The hairy part of Japan's big northern island (Hokkaido) is most likely due to the Ainu. I recommend to watch/read about the history of the Ainu to everyone who is interested in Japan.

DNA testing has recently revealed that they are light skinned hairy relatives of Melanesians and Australian Aborigines. Many ethnic Japanese in Hokkaido are mixed with Ainu, and most of the rest of Japan is mixed with the historic Jomon people, relatives of the Ainu.

It's more likely the influence of the Jomon people than the Ainu. This is controversial, but the latest research indicates that the Ainu arrived in Hokkaido sometime between the 7th and 13th centuries. Even before that, the Jomon were distributed over a large area, including the northern part of Japan.

Regardings the article numbers in wikipedia you can't derive too much just by the number of articels: I don't know about the Cebuan language, but I know that for Dutch and Swedish there where some mayor increases in number by bot's creating articles as very short stubs, out of import of other encyclopedias. In german wikipead e.g. there is a strict control over quality of articles and if they are very small and don't evolving then they get deleted.
@hkrohn

In the case of Cebuano, it's actually due to a Swedish Wikipedian with a wife from the Philippines who made a bot to generate short articles about lots of animals and plants based off a biological database.

In regards to the elite gamer statistics, Europe not only have "good internet", but also, and probably more crucial, a "balanced work life" (which translates to more time for family and hobbies, such as games). Naturally the high purchasing power also helps as that translate to better hardware and larger gaming libraries as you implied. I guess that makes the gamer statistic a good index for how developed a nation is, lol.

The reason that the northern island of Japan, Hokkaido, and the immediate surrounding area was shown as more hairy is due to the presence of the Ainu people. They are an indigenous people whereas the Japanese are not. While the population of the Ainu has dropped quite a bit over the centuries, they have intermarried with the Japanese and passed on their tendency to be a bit on the hairy side.

Petition for Drew to make a series covering Ace Combat and its multiple universes: [Day 195] The Focke-Wulf Projekt 195 (drawing number 0310 221-15) was to be a very large capacity, wide body, all metal construction transport aircraft, submitted to the RLM in August 1941. Also known as the Focke-Wulf Fw 249, this was not an official RLM designation. It was designed to take advantage of the Jumo 222 engines (24 cylinder - 2500 horsepower), which were in development at that time. The wings were placed low on the fuselage, and had eight Jumo 222 engines mounted on the wing leading edge. A twin fin and rudder configuration was chosen for the control unit. A tricycle landing gear arrangement was designed, so that a rear loading ramp could be used. A total of 52 tons of equipment, or 400 fully equipped troops could be loaded. The Fw Projekt 195 was to be manned by a seven or eight man crew.

It's all in the population density. I would not rank my country above the USA, Germany, France, Canada or even Japan. Yes, we do have a great connection to internet and games but the amount of games is less than in those countries above. This is also the reason why UK & Portugal are in the top 3. I personally would rank Germany, Japan, USA as the top 3 gaming countries. Other top 10 countries would include Canada, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, China, Taiwan, South Korea and France.

The concept of the battleship can be traced back to ancient times when naval powers sought to dominate the seas with large, heavily fortified vessels. The triremes of ancient Greece and the dromons of the Byzantine Empire were early examples of such warships. However, it was during the late 19th and early 20th centuries that battleships truly came into their own. The emergence of steam propulsion and advancements in naval artillery enabled the construction of powerful, armored warships that could project force across long distances. The British Royal Navy's HMS Dreadnought, launched in 1906, revolutionized naval warfare by combining all-big-gun armament and steam turbines, making previous battleship designs obsolete and prompting a race to build similar vessels among the major naval powers. During World War I, battleships played a prominent role in several major naval engagements, most notably the Battle of Jutland in 1916. This clash between the British Royal Navy and the Imperial German Navy marked one of the largest and bloodiest naval battles in history. Although the battle was inconclusive, it highlighted the limitations of battleships and the rise of other naval technologies, such as submarines and aircraft carriers. Following the devastation of World War I, nations sought to prevent future conflicts through various disarmament treaties. The Washington Naval Treaty of 1922 and subsequent agreements limited the number and tonnage of battleships each country could build, attempting to reduce the chances of an arms race. However, these limitations fueled a shift towards aircraft carriers as the primary capital ships for many navies. Despite the rise of aircraft carriers, battleships still played a significant role during World War II. The most famous example was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, where battleships, such as the USS Arizona, were heavily targeted by the surprise aerial assault. Later in the war, battleships participated in crucial naval battles, such as the Battle of Leyte Gulf, where the Japanese battleship Yamato made its last stand in a futile attempt to stop the Allied invasion of the Philippines. World War II demonstrated the increasing importance of aircraft carriers in naval warfare. The ability to project airpower over long distances and engage enemy fleets without risking battleships directly revolutionized naval tactics. The Battle of Midway in 1942 marked a turning point, where U.S. carrier-based aircraft sank four Japanese carriers, tilting the balance of naval power in favor of the carriers. After World War II, battleships continued to serve in various navies, but their relevance declined rapidly. The emergence of nuclear-powered submarines and guided missile technology made battleships vulnerable targets, and their high operating costs became increasingly difficult to justify in an era of constrained defense budgets. One of the last battleship actions occurred during the Gulf War in 1991 when the USS Missouri fired Tomahawk missiles at Iraqi targets. Despite their obsolescence in modern naval warfare, battleships hold a unique place in history, symbolizing the might and power of navies throughout the 20th century. Several battleships have been preserved as museums, allowing the public to learn about their historical significance and technological advancements.

Greetings. My name is Beef, and today I would like to present an exceedingly humorous "Your Mother" joke. I will now begin. Your biological mother is so morbidly obese, when she went to go get her yearly physical done, the doctor took her blood and the results concluded that she had a high blood pressure, onset type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and the possibility of heart disease. She also suffers from severe depression, because she lacks confidence in her physical appearance, which enables her to consume even more food, making her more obese. Not to mention, but your mother is becoming so monstrous, she had a hard time fitting through small spaces and exceeding weight limits on practical applications. Your mother has an endless cycle of malicious eating habits that only make her health worsen over time. I hope whoever has just read this has enjoyed the humorous "Your Mother" joke. Thank you for your time, and have a blessed day!

The gamers/capita list makes no sense to me. I'm from Austria (we're 6th), and we're never this high in any list (except when you count genocidal maniacs, of course)) and I can assure you that our internet is pretty crappy and "young" (as in: 15 years ago, it was still a wasteland). The key to understanding probably lies within the very weird way it was measured. Apparently, it benefits from people playing a large amount of games, so countries without a large cultural output who instead incorporate anything they find from outside will be ranked higher. Many of the high-ranking EU countries are also the countries where young folk are best at speaking English, which definitely helps (and is again tied to the incorporation of other media - consume more international stuff and you'll automatically learn English a bit better than those who don't).

People think hairiness is related to cold weather, in reality that is wrong. Hairiness is related to EXTREME weather. That’s why the Middle East and Middetreanean are hairiest as they get very very hot summers and very cold winters, so you need the hairs in winter to warm and you need the sweat glands/pores (located with the hair glands) for sweating in the heat of the summer. Also in desert climate specifically you also need hair around the eyes/in the face to protect from sand and also from sweat, that’s why Middle Easterners tend to have long eyelashes and thick eyebrows… the more you know. Also that map is wrong, they put Pakistan and Northern India as “not hairy” in reality these people are extremely hairy lol. And scandanavia is no wear near hairy as anywhere in South Europe, Middle East or Northern/India and Pakistan.
