Well done Oliver, great topic! There are caravans and motorhomes which are suitable for narrow roads, my Caravan (Eriba Familia) is only 2 metres wide (6'.5"), if my car fits through a gap I know my caravan will go through as well. The same can be said about small motorhomes like a VW California, with both of them you just have to manage your expectations living in a smaller space.

I love to use the caravan as a tourer ...only staying in places 2/3/4 nights ..I would hate to site it for a week or two but probably be different if we had a family in tow too lol Got the setting up and moving on down to a fine art with Aileen ..20 mins usually

Yes we find it takes around 20 minutes.

We store our caravan at Strathclyde Park CMC site where they have a huge area and is a gold storage ...Cost is just over £400 a year and is payable in one payment or over first four months of the year

That’s interesting to Know Bob. We store ours at home so don’t know about storage sites.

Caravanning with the Coxs I probably with taking away Aileens heather bed it would fit in drive but safer in storage

We went from a caravan to a motorhome and found we couldn't get on with it ,so much more stressful,and more restrictive, my advice would be try before you buy .

Thanks Oliver, bob and Jenny. Interesting idea about the camper van towing a caravan as we love popping out for tea by the harbour in our motorhome but does cost a lot as our third ‘car’. Might consider that option in the future but those vw are so expensive. Love my motorhome For now, as you say each to there own whatever suits your lifestyle/budget etc. Happy camping everyone

Motorhomes for ease of use, and no issues if you haven't got a driveway or garage. Disadvantages, you have to take the motorhome with you, when going shopping etc......where as,.with the Caravan, you can just take the car..

I've been waiting for this for such a long time, great chat and interesting differences between motorhomes and caravans. It's given me more to think about for my upcoming retirement, oh my brain hurts. Do I need a motorhome and a car or a car and caravan!
