Quick correction here (and I'm about to nerd out a bit): The PSP Go can output to a TV. You just need to purchase an adapter that matches the charging plug. There also exists a "dock" stand of sorts that doubles as a place to charge the Go, as well as output it to the TV. When paired with the Go's ability to connect to a PS3 controller via Bluetooth, it begins to sound like Sony beat Nintendo to the concept of the Switch by over a decade. Unfortunately, the dock is very hard to come by, and very expensive if you do find one.
@YSN4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the correction. And unlike a certain someone in the comments section, I'm glad you provided a bit of information to go along with that, instead of just insults.
@OffAirProductions4 жыл бұрын
YellowSuperNintendo Yeeeeeah, I saw that. Not sure where people get superiority complexes like that. I also feel the need to note that in order to pair a PS3 controller to a PSP Go, you have to do a process that involves hooking both the controller and the PSP Go up to a PS3. Not everyone has a PS3, so that option may not be open to everyone.

Great summary of what to look for. A couple things to add on the PSP E1000 / Street model's screen: It is apparently from what I've read the brightest of all models. Its colours are closer to the 2000 than the 3000 (but not an exact match to either). It also lacks the flickering / scanline issue that affects the 3000, nor does it have the ghosting of the earlier models, making it a pretty good all rounder. If you don't need video out and aren't planning on playing any multiplayer games (lacking any wireless communication at all), it's a pretty solid option - the matte finish may be preferable to some even.

PSP popular in Southern Ontario? Growing up, nearly everyone i knew in Toronto had a DS Lite. That one odd kid with a PSP always stuck out like a sore thumb in a party. Looking back at the console, hands down I love my PSP a lot more than my NDS. It was was ahead of its time and as a developer, I can only begin to dream of how far people wanted to take the hardware on the homebrew scene. I don't think my younger self would have appreciated it as much because home console visuals, game mechanics and complexity didn't matter as much as being able to just play the same games as friends did. Pokemon was hot, and the Big N had just about everyone I knew on their side of the handheld war. if there is any reason to get a PSP in 2020, its for retro emulation as the console does a solid job. Near native 1:1 PS1 emulation thanks to shared architecture and even does GBA relatively well. I replayed Minish Cap and Fire Emblem on GBA start to finish on PSP back in like 2017 and it was a lot more fun with a proper control layout compared to touch-based android emulation.

*R E G A R D I N G T H E B A T T E R I E S:* I bought a pre-owned PSP 1000 from Japan and it came with a third party battery labeled "Rowa Japan". It is stated as 2400 mAh and THAT BATTERY LASTS. I'm getting anywhere between 5 to 7 hours with middle brightness setting playing a 3D game from UMD. I'm pretty sure this battery would easily outlast the original Sony batteries back when they were new. So my recommendation would be to try and buy these from a Japanese store.

I got a PSP GO for the emulation and for Project Diva... Ended up a bit disappointed in the emulation for the most part, I found the 3DS to be a *far* superior emulation machine for my purposes, so I ended up sticking to retro game collections officially released on the system, as those were pretty much guaranteed to have perfect performance, but even then, I ended up mostly just playing Project Diva and other rhythm games on the system... I also got some decent fighting games, but the PSP GO is kinda terrible for storage cuz you have to use those proprietary M2 Cards so you can't exactly use an SD to MemStick adaptor, so I ended up freeing up most of the memory on mine just for rhythm games, and had a couple of retro game collections and fighting games on an M2 Card...

One thing to keep in mind that is VERY important. If you are not going to use your psp for a long time, take the battery off the thing. Otherwise it will break and start to bulge until it leaks corrosive liquid into the board and maybe break the shell. Same as other devices like 3ds etc. IF THE BATTERY IS REMOVABLE, AND THE THING IS GOING TO BE IN A SHELVE, TAKE THE BATTERY OUT. Also, as a lifehack, you can take off a psp stick nub (it goes off with a little force) and just pop it in the c stick on the new 3ds if you want a better second stick.

About the battery, it is not a exclusive issue to the PSP, every battery powered device can have issues if turned down for way too long. The notebook I have, my father bought and didnt use it for a year, when he gave it to me, it didnt turn on immediately because the battery was extremely discharged amd only had some signs of life after I let around an hour charging and then it became to really charge and started to work fine.

The PSP was my first ever handheld console and I loved it! And till now I still have it~ Although since it doesn’t have a battery now, I have to play it while it’s plug in.

I just bought a psp 2000, with socom, nascar, gran turismo, nfs undercover, and disgaea afternoon of darkness. Good pickup for 160 in total on eBay.

Loved my PSP, I used it for years as my main media player/hand held gaming machine. Especially for NES/SNES and PSX games. Even when I had my first android phone I was still using my PSP as it's mp3 player was far superior. I still have it, I even recently lent it to a friend of mine who was stuck in the hospital. Was a great way to pass the time as I had it loaded up with all kinds of content.

i own a PSP street and its a awesome console!, I just like the modern styling and also its the perfect thickness, drawback though is the harder to change battery. I dont care about the mono sound because it has a headphone jack and dont care about the lack of wifi because most PSP's servers are shut down and also not compatible with newer wifi boxes.

My gf gave me a PSP (fat) when it came out. Always thought it was a better device than any of the Nintendo handhelds at the time (except for the use of MS Duo cards). I still have it and play with it sometimes. Also, still have the same gf, well wife.

The PSP and the Vita are unsung warhorses, underappreciated (and then wholly unappreciated) in their time, but they're aging like fine wine. I didn't know until, like, two days ago, that the first two Danganronpa VNs were first released on PSP. I thought they were Vita games first. The PSP keeps surprising, even in 2020. EDIT: Shit. while we're on the topic of Disgaea 2 PSP, it should be noted that its DLC is ONLY compatible with an original PSP. You can download the game to a Vita, whether over PSN, a freeshop like PKGj, or run your own UMD dump, but the DLC _will not_ run on a Vita, _period._

Just going to a little nerd for a bit, but there is a cool HD link that you can upscale PSP games in HD, and the brand its called LevelHike. However, it will only work on the 2000 or 3000 model and it is a bit pricy, about $40,00. But I believe it worth the money to play your PSP games, all in beautiful, crisp HD!

Hi, i have a little problem... Me and my father went to some dude giving away furniture like wardrobes and others and he told us we can take anything inside of them and i found 2 PSP's streets, one is working clearly but i cant boot up the second one. If you could help me i would appriciate it (if it wont work maybe my father will let me send you the not working one for the videos)

back then the UMD serve its purpose as Use for Modified Device to act as a dummy boot drive to trick into loading our favorite and free ISO + CSO game image. so the only game i ever legitimately own was crash bandicoot which was actually bundle with my PSP2000.

PSP go, CAN output to TV. There’s a reason there’s a dock, and component cables. System has been out for years with info everywhere regarding accessories and stuff but people still put out wack AF info. The Go can also be synced to a DS3 controller

Just curious but why wasn't the psp vita mentioned? I'm here like most others. Curious about the differences. I've had one but never well versed in the PSP world. Considering picking up another after getting rid of my last. Love ultimate alliance and battlefront. I may have missed the part about the vita.

PSP GO is a weird one, it has the best screen of them all with progressive scan but the crammed controls make me want to cry (big hands gang rise up), having 16 GB of internal memory is also nice and you could actually connect a DS3 to it, although you need a PS3 to do it so... And you can also connect it to a TV via dock or just component cables, but both of those are expensive as hell those days, if you manage to come across one that is.

I’m gonna buy a PS Vita for me but I’ll also buy a PSP for my friend so he can play my brother’s copy of GTA because his parents won’t let him get GTA for Xbox. My brother had a PSP but I can’t find it and even if I do, I won’t be able to charge it and I’ll need to replace the battery because it’s bloated
