Wait so I am a noob and have only managed to do substantial difficulty thus far but Im working on Bulwark and did this mission for the first time not long ago and I swear I was using banner while holding the chalice. Also, the chalice attacks were obliterating enemies and the bigger ones would get staggered like crazy.

It is so dumb to make the heavy or sniper the chalice holder because most of their damage is from primary weapons. You take that awqy you cripple the class too much

Brother Sniper has one secondary and it's just the default bolt pistol. There is not a single build in which the bolt pistol is the main focus of it. Hell it's even got a focus on meleeing. Bulwark is the best pick for it. Hands down. As a Bulwark player i always take chalice and here's why: 1) my blade is primarily used for crowd control. Especially on Lethal. 2) You still have a shield which means you have the best defensive capabilities for the light bearer. Even some offensive capabilities if you're specced for it. 3) As bulwark you arent there for the most kills. Thats why your teammates are there. You're there to be the tank and the support. That means you get chalice while your teammates protect you and you protect them with it's radiant light. Bulwarks arent vanguards. We're not meant to be killing machines. You can get most kills and some people try to be the billy badass with the sword and board but at the end of the day you're there to support the team. That being said: you assholes who hold onto your banners like it's your life's savings need to stop that shit. You can save so many of your teammates if you just put the damn banner down to support them. And then you wont be able to bitch that they suck because you'll be doing your job as the tank!

Anyone not Assault tbh taking away their melee hurts. Bulwark is the best option bc banner isn’t that needed unless your team isn’t very good

Was not mentioned but bulwark still keeps his shield so it’s definitely easier to carry as bulwark

Assault is a good option for chalice since you're not going to be jumping that much during that part of the level. For the laser pointer I elect the sniper - being able to cloak and set up the final shot in peace can save the run.

Bulwark with armor of contempt perk...hands down. Seriously, think about it you are invulnerable to ranged attacks as long as you use your shield and you reflect that damage around you

A few days a go I tackled my last Lethal mission which needed to be done: Obelisk. On my fourth attempt (each try with different strangers) we succeeded with the following team: Bulwark, Heavy and Vanguard (my chosen class). The Bulwark spontaneously picked up the chalice. Whenever a Tzaangor on disc showed up my Vanguard grappled him and then sent melta shots straight into his warped beak. This way they couldn´t pull off their baloney play and were taken out of the game pretty much instantaneous. The grapple gun also ALWAYS hits so the disc bird does not get any boons from his erratic movements. When shots were fired at us out of the dark from Majoris then it is also pretty handy to use the grapple gun as you are not exposed to the darkness for a lengthy period of time like if you were walking up to the opposition.

As a bulwark main I immediately assumed responsibility. It is an absolute HONOUR to carry the sacred relic, to guide my brothers through the dark-anything less is cowardice and heresy.

It depends on the team composition. If there is only one real ranged player then they should not take it for example.

I did it with all classes so it don't matter as long as you play the game.

I always do mechanics like this or shooting bio-titan if I play bulwark or assault. Btw chalice is not useless in combat, you literally do 2 and 3 heavy chainsword attacks in a row. But for the most part you must keep all your range damage dealers because you need them desperately in the dark room since most enemies don't want to enter the safe zone. And on bio-titan I pick the laser because I don't lose anything at all. I use only plasma pistol on bulwark and volkite on assault and those have 100% hip-fire accuracy, I never aim with them in the first place, so I can do everything I usually do and execute the mechanic simultaniously.

If you only have a side arm you carry the chalice. You either have a shield or shouldnt be going off on your own because the environment isnt designed for it. Lol I aay this asca bulwark and assasult main

Assault or Bulwark should the main ones holding it. With assault your not gonna be diving into the darkness less your being dumb. Assault is melee so your not gonna be running out. Along with that you mention banner......that is the main reason you should have the holding the mug. They aren't running ahead and you have to stay with the mug anyway so why not have the guy who can give a heal carry the mug. Class's like heavy, tactical or sniper shouldn't because they can do so much damage with their main unlike assault or bulwark during this part. Vanguard can go either way because they have good guns but their ability isn't that useful in this section of the mission. And like some people mentioned if you have the first two I mentioned and the third guy is either sniper or heavy they shouldn't be holding the cup at all because you have no easy way of dealing with ranged if your leaving it up to the two melee class's.
