Pretty sure that’s wrong man, it’s a gene mutation between the same birds that happens to get passed down and selectively breed. Like the definition of a species is pretty much anything that can successfully mate together. I think there have been a few rare examples of sterile interspecies.

Let's say we go a few million years back : a couple of two primitive birds create, fertilize and lay an egg, but a genetic mutation occured during the development of the egg. Due to this, once it hatches, the bird is one step closer to a modern chicken. Therefore, applying this process of though to the following mutations that will lead to the modern chicken, the egg obviously came first, as the birds which created it cannot be called chickens yet

What happens if you go back pass the couple of birds? They become species that don’t pay hard shell eggs. Then the chicken would be first. But to think of the exact timing of when a proto chicken was inside a Porto chicken egg. The Porto chicken mutated in a chicken. The proto chicken egg came before the chicken. Which is why I don't like the question, since people will have long discussions about it, when in reality, it comes down to specifying different things from the question, in order to remove every bit of ambigious information. And, as they mention in the video, there couldn't have been a point in history (based on our definitions) where two birds mated and it produced a new species. So, if we're going by "..the chicken or the (chicken)-egg", the chicken would've come first. That chicken would reproduce with another bird of its species, and so evolution would continue to evolve it to the chickens we have today.
