Unlike the timesave in 1-B2, this one was developed a lot more recently, though still a few months prior to this video's upload date.
The standard route for this room involves waiting for an enemy to move out of the way, during which I always touch the checkpoint again just for safety. I rarely need it, but occasionally I do still die to the right side, mostly by just being careless. The route is relatively easy, unlike the monstrosity in this video.
A while ago, a different whg4 runner by the name of videocake asked if it was possible to squeeze between the enemy and the wall, while the enemy was at its lowest point. A quick investigation showed that this was indeed possible, though a bit tight. So I went and checked to see if you could reasonably make it to the right side in time for this to be done in a speedrun setting, but along the way I found out that it was possible to make it back down there even earlier than that, though you needed a very optimized key collection. From then on, it was really just a matter of seeing if I could finish off the room without slowing down at all.
Needless to say, this will not be featured in any long video. It's very highly optimized, and as a result extremely difficult. Paired with the small amount of time saved, it's just not worth going for in a run. It does look pretty cool though.
