I got both... My opinion I think the Academy is better form my style of play. I cut and run around a lot and the Cut 3 just digs into my pinky toe a bit. I double sock now to remedy the situation and it has been working. My only con to the Academy is that the cushion could be better but other than that they were good right out the box.

its just a different colorway of the shoes. it stands for All Star Week which is a big week for the sneaker community and some shoes therefore gets a different looking shoe. it will perform as the normal one, it just looks different and better then the original colorways.
