the reason we were all eating chia is because everyone kept complaining "but where will you get your protein??" chia, like hemp, is an easy way to pump up the protein in your morning cereal or on your salad. Also it is a terrific way to increase fiber. I'm not saying that flax isn't better but chia has a role to play, no?

Please do a video on ground vs soaked chia seeds. I found that chia seeds help me sleep soundly at night but I want to know if I should soak for several hours in advance of bedtime or just 15 minutes of soaking or just grind them (specifically relating to how well it will help me sleep), or should I grind AND soak? Since I started soaking chia seeds for 15 minutes shortly before bed, I have stopped waking up in the middle of the night, combined with eating romaine lettuce. Nothing else I have tried over the past couple years has helped as much. I guess I will keep experimenting but it would be nice to know what science says. Also, are 3 tablespoons in a 24 hour period the maximum, will this cause me any health problems, is it too much? Of course I have the Dr Gregor recommended 1 tablespoon of ground flax daily as well, but getting an uninterrupted nights sleep is super important for health.

I use that ground up chia seeds and water mixture all the time in baking to replace eggs! (I usually just add about 4 tsp to half a cup of water and blend in the vitamix. Let sit for 10-15 mins, and about 3 tbsp = 1 egg). I honestly thought I'd invented it lol! I guess not ☺️

You do the best you can. I’ve been eating three tablespoons a day of chia seeds for ten years. But I’m always questioning my diet if it isn’t going the way I want. So,now because of inflammation,I’m going to cut chia seeds. I eat hemp and flaxseeds daily ,and occasionally grate or grind an avocado pit. My diet is basically good and I work things in or out,one at a time.

Chia seeds dont increase inflammation. It increases EPA and ALA levels, which is theoretically great to fight inflammation especially if you eat too much omega 6. These studies just show that chia does not decrease inflammation, not that it increases inflammation.

It does not have to be one or the other. Each have a beneficial place in our diets. Each have uses where one is better than the other. Long story short, don't fret and just consume both. Personally for me, chia seeds have been a great way for me to give up yogurt, which finally made be completely dairy free. Chia pudding is so easy to make there is so many different ways to prepare it. Definitely not a low calorie food though, but it does give me great energy for my workouts.

I'm pretty sure that eating your meals at different times of the day doesn't have much of an effect on health markers. The entire thing about growth hormone spikes, insulin sensitivity, etc. is much ado about nothing. The only real benefit of IF is the spontaneous caloric restriction that tends to accompany it. Dr. Greger only makes videos on foods and lifestyle habits that have a significant impact on health (be it negative or positive). And Dr. Greger doesn't answer questions in the comments because he's too busy making videos and giving talks. This KZbin channel is basically a mirror of his main website.

There might even be some disadvantages concerning nutrition absorption. If you fill up all your receptors at once. Intermittent fasting seems to be of an trend, especially as it originally meant something completely different, it started out as a weight loss diet where you restricted calories 1-2 days per week. The current from seems to be promoted by self made youtube dieticians, with pretty much no evidence to back up anything.

Hello, I would like to thank you for the youtube videos which I find very helpful. I am a 54 year old female with 2 stents and I am, among other things, on daily baby Aspirin, and 10 mg of Prasugrel. Can you please do a video on food and supplements interactions with anticoagulants and anti-platelet medications and "risk of bleeding" . I've read a lot and I think I know more than most on the individual supplements but that just confuses me and makes me paranoid rather than give me some sense of confidence that I know what I am doing when I am eating and taking supplements. There are three questions that torment me in particular and I would like to ask you to be so kind to address those in the video as well. I understand that your videos are for educational purposes only and do not constitute medical advice and I have to consult with my healthcare practitioners (who mostly are too busy to talk about those things in detail; so basically I am on my own). So here are the questions 1) Does increased risk of bleeding translate into a possibility of spontaneous bleeding in the brain without any trauma, if there is no hypertension and no rigorous exercise. 2) Do pro-bleeding and anti-bleeding supplements cancel each other out. For example, I drink 4 glasses of green tea and consume 1/2 avocado and 1 cup of blueberries, on most days; and sometimes I consume a little bit of mixed greens salad (no kale). Those are all anti-bleeding. Does it mean that if I take Coenzyme Q10, turmeric, fish oil, ginseng, gingko biloba, mushroom extract, bitter melon, chamomile tea, cranberries (those are all pro-bleeding), the anti-bleeding will cancel out the effects of the pro-bleeding foods and supplements? I wouldn't take Coenzyme Q10, turmeric, fish oil, ginseng or gingko on the same day, I would rotate through them, one day one, another day- another. I am particularly interested in Coenzyme Q10 as I take Crestor 20 mg and I suffer from the known side effect of muscle weakness which (I tried that!) greatly improves with Coenzyme Q10, however, I learned later that Coenzyme Q10 also increases the "risk of bleeding" so I stopped it. 3) How to get my HDL up if I can't take supplements (such as fish oil) because they increase the risk of bleeding? I am running in circles here to manage my cholesterol and pre-diabetes. Is there a powerful HLD-upper that does not increase the risk of bleeding? My HLD is very low, virtually non-existent and nothing seems so help. Thank you very much indeed!!

If you’re making a dessert like a pudding or a tiramisu using Chia seeds, do they need to be ground for that? I would guess yes?

We mix chia seeds, hemp seeds, golden and brown flaxseeds and nutritional yeast together and add to our meals. But now I guess well cut out the chia.
