Which Goalie Starts Next Game? - Oilers Lack Physicality

Ryan Rishaug stops by for the 'Got Yer Back Monday Morning Mandate!' He joins the show to talk about last night's Oilers game where he breaks down the goaltending stating that all of the goals that went past Stuart Skinner were not his fault. Shauger looks at Arturs Silovs and how he's outplaying Skinner and making the saves that he's had to. Risahug thinks that Calvin Pickard should get the start in goal for game 4 to show a different look. He then sheds some light on Nikita Zadorov and Carson Soucy's physical play in game 3. Shauger had some heated thought's about the overall physicality of the Oilers and how the team has to take responsibility to try and win this series. He gives his thoughts on the bottom six and who he would play in the lineup. Shauger would like to see Sam Gagner and Sam Carrick inserted into the lineup but he doesn't think that will happen given that they're too slow. He also talks about Adam Henrique and how he's been playing injured and that it's impacted the team heavily.

I honestly don’t think Edmonton can beat Vancouver. Yes, they have the skill. But their defence, goaltending and physical capabilities are is really inferior. And if their only plan is to play 5 guys 30 minutes a night… better luck next year.

Yep Regular season didn't matter. Brockstar scores 4 goals first game against Oilers, Game 3 Brockstar gets two goals and an assist. Looks sort of the same to me.😊

Knob was foolish imo to not have given Pickard more starts all along through the season, because this was very easy to foresee. Now he has to come in "Cold" and take the pressure and try to save the run. Or will knob, like woody, ride one guy who isn't close to getting it done to defeat. Wow, WTH would any coach think you can just ride one inexperienced unproven average goaltender to a cup?? Come on Knob...

Edmonton is a lot like Toronto both have top tier 3 to 4 forwards no depth in the bottom 8 mediocre defense awful goaltending. If Edmonton gets past Vancouver they won't advance after that. Also the vast majority of the Oilers shots are from the outside. Plus Vancouver is breaking down the Oilers

How is goaltending not the reason they lost man. 4 goals in 15 shots thats unacceptable its the goalies job to male saves always has been! So which one is it his fault not his fault hes brutal cannot handle the heat never has been able to. Backup for life

Canucks fan here. My thoughts. 1. Mcdavid Drai potent.. rest of the forwards are not able to do much. 2. Canucks way more physical... 3. Canucks better D overall. 4. Canucks winning face offs 5. I Of course...Silov outplaying oilers goalie. But still... games have been close... simply cause Drai and Mcdavid.

This series will probably go seven games. Regardless of who wins, I believe Oilers are the 7th best playoff team right now, and the Canuckleheads are 8th. The Oilers goaltending will be better for the rest of this series. It couldn't get any worse. They will also begin getting more bounces. Having said this, I can't help feel that the Oilers will lose this series. I hope I am wrong, but it is hard to shake off the feeling. What an unlucky franchise. On the flip side, the Canucks have been very lucky this season. On paper, they should be a bubble to a wildcard team at best. I believe they have severely overachieved this season and will return to their bumbling selves next season after Tocchet's shine as coach wanes into the night. Go Oilers go! Message to the NHL: Protect your star players. There absolutely has to be favoritism towards the talented players in this league, just like there is in the NBA. The fact that McDavid and Draisaitl have not won a cup in Edmonton yet is a travesty. The reffing in these playoffs needs to be better. Canucks fans will remember 2011 and how the NHL made sure that Vancouver did not beat Boston by allowing the lowly Bruins to clutch and grab their way to a Stanley Cup. Although I didn't have a horse in that finals matchup, I remember how hurt everyone who was a Canucks fan was at how they've been robbed of a championship. The NHL does not want a Canadian franchise to win the cup. The fix is always there. Just look at how the oh hum boring LA Kings won two cups in the past. That team was the antidote for people suffering from insomnia. Anyways, enough said.

Šilovs beat the Americans for bronze in the worlds. A Norris D man in Hugh’s. Miller, Boeser, and a Petterson that’s yet to get going. Lindholm who does it all. And guys like Joshua and garland further down the line. Coupled with bigger and much better D core. And lastly a better coach.
