"Relax" is a bad episode, but my personal least-favorite is "Working for the Weekend." Logically, the plot makes ZERO sense (Jimmy and Spinner somehow open up a t-shirt business within just a few weeks, and somehow convince a storefront to let a few high-schoolers rent it out for their business) and it was just so, so bad. Marco and Paige are managing their money. Great - they're both college freshmen in their first semester who have done nothing that qualifies them as business managers. Oh, and don't get me started on that insipid subplot where some random girl - who we've never seen before and will never see again - bullies Alex because Alex bullied her. Yeah. That's mature. Ugh. I HATE season six - it's my least-favorite season.
@NotAVampyre6 жыл бұрын
I actually liked the B plot. It was good to see Alex have to confront the person she was in the past. Even if it's not mature, it's not unrealistic to want revenge on someone who tormented you. If only it wasn't a one off character who we never see again. But yeah that A plot was really stretching it to the point of breaking. And I often defend off the wall storylines, so that's something coming from me.

A better way to get the girls a sponser without removing the stakes: Joey sees how hard they were working and says he'll find them another business to sponser them. Or the boys are impressed with their skills and says that they'll help them appeal to another business.
@taylorw73954 жыл бұрын
I'm late, but I will say this... Liberty was being annoying, but I still see her as the victim. When she was told that she would be team manager they neglected to let her know that meant little more than washing uniforms. The other girls were always rude to Liberty, especially Emma and Manny at that time, but somehow would put up with JT and Toby who were equal if not worse when it came to being annoying. While Liberty may not have been going about it in the best way, the coach said she would not help. If the girls wanted to win so bad, you would think they would at least want to practice. Maybe they didn't want to read the manual Liberty gave them, but they didn't want to work out and they weren't receptive. It was no surprise to me they lost, because they didn't want to work, and it felt like to me, they especially didn't want Liberty to tell them what to do. Had it been Paige, there would've been no questions asked. I wish they hadn't gotten the sponsorship, because it didn't feel like they didn't want to work for it. Who even set up the tournament in the first place? Liberty, in order to fix a problem the girls had. Yes, Liberty could be a lot, but there wasn't a time she did something just to do it. More often then not, it was to help fix a problem. I could go on and on, but I've always thought Liberty was treated badly in the show.
@Aster_Risk4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on this. Liberty did some things wrong, but so did the other girls and the boys' team. It's weird that she was the only one framed as needing to learn a lesson.

@enolamsamoht3 жыл бұрын
Liberty was the only reason I used to watch that show. She didn't fit in and she couldn't care less, plus she had the absolute best grades. I always thought that the Emma character was jealous of her. Because Liberty embodied the image of the smart girl better than she did.
@claran.87673 жыл бұрын
@@enolamsamoht For real. It always annoyed me how even if she was the smartest girl in the school (they said that many times) she never got deep storylines about her intelligence or wanting to start a club or an internship, for exemple. Ashley, Marco, Holly J, Sav and etc. all had school president race storyline, but her? Nope. They just mentioned that Liberty was the new prez and that’s it, with nothing serious after except seeing her at a couple of student council meetings in storylines that weren’t even about her.
@ppp38673 жыл бұрын
I think its lowkey racism. The black women on that show never got anything decent in terms of storylines or character development or even just being treated well. They were always just background characters to back up the white protagonists. Case in point Hazel, Chantay, Keisha? (friends w zoe and frankie for 5 seconds and then LITERALLY just disappeared). Liberty and Shay were the only importantish woc characters and Shays storylines were focused around Tiny or Lola not even herself. Liberty was a lil annoying yes but no one ever gave her the credit she deserved and treated her like a second class citizen.

Don’t really hate any but I really didn’t like “Cry me a River” Dave was an asshole calling Adam a tranny and wasn’t even punished letting him keep his radio show because of Sav. Then they randomly became friends. I also thought Katie was out of character forcing Clare to spend time with Eli when she literally cried over it. And Charlie was an extremely pointless character making things with her just uninteresting.
@NotAVampyre6 жыл бұрын
He was punished. He was kicked off, but was only let back on when he learned what he did wrong and because Adam accepted his apology and wanted him back on. Becoming friends wasn't so random. They had great chemistry, but ran into a wall until Dave's transphobia was sorted out. Katie says she doesn't like drama, but that's not how she really is. Forcing Clare to spend time with her ex was a powerplay move. Basically saying "I've not forgotten the hell you caused me by crying to Sav". It was also a reminder that even though Katie needed a grade 10 on staff, Clare wasn't safe in her position. So, if she protests her assignment, then there's not much stopping Katie from kicking her. Even though their relationship wasn't happily ever after, Charlie was very important for Fiona. She never really done the dating thing for real except for Bobby and so had a lot to learn. It was also a lesson in needing to be open with her partners on her alcoholism instead of hiding it for the sake of appearances.

Id argue that isn't the case. It's actually a pivotal point in Clare's character because her vampire fic was what got her into writing and revealed her talent for it, thus leading her into taking creative writing, getting with Eli, aiming for Columbia, getting on the newspaper, so much. It's an awkward watch because sometimes discovering yourself and your feelings is awkward, but it's a very important character episode.

Season 1 and some of season 2 is kind of a blur to me. In season 8 they did a better job with this kind of subject when Jane played on the guys football team and dealt with sexist remarks from her team members and coach but still played in the end
@NotAVampyre6 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was really a statement on unfair treatment of girls in sports. Sure they boy's basketball team were rather rude, but the lack of funding for the girl's floor hockey was explained by the fact the administration did not anticipate having one and thus did not set aside the funding.

@NotAVampyre4 жыл бұрын
Since the beginning Sean has had issues with Jimmy, mainly because he constantly reminded him how he's being held back a grade, and that feeds into his already existing anger and frustration against everything in his life. It builds when Jimmy intentionally hurt him in basketball, and comes to a head when Sean is certain he failed and is going to be held back again. The fight is more Sean wanting to get the emotions off his chest. Find release to all of the pressure, and fighting is the only way he knew how to do that.

One episode I low key hate is in the next class with the feminist club shutting down hunter video game team. Like I first I loved it but as time went on and seeing how strange western feminism was to me, it relates to how confused I feel about the new wave western feminism and while I understood the feminist club point normalizing sexual violence, I also felt the video game was somewhat challenging gender roles instead of sexual violence. Also hunter's response in the meeting, the cyber bullying the video game team did to maya and the result of the school almost getting shot didn't help either
@NotAVampyre6 жыл бұрын
But The Feminist club didn't get them shut down. Hunter did. While the club had some good points, Hunter could've made an argument like the one you described and rightfully point out that the game in question was literally the only option they had in a competitive sphere. But he didn't/couldn't. His anger got the better of his reason and instead of deffending the club, he attacked the student council, was rather offensive to those he was supposed to plead his case to, and his actions made the PTA/school think that the team should be disbanded. I want to see this topic revisited in the future but with a real discusion. Yes, I liked what we got in season 1 of NC, but the issue is not resolved and the other side has not been addressed since the gaming team was not very well represented by Hunter in the debate.

One episode I felt was kind of bad was the episode Cabaret because it kind of makes me hate Ashley and feel sorry for Terri when working on a group for anything its important to listen to other people's ideas and Ashley doesn't listen to Terri she thinks just because she wrote the song she knows how it should be and that's not always true and she doesn't really give the new version of the song a chance and because she's so caught up in thinking she's right she ends of missing out on participating in the performance what do you think of Cabaret
@NotAVampyre4 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure the episode is bad because what you're describing is the episode working as intended. Ashley does have an issue about refusing to allow for collaboration and thinking only her opinion matters. Cabaret is showing the consequence of refusing to even consider Terri might have something to offer. She ignores the fact that Terri isn't like Paige and won't try to take over every project, and ends up missing out on something great because of her hubris. We even see this later on when she removes Jimmy from her song in season 7 because she's afraid of Jimmy outshining her.
