So Hyang does her arrangements herself too so her being your top pick is fully justified. As much as I like her voice and impeccable control, what got me hooked initially, and continues to do so till this day is what she chooses to do with it. Her willingness and ability to respect a song, highlight its message and still make it truly her own, is imo her biggest strength as an artist. If I had to bet my life on a vocalist doing justice to a song, Any song, it would be her without a shred of doubt. It might be an unusual criteria but her integrity and the fact that I can trust her to deliver with the highest probability among her peers, is what made me pick her as my current fav vocalist, bar none. And that, despite her being placed below many of my other favs in specific aspects.

Some Filipinos claim that Sohyang is a screamer with no soul or emotion. But she's even more amazing when she sings in her native language. Anyone who has heard Sohyang live will not talk about Autotune or Screamer. At her live concert, I heard her voice and got goosebumps as if it were piercing the pores of my skin one by one. I'm sorry about that her amazing angelic voice is obscured by her crazy high-pitched notes. She is a way more emotional singer than some Filipinos thought.

Filipinos are karaoke style, they dont have the range or the skills. Thats why they are not world reknown singers in any singing platform. Opera, Pop, Ballad, R&B etc. They are quick to praise their own singers and also quick to talk crap about other countries singers. Sorry its the fact, they just dont have flavor or soul. They think belching and low tones are skills, trying to copy soul singers. In the end they are just really good Karaoke singers. Very shaky DDOOONT~~~
