God I luv Nemophila's covers.. they just have soooo much fun and they are soooo good! Look at any Nemophila song you find.. and you will enjoy! They are just super accomplished and they go hard!!!

I watched both live versions of this and preferred the Nemophila live. The studio versions are hard to judge because Nemophila just went in and did it all in a massive studio in one take from what Mayu said. Sort of like a live studio production. The Nemophila free livestream had this and I was surprised at how close it was to the studio version till I heard Mayu’s explanation of how they recorded it.

Thanks for uploading and reacting to both versions. IMO, the instrumentals are true to the original as I have come to expect from such a talented group. The biggest difference is of course the vocals. Honestly, I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. They are naturally different with the female versus male voice. I’ve been listening to so much Nemophila and many other Japanese female bands that Mayu’s voice is really imbedded in my mind and preferred. Of course if you are a long time follower of SOAD, I might expect the male voice to be preferred. Great song and cover. ❤️❤️🌸

Excellent comparison video. I am originally a fan of SoaD, so this was more like I wanted to see how Nemophila pulls this off. I agree with you - all things taken into consideration, this is pretty darn good.

nice reaction Mark, appreciate seeing the original as I have recently become a fan of Nemophila and not very familiar with SOAD. as others have said some of the bandmembers are fans of SOAD, the t-shirts are spotted in a few videos.The feeling I get from the great covers Nemophila does, they are fans and the covers are tributes(they try to get accessories and clothing that evokes the band and era in most vids). It's such a pleasure to have this band as well as Band-Maid to enjoy for me, both great groups who are all fine musicians and also close friends seemingly. Nemophila original stuff has quite a variety, not only Metallica, but also a faith no more vibe to a lot of the heavier stuff, but they also do power ballads and more pop rock sounding things--both in the covers and in the original stuff its a smorgasbord, but I can give you a few suggestions for reactions! early covers that are great would be "Whole Lotta Rosie" AC/DC , "Aces High" Iron Maiden, "Crazy Doctor" Loudness, "I want Out " Helloween, more recently I think the cover of "Walk" by Pantera is great(they also do Foo Fighters song "Walk", and as always its great job) ...for originals please check out one of the live versions of "Oiran" and "Dissension"(both studio and live are great on that one).

Me gustó mucho su comentario y análisis general! Es una banda sorprendente, hasta para mi, jamas pensé que me iba a gustar una banda japonesa ! Es que son muy buenas! La cantante Mayu es la distinguida y diferencia entre las bandas japonesas! Es única, insuperable! Una verdadera estrella del metal fuerte! Recomiendo el cover de Journey, ACDC, Metallica, Maiden, ufff. Todos son obras de arte.

Maximum the Hormone are often compared with System of a Down. The song that sold me on them was Yoshu Fukushu. A minute in I was laughing. Four minutes in I was crying. Despite not understanding the Japanese lyrics, I felt like I knew what the song was about (the video had clues but no giveaways).

I like Nemophila's cover better. Saki and Hazuki singing of Sugar is so cute. I admit that these Japanese female bands have taken over my mind and it is harder for me to enjoy male voices.

Anything by Nemophila is good!. . . Any band would love to have them cover their song. But should be afraid that they will make it better. Nemophila have done a lot of covers songs. They are all good. Check out the Lynkin Park cover.

Dude... "A duck on cocaine with a mouth full of marbles"??? That is bloody hilarious... Ha Ha ha.. Great reaction and good idea to put them side by side.. SOAD is a ledgendary band of Iconic status and like you say No one can cover them. However, being a die hard Nemo fan Of course I preferre this version. Probably because they make a very dark song bright and fresh and just the fact that they have the "No ***** given" attitude to go ahead and do a cover of one othe most difficult songs in SOAD's dicography, and do it, In my humble opinion really well.. You ask, "what other songs should I react to"? In one word, ALL The more you do the more you will see just how good they are and how many sounds they can produce, covers from Iron maiden to Metalica, Sekima II to Maximum the hormone and so many in between. (Check out their AC DC cover of Whole lot of rosy, Kiss's Detroit rock city, and Journeys separate ways). That is not including their own material which is really really good. You have done Raitei, check out Oiran, Monsters, Sorai, Dessension, Change the world, Hypnosis and Zen (do the lives and or the MV's its all good) For starters. I guess it depends whether you think the original is profound once you get past the comically frenzied music. I don't, and therefore I see the slight silliness of the cover as a good thing. Having said that, I much prefer Nemophila's original music to their covers, even to their covers of favourites like Iron Maiden.

Gotta love SOAD, but Nemofila are a class act, the music was (as always) on point, and Mayu’s vocals , for the tiny girl she is were fantastic too, definitely not as the original but damn she’s got some lungs on her

Kind of embarrassing but when I was young I was rather dismissive of System of a Down, and I really regret it because especially some of their less popular music is really cool. At the time I was pretty much only into techno and grunge, but I think if I'd been more open minded at the time, I would have really enjoyed it and grown with it instead of just rediscovering it now.

Most of Nemophila's covers are more tribute than cover. They're generally pretty faithful but they're more concerned with doing a good job than on cloning the original. Many of the band are big SOAD fans. This was great but, for me, the Limp Bizkit cover they just released is even better - and I don't even like Bizkit.
