Was just discussing the abandonment by clergy during cov with a friend of mine. The wounds go deep. They are fathers, we are children. Many of us were abandoned. I cannot act like it didn’t happen, but I also know I need to pray for these men or bitterness will take hold. I don’t want to be bitter, but I’m also not inclined to pretend this didn’t leave scars.

Thank you for this-I pray it opens the conversation more. Truly, it was such a dark time. I thank God for my husband. My birthday is in April and all I wanted was to be able to go to Mass. He reached out to a faithful priest and we attended his private Mass. It was the best gift ever! I cried the whole time.

This topic is a few years too late, but glad it’s being addressed. I have tried to discuss this with my priests, and I always get the same response “the church members were trying to protect your health.” I am still justifiably angered about about those “years.” If it was so horrible, why no memorial Masses for the dead? No collective apology from our Bishops or Priests? So much to write, but I’m sorry for all who have suffered spiritually and for those who have died from C*vid, $uicide, etc… God Bless us all. Thank God for Hermits.

I was refused communion on the tongue, August 2020.. I left NO Catholic Parish and never returned. FSSP is home now😊

We had a chance to unite ourselves with those around the world without regular access to the sacraments (ei. the Amazonians for which there was a synod the previous year). A chance to examine ourselves, offer penance, and adopt a more docile heart. But we blew it; more blame, more criticism, more rebellion. God have mercy on us.

I actually don’t think I can watch this. It will trigger me. Unlike many folks I had to work on site at that time in, of all places public health. I needed my church and spiritual father desperately… to no avail. It was definitely a “dark night”. It was a special hell for a couple years. And even though I switch to a TLM in summer 2020, I was thinking of even if I had been a member of the parish in early 2020 I would not have had access to the church for quite prayer! Even though I was in the middle of all the health care nonsense. Disturbing to me that priests are comfortable with what went on. Doubtful many of them including Trad priests would change much of what they did… all in the name of obedience. Never mind those of us who needed Jesus in order to face another day in the trenches!

Same experience. I too had to work in the ridiculous nightmare experience of “healthcare “ with all the Covid measures. If my faith weren’t strong it could have broken my spirit. It was so, so disappointing. In our church leaders as well as fellow humanity. I felt like I reached a new level of awareness during that time period. Nothing has ever felt the same since.

Yes. There is no back o normal for me. Unfortunately it did sort of break my soul. Fellow Catholic friends left me alone during holidays. They had family or spouses. I was alone during all major holidays.

To work healthcare during Covid, and to be abandoned by our Church… it really was a taste of hell on earth. I understand exactly what you all are saying.

@@ajyyoung3263 exactly. Especially since I KNEW immediately that it was bogus and evil. I couldn’t believe no one else at not work including patients, saw it. I felt completely alone.

@@gracieobunny9916 that’s terrible. I’m so sorry. So many families were torn apart. I remember many of my patients told me their kids wouldn’t let them see their grandkids during Covid. I used to get in arguments with the patients about the shots and really the whole thing because I never believed in it. I couldn’t believe they weee hoodwinked. I realized the faith in America is so weak and that scared me.

Don't forget -- DON'T EVER FORGET -- the priest who called the police during Mass to evict from church an unmasked pregnant parishioner. This was done before her young son and her husband.

@@caroblue7988 I only recall the actual video. But it was a church that appeared to be in a shopping center. The police, a man and a woman, repeatedly referred to the church as "a place of business." The priest concurred!

NO done properly is beautiful. Yes, many are done very poorly. All Saints Parish in Indiana, which Mr. Well and Mr. Sammons knows well, does it right and we are blessed to have it. What you are saying goes against church teaching...be careful.
