed in the middle at the top, but theres a lot of electric wires running along that wall, whereas the bottom wall is the edge of the building, high in the sky, so it feels like there is less energy/less disturbance while sleeping.

In the UK, we often hinge the doors the other way (as in they don’t open against the wall). How does this impact bed positioning?

I’m stuffed, my bed is under a window and facing a door and it’s the only place I can put it.

I’ve got a question for the master My apartment is an old converted Victorian home and as a result my bedroom is in the old “parlor/dining” room This means that two of the walls have windows, the doorway is a massive double door, and the other wall has a jutted out closet and a small alcove with a screwed shut door. Every wall has energy flow, so I’m not sure where to put the bed. Every which way my feet are towards a door, or my headboard is against a window I’m losing it over this issue lol So my question is; is it okay to have my feet towards the double doorway, centered? Like a king? lol

Is they cures in feng shui, i am thinking about putting my bed in front f a window which takes up the whole wall , i have blinds ,curtains window look out into my back garden so no passing traffic of any kind , watching other feng shui videos state if you put a red line for grounding blocks the bad energy or if you use a mirror to reflect energy of window back out ,it should be ok . As at moment my bed is on a wall with neighbours ,kitchen and living room . Very noisy , window option is my only other position available as bathroom on other wall and door opens onto area which is the other wall space ,with a radiator and boller cupboard only space for bed between . Not many options .

My room layout is also complicated. I have a window on one wall, 2 closets (1 walk in closet, 1 shelf storage) and the door 😩😅 Only one wall is “free.” So that’s where I placed my bed lol

hey Cliff, thanks for all your videos but let me mix you up farther... what happens when you have 3 doors on 3 walls. one balcony door with a window next to it, another wall with an opening leading to a small inner room with a sloped roof (this room has no windows) and the entrance door to the room?

I visited a friend’s new home and put my bag in his bedroom as suggested. His bed is also in that position with the door facing his head and the bathroom door facing his feet. The 4th wall is a line of sliding glass doors onto the balcony. I lingered a while thinking about his options non of which seem good. Suggestions please?

What if you add radiators to the mix? In every apartment I've rented, there have been radiators beneath the windows that make placing a bed directly beneath it very bad, because it can no longer sit exactly against the wall.

Tysmm, I was planning on changing where I should put my bed. I have a door on the top left and a window on the bottom middle and it's a good thing I put my bed on the middle right like in the video But I do have a question, currently I have a study desk on the bottom next to the bed and a wardrobe on the top side next my bed and facing my bed (from the video pov btw). Is it good enough? Because until recently when I sleep facing my study desk I feel like I'm being watched behind. Please help me, thanks in advance
