Hi Drew, Italian here, happy to contribute with something about my country every now and then (but also totally happy with the amount of space it gets on the channel maybe even less, more interesting realities for me to learn about) still, couple contibutions: at 2:00 Germany and Italy actually share the concept of celebrating the defeat in WW2, one of the more cherished national holidays is the Liberation day (Festa della Liberazione, quite similar to the 4th of July, even in that it's often referred to just by the date, 25 aprile. The titular liberation is from nazifascism, it's the day the command of north Italy stationed in Milan, ordered the general insurrection against the ocupying nazi fascist forces - actually some days before the arrival of allies troops which were in the gruesome central Italy fight, giving the Italian people some margin to rebuild a collective identity to be proud of, while metabolizing in full the sick path of the past. the other one is about pizza ahaha just to confirm, in all Italy sweet pizza is legit, like nutella and bananas or coconut (French crepes still better for this imo) or just plain nutella which we are fond of like you would be about peanuts and jam :D edit: in Rome where I live, a classic and very popular pizza you can find in late summer (typically takeway NewYork style) or just make youself, it's plain pizza, stuffed with ripe figs and italian ham - pizza 'prosciutto e fichi' (re-edit: if you happen to google image it, most images are bad american-trendy round pizzas, the good one is a close up of a stuffed one, it's like in the middle of the second row) it's delicious trust me. And yes, we love our melon and ham 'prosciutto e melone' which is a fantastic appetizer indeed, but not on pizza lol

Yeah, Italy would be one thing but travelers rarely got far enough into Bohemaia of all places. Even then if they would be included it'd be pretty ugly. The worst thing to do in pre-modern societies is standing out. If you look like you don't belong to the region then unless you got a small army or other huge advantages don't expect to have a good time.

I think South Asia ( except Pakistan) can be renamed to “rice Balkan 3” cause Bangladesh and India consume more rice per capita than Japan I live in west India where we eat rice like 2 times a day lol but if you go to south and east india rice is like the staple food there. Bangladesh ,Nepal and Sri Lanka even consume rice more than china and South Korea ( per capita)

Dishes like Pulao, Biryani, Kichiri, Mandi and more are all extremely popular. Every household I visited in Karachi offered me some form Biryani. hopes this helps :)

The letter W or Double U comes directly from Latin where U and V were represented by the same character and the expression of the rare W that wasn't in any native Latin word was expressed as VV or 2 V's overlapping slightly. Over many decades the U, V and W all evolved further into seperate distinct characters. In French they refer to W as Double V.

It is a bit unusual for non-Nordic people most often though and I understand not everyone likes it. If you need therapy after reading that I can tell you pizza with walnuts, mozzarella Cerano-ham, honey, jalapeños(often paprika because jalapeños is considered to hot) and Gustavskorv(a Swedish sausage made of horses) is relatively common. Almost never exactly that but always that with some variation. It is usually seen as exotic and often has Spanish or Italian names in pizzerias because it is so southern. So not all pizza is so bad by Italian standards I hope.
