Do a graduated build. From 40s cannons and AA guns, to S500 (or whatever). Be interesting to see a mix of tech as well. War birds bombing, with 5th Gen SEADing.
@jamison8842 жыл бұрын
My only suggestion on effectiveness would be to coordinate the attack (aircraft, munitions, roles) more closely to optimize each attack. Look at third-gen for example, where you mention JDAMs are much cheaper and they appear to have been highly successful via lobbing them in, so theoretically it would have been zero losses with 100% mission success rate for 6-12 JDAMs. Also, yes, the newer tech is more complicated and allows for a a lot more mistakes, but I don't think that should be confused with real-world potential outcomes. I think it's safe to say modern NATO pilots have an extremely high standard of training all in order to limit user error and focus precisely on limiting mistakes during the most difficult and stressful tasks. DCS is extremely difficult to master, but for most everyone it is just a hobby, so I don't expect 99% of DCS pilots to fly as well as a modern US military pilot. Then you add the topic of flying ~5-30 different airframes in DCS and of course there will be mistakes. The closest GR videos have to the skill level of a modern military pilot (in my opinion of course) is Kortana, who could surely succeed at that role given entering that pipeline. So, who was the most successful pilot in each scenario - Kortana. Round 3 isn't her fault, as she flew in harms way 300% more than any other pilot that mission just to help wild weasel. Well, picture how well that third-gen attack would have gone with 8x Kortana robots? Just count the munitions costs and call it a win. I'm not suggesting eliminate others from participating, of course not, but it doesn't hurt to look at the results of the mission and add some inference on how you believe it would have gone if DCS-level piloting was replaced with professional full-time military piloting, versus taking the acrual results and potential silly mistakes and concluding that is how it would simply be. That gives me a new idea. Kortana, how do you feel about a new series, Kortana vs. the world? It would be a huge editing project by you and Cap, where you setup a mission requiring 2 to x number of combat roles, and then you simulate flying each role filmed seperately and combine them into one video of an attack run with many Kortanas. For this mission, it would likely be 2x F-16 SEAD/DEAD/wild weasel and 1x strike to put 6x JDAMs on the runway, all flown by...Kortana. That would be amazing and hilarious. It's much more complicated than that, especially seeing as how you'd have to predict the outcomes of certain scenarios due to differences of flying a seperate role in seperate runs versus the outcome of one run and three pilots (for example, one SAM versus one pilot three times or one SAM versus three pilots one time). Just a fun thought. Thank you all for the content, time it took to setup a complex and what I assume to be a realistic scenario, and all of the wonderful flying. \o/ PS: I get the sense that Kortana is compensated by "someone" for this level of military knowledge. Or, just a truly enthusiastic person who knows what they love.

Can the counter be programmed to include human cost? I know you guys know it, but some of these GR missions seem to just throw human lives at stuff when it wouldn’t have happened if it was in real life. If so, can it be programmed to distinguish between people who survive (eject/ditch successfully) vs die vs are captured (not sure how you’d determine this).

Nations throw human lives at trivial issues all of the time. They like to pretend that they don't but they absolutely do.

The cost of training a pilot scaled up with time, because the flight costs did too so arguably you could just figure in another 5-10% for pilots.... or figure it's included in the price.

The reality behind these defensive systems is they are spread thinly because you never have enough of them or enough of a variety to cope with all vectors of attack - factor in breakdowns and lack of spare parts which are NEVER factored in DCS - means that they are no where nearly as effective as they are on paper. Something like a Tigermoth would get through most modern defences as it can fly under the cover of most modern air defence systems. Gepards would be more use than most of these systems as they are capable against close-in low and slow threats.
