In the last book Petyr is training Sansa and arranging her marriage to Harry. How does this play out? Does Robyn die? Does Petyr's plan go awry? How does Sansa develop from innocent and foolish child to wise ruler? The show used her abusive marriage to Ramsay to accelerate her growth. What catalyst will the books use? In the show, Sansa emerged from her trauma very decent and honorable. I don't think book Sansa will be so pure. If Petyr dies at the end it's because Sansa kills him (hopefully in better fashion than the show). Yet, if Petyr dies much sooner, it could Sansa adrift and cause her to be bold, even reckless. I don't know why but the characters I'm most curious about are Sansa, F-Aegon, and Varys (after all those assassinations).

You mentioned Davos somehow surviving the Blackwater. I'm currently reading the books for the 3rd time and just now I noticed a pattern with him. As a smuggler, he's the man of the sea and water, and he keeps on repeating how he feels best when at sea, near the water. Davos is a guy who we saw get himself drowned, and then come back after 3 days, same way as Patchface. If I'm not mistaken, the only person Patchface actually talks directly to is Davos, not even to Shireen, just blabers songs while everyones around (tho maybe he "sings" dirrctly to her when Davos isn't around). This now correlates with the theory that Patchface is actually the prophet of the Drowned God, not Aeron. Could Davos be (maybe not a prophet) a servant of the Drowned God? Fire took everything from him, arguably his life also, but the sea gave him a second shot. And it's kinda poetic when you think about it, with Davos and Melisandre, two enemies, two gods, fire and water etc... Just a thought, I have "proof" so to say for that theory, but I'd need to make a video about it and have the books in front of me and try and find the fking chapters, which i dont currently 😅

Prophecy seems to depend on the biases of the person interpreting them - Cersei was traumatised by Maggie's reading and it haunts her to this day, while Rhaegar's main character syndrome was validated by his interpretation of the Azor Ahai story. Melisandre is rather hyperfixated on Stannis and so likely sees his prominence in what the fires tell her as a similar sort of affirmation, while if what Euron says about his visions is true it would easily compel him to seize such power for his own ends. Patchface and Maggie, however, do not seem to have any particular interest in specific outcomes, merely seeing what will be rather than what they might fear or want. This could also bode poorly for Bran, as he seems to be developing a level of indifference to events around him.
@Ashbrash19983 ай бұрын
You assume Rhaegar went all Gung ho woth the prophecy based on little to nothing. Like yeah he was doing research and thought he or his son may be the answer but he was still not sure. We still do not know anything about what happened with Lyanna except she left with him to the Tower of Joy. We don"t know if the prophecy spurned the whole event if he had anything with main character syndrome.
@WheresPoochie3 ай бұрын
I don’t think that Bran is entirely indifferent. Even as he is torturing Hodor and burdening the Reed children, he still voluntarily thinks of and visits (via weirwood) his family and Winterfell. I believe that his weirwood behaviour will be in protection of his family and of the Old Gods (which is why I believe he will work against both the Others and against the Targs).
@mister_i92453 ай бұрын
I never understood why people think "gold will be their crowns, gold will be their shrouds" means that Cersei will outlive her kids, the way I interpret those lines is simply that all three will be monarchs and all three will die as monarchs. Maybe the implication could be that they'll die before her (and I think Tommen probably will) but it's definitely not definitive that they will.

Why does it have to mean they'll be monarchs? Everyone has a crown, it's at the top of your head. Her kids had golden hair, so their crowns were golden. The colours of House Baratheon are black and gold, and the name Baratheon is the shroud hiding the circumstances of their birth. So their shrouds are golden. (presumably, they'd also be draped in the colours and sigil of House Baratheon when laid to rest)

@12:46 in relation to Quinn's caption: we know that Victarion wears full plate armor when raiding because he has no fear of drowning if he falls overboard. IMAGINE, JUST FREAKING IMAGINE if he uses Dragonbinder and it works PERFECTLY, he's about to become a dragonrider, one of the dragons flies over to let him mount it, but because Victarion is, as GRRM's puts it, "dumb as a stump," he didn't consider the possibility of the dragon flying toward the person who bound it with the horn and the fact that he used the horn on the deck of his ship. The dragon lands on his ship and either capsizes it or just straight-up sinks it depending on how big the dragon is (we haven't gotten a lot of detail on the current sizes of the dragons) and Victarion is thrown into the water and drowns from the weight of his armor, just like Andros Brax earlier in the series. I've made my peace with the fact that George himself probably won't be the one to finish the series and have suspected for some time that he's always wanted to mirror Tolkien in this aspect and only ever intended to nearly finish the series and leave enough meat for his writing team to finish it properly. I'm perfectly happy with this outcome now as I've convinced myself this is the best result likely and with the way the TV series went I really hope we get a nice large and well written book in the next 18-24 months so we can see a little more of all the cliffhangers we've been left on. @bierwolf8360Ай бұрын
Possible. It'd definetly be better than the show's "who cares about the Others" path. I think however that there are several dichtomies at work. The Bloodstone Emperor clearly awoke something with his "black stone", which fell from the sky. The stone must still exist somewhere and I specifically propose Oldtown - which Euron is about to take. Remember that the base of the Hightower on Battle Isle is a labyrinthene fused black stone fortress, unique in that in Westeros and clearly predating the Valyrians. After the first long night, the Yi Tish people most definetly wanted to hide the stone as far away as possible and Oldtown is essentially on the other side of the world for them, plus they're known to also have built fused stone buildings. So, Euron will win the battle of blood, take Oldtown and then the stone. However, what are the Hightowers doing meanwhile? Leyton and his "mad maid" daughter Malora are apparently themselves looking into obscure knowledge, after all. If you have questions, I'll elaborate on anything.

Has anyone ever covered the possibility of Loras being the Valonqar? Might be a little straightforward, but he is the youngest of the Tyrell brothers. There is already mystery/doubt surrounding his death or current state of health, he could return and realize the position that Cersei put him in or depending on timing come to avenge whatever event Cersei schemes to kill off Margery. Just a thought

Three points - 1) Wouldn't it be an absolute baller move if Martin kept hinting at Jon's resurrection, but never actually did it? Or at least postponed it to Dream and had Jon degrade to a mute character like Stoneheart but still used him as a viewpoint? Shudders... 2) My suspicion is that Shireen will get toasted by her mother, who has the means and has consumed rather more R'hllorian Kool-Aid than Stannis. Stannis will hear of this and his upper lip will wobble; the story about saving Shireen from greyscale (in the show) will spill out to either Theon or Asha Greyjoy. I'd make for a heck of a chapter at any rate. 3) Quinn managed to get to 3.05 without mentioning Jon Connington; congratulations. Baby steps towards a whole video...

Even if this book was released (not counting fan fictions or continuations by other authors), I would bet no major POV character dies. There is exactly one character like this who died in the books. One.
@nickdentoom11732 ай бұрын
The problem for Stannis killing Shireen in the books, is that its out-of-character for him to do so. Its much more likely he sacrifices himself in that case. I am going to be confident here and say that all the characters connected to Azor Ahai, will be safe until at least the final battle for Light, those being Dany, Jon, Davos and Victarion. So far, three of those, have been Reborn amidst Salt and Smoke (Dany, Davos and Victarion and Jon is probably gonna join them soon). Other characters that are safe until the very end are Arya, Sansa, Jaime, Cersei, Tyrion and Samwell. With Victarion, we also have to take something else into account and that is that they killed of Dany's Sea Captain Groleo. Victarion is there to replace him. You haven't mentioned them, but either Theon or Asha as well as Jaime or Brienne are on the chopping block. Like, here is the thing Theon and Asha are currently together, so we need only one POV for that area. Brienne and Jaime are currently together, going to the same place Theon and Asha are at Jon, Melisandre and Davos are also in the North. We simply don't need that many in one place. However, considering Jaime is tied to Cersei, he gets preference over Brienne in terms of surviability. At the other end of the spectrum is that i am expecting Theon willingly sacrificing himself for Asha, maybe jumping in front of a spear or arrow that targets Asha. Now, another possible candidate for death is Obara Sand. Areo Hotah is the only POV character in Dorne, with Arianne being in the Stormlands alongside JonCon (Talking about that, JonCon is a goner too with Arianne become the main POV for Faegons army as his future wife.

@@etoiledeclipse3340 I doubt it though, since unlike show Stannis, book Stannis has done everything in his power to keep Shireen safe. It would be so OOC for book Stannis and will it would be an unexpected, you didn't see this coming, moment, i don't think we won't see that with Shireen and Stannis. There is also Davos we need to take into consideration as well... he is loyal to a fold to Stannis, but also loves Shireen as if she is his own daughter. Davos will probably turn on Stannis if he ever kills Shireen.
@etoiledeclipse3340Ай бұрын
@@nickdentoom1173 I think it's kinda hard to guess where/when Shireen's burning would take place, and I think it's even harder to guess where Davos will be at this point of the story... so I'm not sure if taking him into consideration really changes the picture I don't know if Stannis will actually kill his daughter, but I don't think it is made impossible by his previous actions and words considering how batshit crazy things could go and change the whole game. I also think that because of the way Martin uses myths and history from both Ancient Greece and Rome makes me think that he could use the myth of Iphigenia (being immolated by her father in order to make his army advance) as a blueprint. I may be too influenced by the show on this, however I always thought the mythological parallel was a bit too smart for D&D woops Personally I don't think Stannis is gonna kill Shireen for the reasons you listed, but I don't think it's completely impossible either considering the way things might go down

At some point, he'd have to back another claimant to the throne, and help THEM get there instead, right?! Well, I have a pretty strong feeling that in such a case, Stannis would most likely follow Fake-gon, before he'd follow Dany. Nobody likes that she has dragons. 😅🐉🔥 lol NOBODY. Everybody fears her power, and what she might do. It's going to be a huge problem for her, when she finally makes it over to Westeros.

@Inkspeckle3 ай бұрын
I think if we agree that the prophecy of Maggie the Frog is true, Myrcella will probably outlive Tommen. My main reason for believing is the phrase "gold will be their crowns". Myrcella is currently Tommen's heir (at least for those who believe Tommen is the legitimate king in the first place) until the day he has children of his own, meaning that if he dies, she will inherit the crown by sheer reason of being his only living sibling. (still ridiculous that Cersei became queen in her own right in GoT. she has no claim. She was the wife and mother of the three past kings but she has no royal lineage.) Myrcella's claim to the throne is even the main point of Tyene's proposed plot to start a war with the Lannisters: challenge Tommen in favour of Myrcella, since by Dornish right she is in line before him by virtue of being older. Since that plot was stopped by Doran, I believe she will at least live to be crowned Queen Myrcella once Tommen dies (hence the golden crown). No telling how long she will survive her queenhood of course (not long I reckon). Unless the "golden crowns" is referring to hair color (all of Cersei's children are "gold of hair"), which given how obscure some of ASoIaF prophecies can be could mean that Myrcells wont ever get a real crown after all. who knows at this point
@jclaburn3 ай бұрын
Prophecy in ASoIAF works like it does in Greek myth and Shakespearean tragedy: clear prophecies always come true but never in the most obvious or straightforward way. Hidden prophecies like Mirri Maz Durr’s conditions for Dany’s womb to quicken again and her to bear a living child are arguably even more powerful. We know Dany’s fate can’t be close to the show bc each of the terms of this prophecy are coming true so Dany has to birth a living child at some time in some way, even if it’s upon her own death like the dire wolf mother of the pups adopted by the Stark kids. That would be the kind of twist George Martin likes, but it makes the prophecy come true unlike the show ending. -A Theory of Ice & Fire on Quora

I think Myrcella could survive somehow and fake her death running off with some lover or something. Cersei could be told of the death and sent her funeral shroud. Myrcella is old enough to understand her mother is a deeply unstable and terrible person and that her taking the throne us a death sentence. Cersei being sent the shroud when Myrcella isn't really dead would be perfect comeuppance for her lie to the Dornish about the mountains death. Also even though she wouldn't be aware if it I think one of her children abandoning her would also be a fitting karmic punishment for someone who has caused so much suffering ostensibly to defend her children. Also Martin can't resist breaking patterns and having prophecy come true in a different way than expected. Similarly I think patchfaces skulls surrounding him being a sign that he'll yet again be the only survivor, this time of Stannis' inner circle instead if a ahip, would be a very Martinian prophecy fulfillment.

POV deaths: Aeron Damphair. Barristan Selmy (it pains my heart to say this). Asha or Theon (one will die, but I'm not sure which one). Davos Seaworth (he's too good to survive). Aero Hotah (after finishing all the Darkstar, Myrcella thing). Brienne (probably, although if she dies I think it will be during the later part of the book). JonCon (same as Brienne). Victarion (he'll survive the battle of fire but he won't reach far after that). Cersei and Jaime will both die for sure, but it will most probably be in Dreams. Other deaths: Shireen Hodor Harry the Heir or Sweet Robin (or both) Lady Stoneheart The Boltons (all of them). Stannis (probably at the end, again) Mance (honestly, there's a chance he is already dead and this time for real). (f)Aegon (maybe during Dream rather than Winds) Almost everyone in KL (you know, the bells) and Meereen (we need to get rid of those plot inconveniences) 😅
@nickdentoom11732 ай бұрын
I mean... sure a lot of them will die... but Victarion and Davos won't be amongst them, since everything in the books so far line them up in connection with Azor Ahai (Both are reborn amidst Salt and Smoke at least once, so i have a feeling both are safe until at least endgame). Areo Hotah is at least safe in Winds, as he will be our only eyes and ears in Dorne (Arianne isn't there anymore). Other than that, i feel like you are spot on with the predictions. Barristan isn't need with Victarion around I think Theon dying is more likely than Asha, i think he sacrifices himself for her, taking a spear or arrow meant for her).
@jacedayne15353 ай бұрын
For the Viewpoint prospective I think Areo Otha is surely the one who dies, all the others could still make it into Dreams. Even Barristan could survive and switch to Aegon, and I think Dany needs the fleet of Victarion to reach Westeros and that Valyrian steel axe is too cool to not have Vicatrion pillage Claw Ilsand and take it. About Shireen I am pretty sure she’ll die in Winds I just can’t figure when: 1. She dies before the Wall has fallen and the irony is that Stannis is doing something to stop the apocalypse and wake dragons from stone and instead the Wall falls (unrelated to the death of Shireen the Wall will fall because of the Horn of Winter) 2. Or maybe she dies shortly after the Wall has fallen, the Others are about to invade Westeros and Stannis takes drastic measures to defend his kingdom. But maybe this option kinda absolve him more for this horrible acts what is the life of one girl against the destiny of humanity? About Myrcella’s death my pet theory (I think I have mention it in comment of another of your videos) is that she’ll fall from a window like Tommen in the series. She could either commit suicide like Queen Helena, because after Tyene kills Tommen her betrothal with Trystane is done for (also their name mirirorinfg Tristan and Isolde’s story) in that case she could even survive in Dreams when Cersei retraits to Casterly Rock. The other option is that her death could be framed as suicide like Queen Jahaera, maybe Varys does it, but reader is left with a doubt. I think that along side her broken betrothal, the thing that drives her to suicide is Jaime telling her he’s her true father. They did it in the series even if they had to frame Jaime as the average dad of and action American movie, so she was cool with that. But in the books this could destroy her. “He thought of Myrcella. I will need to tell her too. The Dornishmen might not like that. Doran Martell had betrothed her to his son in the belief that she was Robert's blood. Knots and tangles, Jaime thought, wishing he could cut through all of it with one swift stroke of his sword. "I have sworn a vow," he told Hildy wearily.” “My place is with my king. With my son. Would Tommen want toknow that? The truth could cost the boy his throne. Would you sooner have a father or a chair, lad? Jaime wished he knew the answer.” About Tommen’s death there’s been a recently LCrhis post on Reddit that is very convincing about Tyene using the blessed oil during Tommen’s anointment by the High Sparrow.
@nickdentoom11732 ай бұрын
Area Hotah crossed my mind too, until i realized every 'kingdom/region' has at least one POV at the moment, except for the Westerlands. Considering Arianne Martell won't be around in Dorne in Winds, Areo Hotah will be the only POV character in Dorne we have around Doran Martell. So Areo Hotah should be at least safe until DoS. Thing we need to take into consideration is that we have a lot of POV characters in the North and around Dany. In the North, we have Theon, Asha, Melisandre, soon to be joined by Jaime and Brienne (And proabably Davos and Jon too). I have a feeling Theon and Brienne are going to die... as Jaime is too important for the endgame and connected to Cersei, and Theon is probably gonna sacrificing himself for his sister. The POV alongside Dany who is the most expendable at this point is Barristan Selmy. He basically has served his purpose at this point + doesn't get any younger and i have a gut feeling the Tattered Prince isn't really who he says that he is, but will become Dany's main army commander. Barristan will go down as the badass he is though, protecting Tyrion, taking 50 opponents with him in death in the process.
