I am a long time owner (since launch) and I think I have a pretty good idea of what games are good, and what accessories are beneficial and which ones aren't, I really hope you enjoyed and benefited off of this buying guide!

Nintendo I feel has always focused their sights on a younger target audience,and is it the PSP Go or the PSP Vita that's download only? The PSP has some really quality games. Played the hell out of the Megaman remake titles. I bought three copies of Birth By Sleep (original JP release, english release, and then imported Final Mix.) Crisis Core is a great game, and Dissidia. For me a hidden gem is Half Minute Hero, very fun. I still have my original 1000 model that I got for my birthday in 2005, but I just bought a 3000 model.

I just picked up a psp 3000 this summer and i ordered a 65g memory card from amazon for 60 bucks. I love my psp now. I love that i can play so many great ps1 rpg games from the digital store plus all the amazing psp rpg games. 9 out of 10 from Retro Ron.

Also some additional info: All 1000 models are VERY prone to ghosting. The darker the game's graphics, the more noticeable it is. Games like the Grand Theft Auto games are nearly unplayable due to it, in my opinion. 2000 models have improved upon the issues the 1000 had with ghosting, its still an issue but is not noticeable unless you really look hard enough. 3000 models have the same amount of ghosting, but Sony tried to mask the ghosting by making the 3000's screen use interlaced scan instead of progressive, which is why the 3000 has issues with scanlines. Models 2000 and newer are capable of playing (some) video game prototypes such as game builds for Saints Row Undercover and Duke Nukem: Critical Mass due to the added memory.

what I love about birth by sleep is that it removes mana, and every skill had cooldown, it is much better than mana, because you get to use skill more often.

Do yourself a favor and get a 32 GB micro SD card and a converter for PSP and just put CFW, you can get any game for free and can put emulators on there as well.

The psp looks amazing. I grew up playing on Nintendo and xbox consoles and sadly never got to play any playstation games until recently. I got a ps4 last year and just got a ps3 not too long ago and I'm really enjoying it. I think the psp and vita are going to be next on my list for my collection. I'm 17 rn so unfortunately I was either a baby, or not alive at all when all the great games from older systems were popular. So I really wanna try and experience all the fun i missed out on. Although now things are getting more rare and expensive and the more "recent" retro consoles had online capabilities and all the servers are shut down or soon to be shut down

Medal of Honor Heroes is probably my favorite FPS on the system. Great controls, AMAZING attention to detail. Although the single-player’s kinda barebones, the quality of the game’s mechanics and graphics overall keep me coming back Edit: While Peace Walker is indeed the first Kojima-signed game, it’s not the first attempt at a canonical title on the system. That goes to Portable Ops, which is hella underrated IMO.

I'm planning to get a psp next month, I mainly want to play ps1 games on it though, metal gear solid, tomb raider, resident evil, parasite eve, clock tower, galerians, syphon filter, fear effect and dino crisis. I'll get a few psp games as well, like tomb raider anniversary and legend, marvel ultimate alliance, persona 3 portable, yugioh gx tag force, both mgs games, silent hill origins perhaps. I just hope memory won't be an issue.

i actually played 11 of those games that you mentioned when i was a kid and fun fact in MGS Peace Walker you can do multiplayer in main mission or PvP mode same with Dissidia 012 you can do PvP mode anyways great recommendation please play Undead Knights, Dark Mirror, Logan's Shadow and GTA Vice City Stories too they are great games! also i actually think that PSP has better games than DS, 3DS and PS Vita combined

Liked the video but their are a few points missed. Both the 2000 and 3000 have video out put not just the 3000. PSP production of the 1000-3000 stopped in 2014. Also I Wana say the 2000 and 3000 weigh the same. The main difference between the 2 is the screen and the 3000 has mic built in. But over all good vid 👌

CORRECTING THE CORRECTOR:The 3000 is actually 9 grams less than the 2000. Might sound insignificant,but if you bought an ounce of bud that was 9 grams under it wouldn't seem insignificant for long,lol.

I heard that the 2000 model had the better screen, less motion blur. I’ve still got the 1000 from launch. There’s a few compilations from capcom sega Taito etc

3000 has much brighter screen and has more vibrant colors. the only downside to the 3000 is that it has scanlines but it is not that noticeable.

The UMD cases aren't scratching the games,their scratching the plastic casing the game is protected by,big deal. I admit though that you have to be careful when putting the UMD into it though because if you slide it in not perfectly straight,it can slice the the seam of the casing like a hot knife through butter. Also,if the scratches on the plastic cases really bothers you,you can grab a 10 pack of UMD casing's for pocket change.

The 2000 and 3000 model are the same weight and also you never mentioned that the 3000 model has scanlines on the screen, so for some people that doesn't make it better than the 2000 who prefer the look of a clean screen

forget everything this guy told you!, buy a micro SD card and a adaptor for the psp, than mod your psp and download all the roms for free, than u dont need to carry them clunky UMD disks, i got a psp e 1004 street white version, i add 2x 32 gig into a psp adaptor card, so now it has 64 gig or memory, than i followed the jailbreak tutorial her eon yourtube for my psp, and downloads 55 games for free and added those to my psp, now i got the ultimate handheld system!.

A lot of people like to mod their psps to play all kinds of classic games like SNES NES game boy etc, and it’s fairly easy to do so that’s one option, or you could hoard physical psp games, which can be pricey. It’s up to you!

Honestly I would recommend trying ebay first they have good filters to find a sony brand battery, other than that newegg.com and amazon.com have good deals but it's a bit harder to find a deal on a name brand sony battery so go with ebay first! :)

"must own" I don't like all of them. Some are good though. Fine by me if you do like them all. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops came before Peace Walker. Monster Hunter unite killed my battery pack 😅
