Hey a trick on the headlamps is if you pull it down around your neck when interacting with others around camp helps keeping the light out of others eyes as well
@WhereWeWild Жыл бұрын
Nice 👍🏽😎 You can also strap them on a big jug or bottle of water pointing the light towards it and it lights all the water up like a lantern 😃🤙🏽 You might know that one already haha but, still cool 💡😁

Also, wear it around you neck while sleeping so you don't lose it when you need to get up in the middle of the night to feed the fire or water a tree.

You can also hold it in your hand like a normal lantern one. For quick trips I wrap it around my wrist. Headlamps are much more flexible in use.

I’ve been camping since the mid 1950’s and agree with your choice of gear. Things have gotten lighter and more versatile. I also think it’s a good idea to try out your gear in your own yard if possible to prevent a major disappointment far from home! Thanks for sharing and may I say that you guys make a great couple!!! I'd like to add a necessity when camping with children. We have 6! 😮 Bring a rubber door mat for tent entry so dirty shoes don't transfer mud/sand into sleeping area. Just rinse it off or shake it out each morning to "reset." Lol

In the military we called your camp shovel an entrenching tool. Ours had a short wood handle. Amazon has a lot of nice camping items. I've been using alcohol stoves for over 60 years and they have one that I like the Trangia. I modernized that style of burner with the Titanium Evernew Appalachian set. Titanium cools quicker and weighs a lot less. I get my big three items ( Backpack , Sleeping , Shelter ) from cottage industries. Some things haven't changed , I'm still old fashion , my coffee is cowboy coffee.

6:38 I swear by my Sawyer mini water filter too! And I’ve owned lots of different water filtration devices through the years, this one wins in my book. I’d like to add 2 things: 1.) you can feel really good about this purchase( I think I paid 12 bucks for it) , because the company has given away ONE MILLION and counting to people in 3rd world countries, disaster areas, etc to help provide safe drinking water to the people there. 2) Don’t let it freeze! I always use the plastic syringe to push out any remaining water, and then keep it wrapped with reflectix insulation and stuffed between other items to avoid that. Once the core freezes, you need to go buy a new one. Always have a back up plan for water, obv. Anyway, great video!

I've had that mini rocket stove probably for 15 years. When it was around 6 bucks. I have bought another set with the conversion adapter, feet, and pouch from walmart for about 12 bucks. Its just a backup, in case. My 2 absolute favorites out of about 15 coffee making contraptions are the gsi mesh net thing and the aeropress. Now with the aeropress having all the aftermarket stuff like the "espresso" adapter, storage cap, and k cup adapter its even more versatile. They are both soo easy to clean too. Another staple I love is the ohuhu gasifier stove. Can use solid fuel, sticks, and alcohol burner along with other options. A lot of my camping gear I've had since hiking sections of the AT yearly back over 30 years ago. I do have a sawyer mini and a steripen, but the katydyn hiker pro has served me well for around 35 yrs.

Really nice gear recommendations you two. I am ordering that fan today. It’s a must have in Florida if you don’t have power. I’ve brought 20” box fans camping already but it can get silly. Hee hawing back and forth on the pillow. Leaning towards a squishy one but it’s 3x the price. I’m not back packing so usually just grab my bed pillow but they can get damp and campy smelling. Besides I like designated camp gear. My gal says, “well I imagine you have all the camp gear you need.” I just smile and answer, “ you have no idea how big my imagination can get.” And also the sage is on order. I’ll try anything to curb the bugs. Just hope it works if I don’t do the yoga ritual with it. lol Blessings

@WhereWeWild Жыл бұрын
They’re pretty safe actually 😊 We’ve had the wind knock them over a couple times all good nothing happens really cause it’s tightly screwed into the little tank. There are also little plastic bases you can get for the tanks that make them even more stable. But yeah on rock, dirt, sand, picnic tables, decks, haha we have used that thing pretty much everywhere no problems. Definitely always good to be mindful of fire safety though that’s for sure 👍🏽😊

Great video guys! I have that shovel but leave in in truck for car camping bc it is too heavy for backpacking!
@WhereWeWild11 ай бұрын
Thanks! 👊🏽😊 Yeah no for backpacking you can usually just get away with the old ultralight trowel to handle your business 😁

Stanley does an awesome French press that you can boil the water in and it has a plastic sleeve with filter and spout. Best camping French press and it's practically indestructible! I highly recommend it!

One of the best knives I've found for camping is a Mora Kniv. They are dirt cheap and the quality is excellent, decent enough size blade on it and resharpens quick enough. So cheap you could leave a couple with your camping kit and not the end of the world if you misplace it.

@@elflakeador09 Yeah they’re sweet just gotta keep em clean. They’re in the video description and another video I made about knives from Amazon 🤙🏽

I use a Melita one-cup coffee maker. It sits on the cup with a coffee filter and coffee in it. Just pour boiling water over. One small piece is all you need. I just heat water in a small electric kettle plugged into my jackery. Easy clean-up.

My folding shovels remain at home. I carry a trowel. Not just any trowel. Over the years I’ve broken 5 or 6 trowels that were “just right”. Then, I got ahold of a “horri hkrri”. That’s Japanese for Dig! Dig!. Those trowels weigh much less than a folding shovel, and are as beastly strong. Not quite what a guy would use to fend off a bear - but getting close to it.
