Which is Better? Campervan or Motorhome?

I own an ex rental HI TOP roof Toyota Hiace Campervan.Petrol,manual,2 wheel drive,2.4 ltr motor, 3 brth with sliding bunk up under the HI Top roof that makes it 3 brth.Use it as a van,shopping,and Camper.Only has a portapoti,no room to install a fixed toilet.But Ive always used clean public toilets never had a problem and carry a wee wee bottle for night use,the wife uses it aswell.The lay out is side sliding door entrance,kitchen sink unit with cupboards underneath,pantry cupboard,fridge and gas stove,main large bed pulled out from sponges on each side.Ive owned big motorhomes and found the more space you have,the more you end up takeing. I live in New Zealand and Freedom Camping is my main passion over here.Lakes,mountains,oceans and plenty of camping grounds available.

We changed our coach built (5.75 metres) for a Ford Transit Custom Campervan (5 metre) earlier this year. It’s all a matter of compromise, we gave up tons of cupboard space, hot water, an end kitchen, microwave and full oven for a portable potty, a rising roof and 2 gas rings 😂 and we are both pensioners. However we did gain a great van which fits in a car park space, will travel easily down country lanes without us having to breath in when we pass another vehicle and I love having the big sliding door open in summer - gives us the real feeling of camping. As you say, there’s no right or wrong, just what suits your needs and camping style.

Thanks, enjoyed your review and subscribed. We are looking to downsize from the 2015 7.5m MH we purchased new, for the three dogs and us, toa panel type of MH/CV. I think we need to try before we buy.

For us a 6m professional van conversion with a fixed rear bed with lots of storage underneath, shower room and dinette at the front was the way to go for touring as easier on tight roads and I can get up in the morning and leave Mrs K in bed but I can stay in the van. Cheers K.

We had a coach built from 2006 for 10 years and loved it. At that time our daughter was young so we needed the space, however she got to the age where she didn’t want to go. We had a few years off camping but got a CV20 camper at the start of this year and loving the versatility of it being smaller to nip about Great vlog and channel Rachel, David & Roxy 💕

Panel van 6m with a U shaped lounge for me and use of duvalay sleeping bags for easy make up of beds🙂. Your van does look very cosy though and the Ford cab is definitely more care like. Thanks for your insight and quality vids. ATB Ruth

The eternal dilemma. Camper, caravan or motorhome. Welcome to the club. You may find yourself on a purchasing loop between all of them in the coming year. It's all part of the fun 😊. I'm currently on a caravan but convert vans for a living.

Thanks for the info. Been keen on the F60 for sometime, look forward to your review. It was voted the best in class under £50k! Inflation put pay to that and I’ve lost count of the price increases

We've had exactly that same dilemma ourselves. Everything you've said is what We've gone through. But at moment I've got my transporter for short trips and a caravan for weeks away. I want eventually a motorhome but just worry about narrow roads and parking. What's your feelings on that at all? 😊

Just came across this and your Malvern video. I love your style of presentation, especially when you both recall the same event differently :), so have now subscribed. We've hired a hymer in the past, but are thinking of taking the plunge ready for 2023. We would want a 6' with end washroom, so can't wait for your review. Don't forget to mention prices and whether you negotiated any extras in the deal. How easy is it to climb out of that bed in the middle of the night ? Also why are you cooking outside when you have a perfectly goof oven & hob ?.

We are leaning towards a caravan; we already own a vehicle that can tow 2400KG braked and fuel, MOT, servicing, insurance etc for yet another vehicle does not seem like fun at the moment. I think we will move to a motorhome eventually but we love space so it will end up being a big A Class and at the price of those these days, that will have to wait until retirement when it can be used all the time I think.

Love your channel and have just subscribed. Oddly enough we’ve just bought an Expedition 67 as we wanted something that would fit on our drive rather than having to put in storage. This also meant it became our everyday vehicle. ( other than the Bonneville) Do you have another vehicle?

Have a VW T6 campervan which is brill, very reliable but the ease of a F60 for the more mature of us is attractive. The Ford 170 auto has good reviews. Reliability, Durability of Auto-trail?

I couldn't agree more with your findings, especially on the prices of the VW campervans to coachbuilt motorhomes. There's more bang for your buck with a coachbuilt motorhhome but the coachbuilt one's are more for older couple's and the VW campers are more trendy for the younger one's if you can afford the eye watering prices. Storage on your driveway is the number one priorty because if you can't accommodate it at home there's storage costs to consider which to me is dead money and a dreadful inconvenience, so size definitely matters. Then there is a positive minefield of choice of both layout and manufacturer. Then there's the convenience of where to take it for annual habitation checks and servicing, finding a dealership you can trust, the list is endless.
