Great review; however the Osprey Poco Plus should be compared to the Deuter Kid Comfort PRO (since they are both their top models). I actually prefer the way you can sung the child closer to you on the Deuter, makes your center-of-gravity is more upright. the Deuter is VERY comfortable for longer distances. Also one thing to note; the duration (time) children should be in the child carriers is limited to 30-40min then a 5-10min break in-between, same as you would for a jolly-jumper. One more thing to note about the Deuter, the child seat was designed with consultation from pediatricians and it TUV safety certified.

Good review but maybe try comparing the Poco Plus to the Kid Comfort Plus, you’re comparing the Luxury osprey to the base model Deuter. Also I like that the Deuter isn’t a fully ridged system and can be compressed when not in use on the way to the trail head.
@haiironezumi

The Osprey can be compressed though - the red clips at shoulder height on the back undo and go into the receivers down on the bottom (@ 6:15)

Thanks for sharing! What is the difference in the space that each of the packs takes up? I'm leaning towards the Osprey, but am worried it would take up significantly more space in the car when traveling which could be an issue on long road trips, etc. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks :)

Great review. Would a 2 and half year old, 20 kg child be large or heavy?
@halohalohikers3571
@halohalohikers3571 2 жыл бұрын
Depends how far your hiking or difficult of terrain your climbing. 20kg is right around my upper limit, I can’t carry much more then that for an extended period of time. With carrying water and other gear that puts the total weight just a bit too high for me personally.

I feel like there is a learning curve that you will get used to after a few hikes, but both backpacks are certainly better than a traditional baby carrier that doesn’t have a hard shell. The Deuter is slightly less stable and prone to throw you off balance when going down hill.

Has your wife tried the osprey? And for how long and how did she feel? I’ve been trying to find a rugged hiking girl wearing Osprey on reviews, but I’m getting a lot of men. The duter was on my list but I’m going to be wearing it for hours hiking for 3 weeks on and off and the fact that it’s less supportive makes me nervous BUT if the Osprey doesn’t fit right, the support won’t work. I’m 5’1 110 so I’m pretty small too and that seems to be an issue. Ugg baby carrier makers...you need to make better women’s ones!
@halohalohikers3571

Eva Paula Hutanu thank you! I got the Osprey and although the specs matched my torso and waist, I’m having issues. I tried it out around the yard with my 2 year old and the hip band hurt, surprisingly, because it’s padded good! And the next day I had a small bruise after 15 mins of wearing it. Soooo I’m not sure hours of wearing it off and on hiking and road tripping isn’t going to work 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was worried the deuter or Thule wouldn’t do good on hard-core hikes. How long are you able to wear your deuter before it starts to be uncomfortable?

@@peoplenoodlesoup I've not done much longer than an hour yet, because twins are still getting used to needing out and about (so many naps, so many snacks!). I wonder if you live close to an REI, maybe they could troubleshoot the fit. They have an option online too.

What ages/weights of child can these back packs take?
@halohalohikers3571
@halohalohikers3571 2 жыл бұрын
I think they are both rated up to about 50lbs but at a certain point the carriers get uncomfortable for the child once their legs have to bend too much when setting the bag down. Our kids outgrew the carrier around 4ish years old even though technically the bag could hold the weight, it just became too uncomfortable for the both of us right around that age.

Your using the wrong type of water reservoir in the poco AG plus, try using a osprey hydraulics reservoir, or any that are designed to filled from the top instead of the side. because there design they are more ergonomic and easier to adapt across most brands of packs and child carriers
