Thank you, Tony. Still dreaming of that day and all the impressions it gave me. Surely a day to remember. Alas, the season is more or less over now and we are looking already forward to the next one. I think they call that "Tempus Fugit". Have a good time and lots of greetings, Dietrich.

Well done you two boyos. That was some hike. A pint must have tasted soooo good! Such a wild and unspoilt place, only in the Donegal Bluestacks. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Lucky for you it was bright and sunny with a decent breeze. I can only imagine what the midges would be like up there on a still day at the right time of the year..... I often wonder how on earth fish came to populate such remote and elevated locations as these, nature is amazing.
@DietrichBohnhorst Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Richard. There are surely amazing places up in the Blue Stacks, and usually in every little pond or stream trout can be found, not so however in "The Kingdom of Durko", everything looks so fishy but no fish there at all. Take care and all the best, Dietrich.

That was some hike lads - well done. Amazing how some lakes have no takes and another one nearby has doubles at each cast. Enjoyed the video - keep them coming.
@DietrichBohnhorst Жыл бұрын
Thank you, John. Some publications claim that system holds trout, but as the farmer at the bottom told us: no fish in that lake, if you should catch one I'll give you a reward. In these last 40 years or so I fished most of the 70 lakes or so up there in the Blue Stacks and only half of them actually hold trout. Next season we'll be somewhere up there again, definitely. Cheers.

Congratulations Dietrich for a wonderful video, I must say your pictures of the beautiful landscape are a pleasure to watch. How I envy you, and wish I could physically follow the same trail ,but i'm afraid it's not to be. so it's a great big THANK YOU for sharing such a wonderful trip. Heres to your next outing. Take care. Dave Mac.

That's right, Cuan. There are two more, similar, places in the Blue Stacks, not quite as remote, but still a good bit away from habitation; and they both hold fish, definitely. Shall we go there next season?

Another fine day in Ireland has shown us the secret of your youth Dietrich, those long trek's into the Donegal country side, well in this case a long climb up close to where God himself wets a line. Keeps you young and fit and once you have made it back down you top it off with the nectar of the gods a fine Irish pint. Well done Dietrich now gets some rest young man.
@DietrichBohnhorst Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jim. Love to hear that "young man" bit; just lovely. The season is more or less over and then there'll be enough time over the winter to rest, tie flies and dream of next seasons adventures. Have a good time and cheers.

Normally when I watch your trout videos I think "How can there be nobody else fishing in such a beautiful place stuffed with fish?" This time I think I know the answer already!
@DietrichBohnhorst Жыл бұрын
Well, the Donegal mountain lakes are definitely not "overfished" and we didn't come across any signs of angling during that perticular excursion. And I had the feeling: the last people who fished here were Ray and I in 1991. Thank you for watching, sir and all the best.

We went up above Lough Eske to the Blue Stack Montain crash site of a ww2 crashed plane, after a couple of hours climb, we were amazed to see two men up at the top, with tractor tailor, quad, and a monster of a digger on top of the Mountain, don't be amazed if these folk start to drain these lakes, no machine should be up there at all.
