I bought a Chanel Reissue 2.55 in black aged calf skin with ruthenium hardware in February 2020 from a designer bag seller and watching your videos has reassured me of its authenticity. I have recently visited Paris for a big birthday and purchased another Chanel Reissue but with gold hardware from 31Rue Cambon. I will treasure it for as long as I live and will pass both my bags on to my daughters. My 2.55 reissue (a 227 so it’s big) has been my most used bag since I got it in 2013. Same leather and hardware as your 226. It’s practically a part of me at this point - love it 😄

Ahhhh the velvet! I got a velvet double flap classic which I don’t love but my god the Chanel velvet is like nothing I’ve never felt before. It feels divine even thought it’s a stiff bag the velvet quilts are puffy and divine. That royal blue bag is divine _ they are all divine (dunno about the camera bag but it obviously suits some people). You are so excited by these bags and rightly so. It’s lovely to see especially you smelling them I do that too. I’m super keen o know what Chanel you actually use day to day….

⚠️ Do not use linseed oil on leather bags! Linseed is a drying oil, meaning it dries to a very hard film, think oil paintings. Do not ruin your bags guys and gals.

Dacob! Fantastic videos! After watching your them, I managed to hunt down the 2.55 camera bag and the 2.55 clutch! I’m so over the moon! (And so broke! 😅) I love 2.55 much more than the classic as well, but only have the minis as I can’t justify the price of other sizes (the price of the mini is already pretty crazy). So glad that I added the camera bag and clutch to mg collection. Let’s see what else you are going to “make me purchase” 😁 I’m already considering to search for the belt bag 🤔

@@seabreeze4559 Vintage hardware in my opinion is the way to go, it’s gilded with 24k gold and is less likely to tarnish. From my own personal experience, I have three Chanel bags: Reissue 2009 SHW, Caviar double flap 2005 SHW and a lambskin double flap 1986 GHW. Additionally, regardless of age, hardware will oxidise; a lot like normal everyday jewellery when exposed to the elements. My reissue, has shown some minor signs of this process, I’m not particularly heavy handed on my bags and store them impeccably. The only place I usually notice any tarnishing is where the chain rubs through the grommets, but I guess that’s just caused by friction and can’t really be avoided. When not in use, I ensure my hardware is covered with acid free tissue paper, like what you would use with normal fine jewellery and fashion jewellery when in storage. The new rose gold isn’t an ‘old’ model; it’s not possible for anybody to relay how this hardware has aged, not only after a few months. With new Chanel bags, you have a five year warranty, so if there were any major defects with the hardware, I’m sure it could be replaced. Hope this response helps!

Why do you prefer the 2.55 compared to the classic flap?

For many reasons. In short: Its Coco's original and personal design, the leather is my favorite of the main three leathers CHANEL offers for their iconic bags, it has no visible logos (which I prefer to visible logos), its softer than the timeless classic double flap, which makes it sit closer to the body (it has a fold which also makes it sit closer to the body and no other bag in the world has that elegant fold), the chain with its ornaments is a work of art and much more durable and comfortable than the timeless classic chain... and so on and so on ;)

Good question. They are different leathers and react differently to impact and weather. To me distressed calfskin is the best chanel has to offer. Its more flexible, soft and durable and shows less wear cuz its less structured than caviar.

I have the M/L with gold hardware too and also had a jumbo double flap with gold but sold the jumbo as it was too heavy and the gold made it too dressy. I really missed the jumbo size so I hunted the preloved market for a single flap jumbo with silver hardware in excellent condition. It took me 2 yrs to find one and I love the single flap as it is so much lighter!!! I was really lucky it looks brand new and I got it for an excellent price. I just read two articles that said big bags are coming back!! Plus the single flap lets you tie the chain inside so you can wear crossbody. LYXBAGS
