Which AR15 is the Best? - GHOST RECON WILDLANDS AR Test and Review

I wanted to test the effectiveness of the new M4A1 Commando in Ghost Recon Wildlands. I figured as long as I'm doing that, let's compare it against the other AR15 based assault rifles in the game! I did have a viewer request for this, so why not do it all here.
The tests are all done in Tier One mode, at Tier 5, and all the weapons tested here are lvl 1. They're tested against the same enemies, and in the same situation. Let's see which AR15 derivative comes out on top!

the standard m4a1 has a long barrel option and if you fire it on semi-auto in quick succession I think you will be very impressed with it, it also works very well on full if needed. You should fire it twice each time when on semi auto before pausing too, "hammer pairs" they are called.

I actually love the M4A1 Tactical. You can’t full auto, but aim point return time is really fast so you can keep firing really consistently.

I prefer the R5. The range is the main difference it makes for me. In heavy combat I’m not a fan of the M4. But the R5 in my favorite.

Will Terry I can't understand why people use semi automatic. I have never switched fire modes. It pretty easy, even with high fire weapons, to shoot in single fire. (Not that I ever shoot in bursts, I only use fully automatic.)

I always enjoy these videos, and FWIW, the three go to ARs are: - MK17 - GR*FS - M4A1 Temple Appreciate the last two are loot/promo items, but if you can get them, do so. Did the full story to Tier 30 with the GR*FS (ACR basically), and then switched to the MK17. Switched back to GRFS because of the better handling, until I got the M4A1 Temple from a loot box - man, it is a sweet handling piece of kit, quick in the hands and solid. Quick test I use, is to fire off a stream of 10-15 rounds and see how the rifle reacts. Most of the ARs will pull to the side or 'snake out' if you let off a long stream, but not the Temple. Just tracks up, no wobbling. . If you can get those longs, you'll find them to be very stable Great video man, as always

Am i the only one who use AR's semi auto all the time? It's easy to pop people off and conserves ammo if you can hit your shots. Running the base M4 with semi auto fire active, with a bolt action or even a DMR as a secondary works really well if you know the weapon and the bullet drop off as well as damage per shot.

I really don't know how much they mean, and I've heard similar complaints from other Tom Clancy games. I can't pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes, and as I said in the video, maybe it was just circumstance. I want to do some further, long term testing of some of the "weaker" weapons, and see what turns up.

I feel like the R5 is extremely over looked. It's the only assault rifle I use. The only thing you can complain about is the fire rate and it has rarely gotten me killed. It's versatile though to say the least. Run with it for a few days and you will fall in love. ❤️

I find that the M4 A1 Tactical works best in stealthy, tactical scenarios. It's in the name after all. I use it like an smg, and switch to my mk17 or aug a3 when things get hot.

My new favourite Assault Rifle came with the Rainbow Pack. The HK 416. It is better in all stats over the P416 minus one. Handling I believe. Which can be easily compensated for with mods.

meserguy 55 Hell no!! As soon as i saw it,i had to have that package. Then they came out with war paints,that has a jungle "Predator"/"Commando" type feel. I think its called Delta. I have my Fallen Ghosts character dressed as a Vietnam era Special Forces Recon. The Liberator,Commando M4,olive drab commando outfit,vest,aviator glasses,& tropical camo boonie,& pack. Then added the Green/black war paint. She looks awesome. The whole DLC feels like Vietnam to me,even the little wooden boats. Just wish they would add the Vietnam era tiger stripe camo. I have it in the Division as a gun skin. Growing up,it was my favorite BDUs to wear.

I know this is an old video but im hoping you still get this message. Im currently playing and looking at weapons. Noticed something odd and looked for your testing on it. You don't seem to have a g36c test. Put any sight on, fire a bullet, reload, 100% stability. Its crazy. Please do your testing on the g36c. I would like to know your input. Note, when you change the sight, you need to reload or you will never hit center of sight. It really weird. Also, digital scope, it shoots up and right. Lots of odd things about the gun. Anyways, please do your thing.

Enjoyed the video, good work! ^^ So I started playing a month ago.. I took R5 RGP from the corpse of a Unidad soldier, I liked how it looked and when I started using it I fell in love. I did a Google search that which AR is best and one reputed source named RGP as #1. I was like whoa! I chose a winner. Then I didn't waste no time and acquired it to keep permanently in my loadout. Unlocked the 50 round mag and long barrel for it as well. It looks sick and performs great and I think it is quietest AR in the game. M4A1 is my second favorite AR, I love it equally. For SRs, SR-1 (great accuracy, eargasmic sounds and satisfying gunshot, looks sexy too), SR25 (great!), Dragunov (russian beast), G28, MSR, HTI (medicine for helos), SR25 Jungle (when going loud), MK 14 (great control), and finally BFG-50A (bang!). For pistols, I love 5.7 USG and M9. I keep M9 most of the time, love its iron sight, the blowback and sounds. It's perfectly quiet as well.

I gotta say, between the M4A1, P416, R5 RGP, and ACR (I include this in the AR section as it shares many ergonomics and features similar to an AR), I've found that the P416 is arguably by best AR, as I have logged a great accuracy with it and a shot to kill ratio of 4.49, better than the R5 (7.89) and the ACR (4.89). Gotta love my P416! Lol

Because it's the starter weapon, I kinda just felt off the start that it wouldn't be very good, and I think a lot of other people probably did the same and then didn't pick it back up, but it's a good weapon for sure. None of these are AR's unless you mean assault rifles, but if it's in the name of a real military weapon or any real weapon then it stands for Armalite which made the AR 15 so.... AR 15 stands for Armalite 15 which is the name of the model. Also if you are meaning assault rifle then you're wrong about the AR 15 because it's not even an "assault rifle" because it's a semi automatic civilian rifle which was made for self defense and recreation and not for military use because of it's teeny ass rounds compared to say, a M4! Don't believe the rumors about the AR 15!

I honestly really wish that in video games there'd be a way to convey reliability of firearms. Out of every gun in the game, if I had to take one to a night long firefight it'd be the POF p416 those things are fucking bricks. They will chew the barrel apart before they stop running.

I think it being the "starter weapon" might cause some people to overlook it in game. That, and its low damage, but if you question as I do how much those bars actually matter and use it, it's quite effective. In many instances, a high ROF trumps damage because the high rate of fire keeps them staggered.

P416: Lowest per-shot damage, but a laser beam under full-auto fire. 416: Everything great about the P416, with better all-around stats. Essentially just a P416 MK2. Remington R5 RGB: Hits like a school bus with hefty recoil. M4A1: Highest fire rate with decent damage. Fantastic in close to mid range. M16: Similar to the M4A1, with a slightly slower fire rate, geared for engagements out to mid and long range. MK 18: The mighty Jack Of All Trades.

these weapons are all AR15 based rifles, as is the LVOA-C. the M4 is an evolution of the original AR15. The R5 RGP for instance, is Remington's take on the AR15. It, along with many of the others such as the LVOA-C for instance are commercially available to anyone. The M4 is the military version, but they're all at their core AR15s

I hope you see the confusion as to why people keep bringing this up. The modern use of the term "AR-15" is mainly associated with the non-select-fire semi-automatic version of the AR-15. While technically the military versions of this platform (M4, M16, M416 etc) originates from the original ArmaLite AR-15 rifle design, they are not the same as far as trigger group/full-auto/burst capability is concerned, when compared to the currently marketed AR-15 name. Modern, non-original, civilian AR-15s are semi-auto only, and they are marketed as such. Yes, they are the same platform, but the biggest difference is the fire modes. In general, you cannot go to a gun store and legally purchase any of the full-auto/burst AR-15 rifles you talked about in this video, you can however most likely buy the semi-auto versions of them. The general modern use of the term AR-15, like I said, is semi-auto only in meaning. I hope you can see the confusion as to why people keep bringing this up and argue over it. Both sides are correct with their respective contexts behind them.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm not big on telling people what I think they should use... I try to make videos complete enough for people to draw their own conclusions. But since you ask.... I haven't messed with the P416 much, but damn it made quick work of that convoy. I think the R5 is probably the best at shorter ranges. At that range it just didn't have the fire rate to make the quick bursts it needed. If you have the Commando, I'd say it's kinda got everything pretty good all-around. I'd try out the P416, and if that doesn't suit you, use the Commando. If you don't have the Commando Ghost Pack, I'd say R5. If you don't like its slower rate of fire, then M4A1. I know that was a lot, but honestly they were all pretty close and each had its merits.

Well, atleast if the stats don't mean anything, I can equip any rifle for my character based on real life special forces. For example Polish GROM with the P416 which statistically has the lowest damage but now, doesn't matter anymore.

Thanks for this Dark. I've found that when playing games, for some reason, I tend to be drawn to a weapon because of its looks or maybe how it reloads rather than the more important time to kill stats lol. I do like the look of the M4 and P416. I had no idea the R5 was part of the AR family though! I entered tier one mode fairly early in the game as far as story progress goes, which is kind of a double-edged sword as while it feels more natural than replaying everything just for xp, I haven't unlocked everything yet. In fact I don't have most of the assault rifles that seem to fit the bill for damage upgrades; I still really want to try out the TAR and M4. I recently grabbed the G2 from Inca Camina as I started clearing four skull provinces and it's brilliant - it handles better and fires faster and more accurately than a modded MP7 - but, yeah... it's ugly LOL Out of the M4, G2 and TAR, which would you say feels most versatile from your experience? Since we can only upgrade damage I want something that handles well and is precise enough at range but can also mix it up in close quarters when the shit hits the fan and taking everyone out quietly fails ;)

In my opinion of those three, the TAR. I tried and leveled many rifles as I leveled down through Tier mode, and I always went back to the TAR. It's got a good mix of all the attributes.

Darkdally I think I recall picking it up in the beta when I got to Montuyoc... and I don't recall putting it back down for anything else lol. For now I'm using the AK12 as it too has a nice mix of attributes, with nearly the same accuracy/handling and fire rate of the G2 but also a little more punch - I think I need that for now as I seem to be levelling through tiers too fast for my weapons to keep up. Convoy grinding gets a little tedious, even with my current 85% bonus multiplier... I've always kept a suppressor on all of my weapons as I generally try to stay off the radar (in which case a G2 modded for handling is perfect as it's better than most SMGs across the board), but when I do occasionally alert the enemy I'd imagine something with naturally faster time to kill equipped with a compensator would work better. I've just started working through Koani so I can try out the Mk14 for the first time. Do you think I should move on to Montuyoc to get the TAR as asaply as possible? :p Thanks for the reply!

It's definitely worth getting, but it's not so much better than anything else that it's worth a ton of trouble, you know. But I do think it's up there with the best of them. The G2 is a really good one as well - very accurate and ROF. The TAR may pack more punch though.

P416 is not based of an AR15. It's the game version of the HK416, which uses a completely different gas piston system to the AR15. Also the R4 is in the AK family.

Sorry to barge in here 9 months later but I just thought I'd put it out there. The p416 in game is actually just the POF (patriot ordinance factory) p416. It is in fact a regulated short stroke gas piston operated ar15 made in the United states, with the p416 being a fully automatic LE/ military only version and the p415 being available for civilian purchase. It was actually developed before the hk416 which I find rather interesting given that they share a name.

I use my AR alot when i stealth so i love using the R5 rgp cuz of the slower rate of fire. Sometimes when u use AR's with high rate of fire it shoots twice and hits for example a buidling behind so the enemies detect u. I can always switch to semi automatic but i hate switching back and forth. I like having recoil on my guns aswell. Feels more realistic and It gets me immersed.

AR15 are civ long rifle, not a military one. Taking a AR15 into a war zone is a bad idea. AR15 are semi-auto, not full auto.

I bought this game day one and was not impressed at all I really wanted to lov it as I do Division but the AI (my side) was terrible going in guGho into mission, I felt like I was a game by product and not needed but after looking at a few of yor vids I thought this man cant be putting all this effort into this game if it didnt play well, so I gave it another go attacking a night time base, I found the AI stayed outside and only moved responding to my orders sink shot etc, I had a really good time and play for a good hour or more and I will be playing more, your vids are very good and I will use the info from them Thank You.

Why did you call them AR15's? AR15 is a semi automatic civilian rifle based off of the M16 or M4. A AR15 doesn't have a automatic fire mode.

Matthew Phillips AR15 is the name of the platform all the guns are derived from. The term AR15 has been hijacked to describe the non select fire civilian guns, but in reality all the guns in the video are designed using the Armalite AR15 platform.

Matthew Phillips Actually AR-15 is the original assault rifle that was developed into the M16, M4, and all the semi auto civilians variations. Each company has its own name for their version of the AR-15. AR-15 is a generic term for guns based on the original.

I thought the P416 has really shitty damage. Isn't that the AR that your start out the game with? I know you mentioned that for most weapons, stats don't seem to matter, but once I found a slightly better rifle after starting out, I basically never went back to that "noob" rifle. Lol P.S I unlocked the M4A1 commando yesterday and I love it mostly because it reminds me of black ops, and also, from my experience, it feels slightly more accurate than the stock M4A1 (with mods). And it's damage ratio is also slightly higher so it feels like a win win for me. Only thing I wish it had on it was the M203

Kelly Amos Robertson the M468 is actually is yet another model of the M4. Like H&K made the M416, they took the original American M4. And gave it much needed upgraded and a massive overhaul. So the M468... Is actually made by Barrett. The same folks that make the infamous Barrett .50 rifle. That everyone knowns and loves... The Barrett M468 if I remember fires a larger round, than the original M4's 5.56mm. The M468 was rechambered for a heavier and larger 6.8mm round. Thus the name M468, so there is an M468 made by Barrett. Whereas the M416 is made by Germany H&K or Heckler&Koch and are one of the pinnacles firearms.
