I watched next class on Netflix. After I finished season 3 or 4 I realized there were previous shows so I watched from the beginning of tng (I didn’t really know about how Degrassi worked and wanted to know the characters in dnc better.) I finished that and I’m watch jh. I’m on season 3 than will watch Degrassi high. I strongly recommend watching from junior high because there are some references to the older seasons and when you go back you feel like you missed things the first time and want to go back and watch the whole series again.

When i first watched jt die, i was very new to the show. so i watched every episode and when jt died it had a really powerful impact on me. I cried for 15 minutes. when you see him grow up it has that more of an effect to it. i cant watch that memorial without crying though.

I like seasons 5 and 6. I love season 5 actually. I love Liberty and JT's storylines (I don't even ship them, but I like the plots and how dark everything got despite JT being only the class clown before), Emma's eating disorder, Spinner as an outcast and trying to get his friends back.

+maahmatchelle I do like Emma's eating disorder line and everything to do with Spinner's redemption, but the problem for.me is that they are more like good nuggets in an otherwise meh season. There was something really off in the handling of Liberty's pregnancy as well, though JT was phenomenal, I will agree. I'm glad you like the season though.

I started with Degrassi TNG watched all of it and continued on to Next Class. I just recently got around to watching both Degrassi Junior High and High. After viewing all of the in canon series (still have to watch Kids of Degrasi street) I would highly recommend starting with DJH. This is really the true beginning of the Degrassi storyline. Overall I think my favourite series is the first 7-8 seasons of DTNG. This IMO was the best the series ever got. I loved the diverse group characters and their storylines. The acting is pretty superb of all those young actors and the writing was top notch especially considering all the heavy storylines we got. This first half of TNG will always be special to me. (Though I'm likely biased as this is the generation I grew up with) I was fine with seasons 10 -14 (I particularly liked Adam's storyline and the plot lines with the ice hounds) but overall I thought this generation of characters (the ones introduced in season 8) lasted way too long to the point I was super bored of them. It was a bit much to have 40 episodes a season. However by the time I got to DNC it felt like a nice breath of fresh air. Finally the younger cast from the later seasons of tng were getting a main focus plus we got some great new characters to add to them as well as some great new storylines ( I particularly like the very contemporary stories with the current refugee crisis in Syria). That and having 10 episodes a season was a bit more digestible and a lot like the earlier seasons of TNG. I was originally very hesitant to watch the original Degrassi series as I thought it would be a bit outdated for me. I'm thrilled I watched it though. DJH and DH are classics and were truly groundbreaking for their time. It also added a lot of context for the first season of DTNG which still has some focus on the OG characters. Really loved all of the Degrassi series and am happy I've finally watched the whole thing. Its neat to know that show out there exists that portrays youth in a realistic and relatable depiction.

I’d say based on age range, I would recommend people start with TNG and then go back to Degrassi: Junior High. Crazy thing was I didn’t even know about Degrassi until it hit TeenNick. I believe it was S10. Then I went back to TNG and I absolutely love those seasons. 1-9 are by far the best Degrassi, IMO. I stumbled onto DJH during google searches and it’s exciting to see the actual storylines of references I only heard about in TNG

My birthday is just a day after Manny's (Not Cassie's) so I literally grew up with Degrassi TNG. I think it's the "best" starting point if you for some reason have an issue with the late 80s and early 90s, or aren't interested in adding 70 pretty great episodes to the long long list of episodes TNG and NC already encompass. If an extra 70 episodes and dated (but good) visuals don't bug you, do yourself the favor and start Jr High.

I first found out about the series from a clip of TNC (or maybe it was TNG) so I looked up degrassi and found that it started with KDS but couldn’t find it anywhere so I started with DJH and I’m currently on season 6 of TNG and I’ve enjoyed everything so far. Also if you’re watching all of degrassi don’t forget the movies

I am one of the people who started with next class, because didn't know there was more before, at least here in my country, none of the channels on TV had the series, so I watched Next class back in 2015, and while you're watching it you can understand almost everything, it's like they did a great job by not having to watch the other seasons to understand the plot, but I wanted to know more about Maya, Miles, and all those characters so I started watching season 11.5, it was a little bit confuse and then again I fell in love with such a wonderful characters like Clare, Fiona, Imogen, I wanted to know more! And then is when really happened, I watched since the beginning of degrassi TNG 🦔❤️ I haven't seen Junior High or Degrassi High tho :c the Degrassi channel doesn't have all the seasons of Degrassi high and I don't want to be stuck in the middle.

for my friends who started with NC because they didn't know others existed, i always suggest to watch from 10-14 since its like a "new" show after they dropped the TNG label since all the originals left, (and since s11 is when NC characters start to show up) once they watch that then go back and watch DJH, DH and DTNG ahaha

I grew up on Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High. I have seen very little of Next generation. As for The Kids of Degrassi Street, I do highly recommend it on its own merit. It has an innocence to it that has never been achieved again, and the writing was really good. If you ever have the opportunity, please check it out.

After that I went back to TNG, and by the time that season four of NC was released I'd seen most of it. I still haven't seen much of Degrassi High/Junior High, but it was okay, just too before my time.

After watching the next class on Netflix I started watching TNG to find out more about the past of the characters from the next class, but only watched their scenes. Until one time where I didn't skip through the rest and got really interested in the other characters, so then I started watching the full episodes of season 10 and got hooked, it's literally one of my fav shows. Now I'm watching TNG from the beginning and I'm on season 5. And I do find it funny that the characters that I first started watching The Next Generation for aren't even my favorites anymore.

I got into the show back when season 10 was showing new episodes. I was interested in how they introduced a trans character. I remember the B plot was about Anya and her mom possibly having cancer and I was confused about who Holly J and Sav were to Anya at that time since I only came to see Adam's story. For some reason I just kept watching and was semi caught up based on context. I remember paying attention and saw the credits saying it was based on DJH and DH around season 12 and i was wondering what that was since I never really looked it up. I got so invested in knowing that the adults from early TNG episodes were kids on the original show so I took the money I earned later that summer from babysitting and used most of it it to buy every season (was very disappointed that season 13 and 14 never released on DVD) It was hard to get into at first because it bored me with how mundane the first couple of episodes are and me not knowing these characters yet (especially when you know some of these characters like Stephanie and Voula disappear so their stories feel meaningless by DH), but by the time I finished School's Out, I was a wreck.

Though it is a bit unorthadox, I think the best place to start if you want to understand all of Next Class's characters is smack in the middle of Season 11 after Holly J, Anya, Sav, Riley and Zane graduate and right when Maya, Zig and Tristan are introduced. Though those characters don't really have much to do, the seeds are planted (Tristan's insecurites of not losing those close to him, Zig's issues with being poor and Maya's need to worry when Katie uses the pills) to shape the people they become in the course of the series.

That's right, I got to experience the excitement of hearing that the show was going to continue on and revolve around Spike's now teenage daughter. i originally watched next class on netflix because i had no idea what degrassi was, i didn’t know there was a show before it let alone 3 of them. i eventually figured that out but i never considered watching the next generation because i was like pshh that’s for old people man i don’t want to watch something that old plus i’m guessing all the characters are irrelevant from what i had grown to love in next class. i also wasn’t planning on watching any of tng without starting fully from the beginning and i was like who has the time to watch 14 seasons. eventually my sister started watching random episodes of tng on tv because they air on one of the roku channels and i ended up catching some of it and being completely lost. she watched a lot of it and eventually we started watching it all the time together and she would fill me in on what’s going on because she pretty much knew what was going on. i never watched it from the beginning and i never intended to and all i had seen of it i had watched all out of order so i got the rest of my information about storylines and everything from videos like yours and the wiki. i been watching most of season 13 with my sister on the roku channel and for some reason the degrassi channel doesn’t air any of season 14 so i watched all of season 14 up until their graduation on tubi. but i didn’t want to watch that because i wanted to start from the introduction of clare’s class. so i started from season 8. now i have watched all of season 8-14 until thejr graduation but i’m currently on rewatching season 13 but it’s so hard to get through because of zoe like why is she in literally every episode and she’s so hard to watch i seriously can’t stand her but i watched next class from the beginning first, then parts of tng out of order, then finally started watching tng in order from season 8. idk if i’ll watch the beginning or not idk that sounds like a lot lmao plus i’m already so attached to clare’s class i feel like i won’t really enjoy the first group of kids as much i also wasn’t aware how many of the characters from next class were introduced in the next generation i didn’t know that literally most of the main characters were i thought it was just a couple but honestly yeah watching tng after the fact does explain some things like especially about miles abusive dad he always said that in nc but they never actually showed it happen but yeah you can pretty much watch next class just fine without context it’s still perfectly understandable. but next class just really doesn’t have any good characters like imo tiny grace and shay are the only not hateable characters in nc like maya zig zoe tristan miles suck so bad and it just makes me really mad that they are so important in season 13 and 14 like they barely focus on the seniors i just feel like they shouldn’t have been so important in 13 and 14 when they get their own 4 season show all about them

ok so as a nickelodeon/teennick superfan im so ashamed to say this but I saw Degassi: Next Class on Netflix and had no idea Degrassi: The Next Generation existed so I watched Season 1-4 of Degrassi: Next Class, and some things didn't make sense to me but I assumed it was nothing. I loved Next Class so much and was sad there was only four seasons. So I looked up Degrassi: Next Class season 5 and there wasn't one but I came across a whole world of more Degrassi. I didn't wanna let go of people like Tristan and Lola and Zoe and all of them so I started at the beginning of Degrassi: The Next Generation Season 14 and after I finished Season 14 I went to Season 13 then Season 12 and that was when Maya, Tristan, and Zig came in (plus Tori and Cam but they were not even mentioned in Next Class). So I'm in the middle of Season 11 and found out that the end of this season is actually Maya, Tristan, Zig, and Tori's beginning!! But once I move down to season 10 I'll miss those characters but now I'm attached to characters like Clare, Imogen, Fiona, Holly J, etc. So Season 10 will be good for me. I watched some episodes of previous seasons only because I wanted to see if Degrassi was the way it was now in like 2003. Three Words. I. LOVE. MARCO. Marco is tied as my favorite Degrassi character with Lola. After I finish Degrassi: The Next Generation I'll move down to Degrassi: High all though from what I hear it sucks and so does Degrassi: Junior High. I'm not even gonna bother with The Kids of Degrassi Street because I like my teen dramas not Ida makin movies so. But I totally screwed up. Netflix needs to add the other Degrassi series so that way people don't make the same mistake I did but starting with Degrassi: Next Class. Or they should just have every degrassi episode as one series. NotAVampyre I tried to watch season 1 and 2 of next gen but it got kinda boring for me, and then I saw some characters that I liked in season 3 like Ellie, and there’s much more drama. After I finished next generation I wanted to see Zoe, maya, zig, ect and what they would be like in next class so I watched season 1 then tried season 2 but it got boring so I skipped to season 3 where there was much more interesting things. I knew where to skip thanks to the degrassi wiki and some friends.

Lol. Yeah season 1 of TNG is so innocent compared to the rest of the series! Its important as it introduces us to the new generation of students attending the school and also revisits the students from the original series who have now reached adulthood.

@@NotAVampyre personally I like djh best cuz it was on when I was young. I just last month watched all of the later seasons for the first time.

I like it alot as well, but I understand still that many want to start with more recent versions or not want to set themaelves up for so many episodes

Majority Degrassi shows were good, I just didn’t care much for “next class”. I didn’t like the show once Maya’s generation took over. Clare’s generation was good the last good part of the show.

Only as boring or depressing as the rest of Degrassi is. The first season is akin to TNG season 1 as the crew/actors were getting adjusted and finding their characters, but if you got through TNG, you should have little issue with OG Degrassi. It may look depressing because of the older and lower budget filming style, but please don't let that deceive you into passing up some wonderful storytelling.
