I've been using a pickup with a standard fiberglass shell for hauling dogs for many years. Rain, snow, and wind are always an issue. If I want to spend a night in the shell I'd either have to pull out most of my stuff or do some sort of dedicated camper build with a deck. The GFC allows me to pop it up and sleep without the yard sale on the ground or having my truck be a dedicated camper. When I do longer trips in cold weather getting out of the wind is usually the biggest consideration. For those trips I pull a trailer and leave the GFC in place. The GFC does not get in the way of towing or exploring and I can easily camp away from the trailer if needed. So I use the GFC as a "shell with a tent" rather than a camper. For me simplicity and versatility are key benefits. Side access to the bed and being able to park it in a standard garage are also huge.

Heck yeah, the best truck cap on the market that also happens to be a great place to sleep 🤝

I love my Van, its been a great daily and it does great off road too, for what it is, but your absolutely correct that it has many limitations with its size, wheelbase and so on..

I think the "I just want to pull over and sleep" factor is strongest in most vans. No tent/roof to pop open to give up the ghost.

This is it. I keep thinking about switching to a truck setup, but the van is just so damn convenient
@harshrealm4 ай бұрын
@@bvp663 Yup. It's all a series of compromises though. There's no such thing as the perfect setup.

Of you still think about it or means that where you're going fits a van. And that's alright. @@bvp663

@@harshrealm Agreed! I think if I had a large enough garage AND a lift system to easy take a tent camper on and off the truck, I’d go that route. But I’ve got no garage at the moment so I know once I get a 200lb tent on the truck I’m unlikely to be taking it off.
@GFC4 ай бұрын
Almost none of our customers regularly take the tent on and off the truck, that’s the convenience of the setup. Run it once and forget it. The only real inconvenience is hauling more than one dirtbike on a vehicle as most of the double Moto hitch haulers are sketchy.

The only thing you left out of an otherwise great video is cold weather camping. I don’t think a truck topper is best in the cold (anything below 50 in my opinion but that is subjective). I would prefer an insulated slide-in camper in those conditions, but your comment about storage of a slide-in camper was spot on.

Great vid by GFC. I like how objective they were in this. The new V2 GFC fixed a lot of my issues when I first ordered my GFC then cancelled and went with a FWC on my F250. Mostly the light intrusion into the sleeping area, condensation and lack of features. I wish the cabover bed was a little longer for the super duty trucks though. It looks best on like a Tacoma or even 1/2 ton but looks kinda short at 8 ft long per the video from tailgate to bed vs my 20 ft long truck from tailgate to front with the standard 6,7” bed. Good job guys.

This. I like the product though I feel on the quad cab trucks they could push the overhang out more and gain real usable space for almost no real cost. On full size trucks I bet you could get your full bed up there and passthrough without needing removable panels.

Good video, I really like your campers. I have a question about how well do they seal up to keep the dust out? I think the tail gate fit is the main problem but curious as to how you keep the dust out.

The Go Fast is for me. For sure.

You mentioned moisture in the sleeping area. I imagine a situation where there's sideways rains, it gets wet, you close up without drying, and it gets moldy. You mentioned also that it dries out while driving? How's that? This is my only concern about this product, and I'll be visiting the shop ASAP [january 2025?]
@GFC4 ай бұрын
The great part about the go fast is that it doesn’t have that, like a traditional soft shelled roof top tent. Our camper is majority hard panels with the roof designed to shed and manage water, and the camper dries well just driving down the road.

Before getting a rooftop tent I thought the flexibility of being able to sleep about anywhere would be great, but in reality, it’s not. There’s no way I would feel comfortable sleeping in a rtt at a rest stop or a lot of places. For me an RV gives you the most amount of places to spend the night. A lot of RV parks don’t allow rtts and a lot of busier campgrounds are just too noisy. If you only want to camp way out nowhere it’s fine, but just limit your flexibility everywhere else. Be honest about how you like to camp and not be confused by overlandish stuff.
@GFC4 ай бұрын
Depends on the RTT. I’ve personally got tons of nights at rest stops or gas stations when traveling across country, but I would never do that with a foldout style roof tent that takes forever to set up. The go fast fits entirely in the footprint of the parking space and takes 15 seconds to set up or break down, so it’s easy to use in those kinds of situations. Given the option tho (especially out west) being able to drive off the road into a desert or forest and find a place to camp that’s a little less crowded on the side of a highway is always preferable over an overnight in a truck stop.
Is this available in India? And if not, any ideas on how to source one? I’m also wondering if it can be retrofitted into something even smaller and lighter-like a soft-top 2nd generation Suzuki Samurai, aka the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy MG413W King soft-top model. I’ve got a reference video on my channel for context. I actually own three of these beauties and need an overlanding solution for them. The latest one will even double as a motorcycle hauler. Any thoughts?

Great breakdown of setups and reason why GFC exists, fulfilling its mission very well. Where is that hilarious advertising master piece video of the presentation with the "rose" shorts?! I need to see it again and again 😂 Each market share has also improved their drawbacks. For instance, who needs to go off-road with a home on wheels can absolutely do it in Moab with trailers such as Paüse Palomino, Conquerer, ROA Roamer 1, Sherpa, the best of all worlds being a Patriot Camper that won't stop you on the beaten paths, tracks, where your off-road vehicle goes, it goes. Eliminating the towing issues off-road. There are other solutions. Off-road trailers are built for off-road/tracks purposes. Truck campers are getting better built. Now, the GFC succeeds in covering the promises features of a happy life on track. ❤ It is fast: read seconds fast. Durable: throw trucks, meteorites, explosives, truck crash, still intact. No headache to maintain or use: your tequila hangover headache under the cabana mode is yours to solve. It looks sexy 😂 It takes you anywhere on off-road. Tracks, deserts, mountains, races, and urban environments. Your choice. Very light... I mean, feather 🪶 light Love the light intrusion when in office mode. It now has a dampening noise, anti condensation, and black pitch night improved layer. Issues solved. It protects/shelters you and your gear. It is a cool set-up 😎 design and still cool in the desert. 😅 Let's debunk your two lies here 😂 It has a portable toilet. (Just get one) It has a portable or awning fixation style shower (snap one) It has a kitchen prep table and a sink! (Get a Seasuckers kitchen sink and table, built to suck your door and offer and open doors kitchen) with Dometic tap for water. Solved. Super versatile setup for the GFC. Add some Leitner designs portable, pressurized water, and you are good to go! GFC allows you to use your truck as a truck. Gold feature. It offers so many possibilities. If too many friends come along, there are swags (even inflatable) for this! Excellent night sleep. 🌙 Keep everyone safe and entertained on that trip. 🎉🎉🎉❤ GoFast
