The world owes Basil Brown and Edith Pretty a huge thank you. What a find and gift to the British Museum.

Were the adjacent mounds also excavated since 1939, and if so, what was found in those? Asking for a friend.

What a superb little documentary. I will show it to my father, who was in London during the Blitz. A bomb hit the house opposite, but his family all survived.

I visit Sutton Hoo regularly due to it being fairly local and it is incredible. The museum there holds many things, Mrs Pretty's manor is there and open as an attraction, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the helmet and history around that time as a whole. It's great to see some history from our eastern county make it to the British museum. The helmet is well deserving of being there.

This was really very good - I learned a lot! The sound effects are a little too loud though, it sounds like you need to dial them back by a few dB and maybe applying an EQ filter so they don't interfere with the voiceover. But all the same, this was a great watch :)

Great stuff, I really enjoyed, but a couple of constructive suggestions: Slow down the delivery, take a more conversational tone, it's too fast for some to understand easily. When you show old pictures, such as the ones from the German bombing, don't put "flickering and aging" effects over them, we know they are old, and would like to see them as clearly as possible. Many thanks.

Not Anglo Saxon. That's Scythian head piece for children of the King would wear anytime they were in public. That way the Scythians protected the line of the King. You didn't know what the children looked like and you could not assassinated them or end the line. In no way it's a Anglo Saxon burial. That's not a fishing vessel, so it is the child of a King.

I know what you mean, but I'm sure it was a deliberate choice. The British Museum people will be well aware of the way Brits and museums are regarded internationally: Brits are stuck-up and aloof; curators are as old as their exhibits; and all museums are boring because they're not full of explosions, video games, rap music, babes, bouncing boobs and buttocks. Any Brit below the age of 85 will tell you that the stereotypes are utter nonsense, but it's true that people outside the UK dismiss us as a nation of Julie Andrews/ Mary Poppins clones. One way to change their minds is to show a more relaxed side of things. Wild hair, informal speech and casual clothes may not be 'academically correct', but I thought the content was entertaining and the information was accurate. These Curator's Corner and extra content segments are meant to be quirky because the Museum's giving its usually unseen backroom boys and girls a chance to shine. I think this video would only have been wrong if the facts were missing or misleading or if the youthful presentation posed a risk to artefacts and exhibits. I remember when the classical violinist Nigel Kennedy first achieved recognition; despite his virtuoso talent, there were many music lovers who simply couldn't accept his hair, clothes, and so-called 'uneducated' speech. Ah, the secret is to watch with your ears and listen with your eyes... ;-)
