It was a good review, and nice to see actual numbers to reflect what I have seen. After living in both countries I agree that the standard of living is similar in both countries, but the working poor in my opinion, generally do better in Canada. You take your pick based upon what you find important. The Canadian summers are beautiful and hot, while some people prefer the snow (skiing, snowmobiling, x country skiing, skating, hockey, ice fishing etc) to months of mild rain. The UK (in my opinion) has a richer culture and history. I chose Canada.

Cost of living isn’t accurate, not everyone will live in London. Compare with other cities in the uk and see the massive difference in rent prices

US beats everywhere when it comes to compensation and opportunities (generally salaries are significantly higher in the US). But US society is horrible, and there’s more to life than high salaries. You can’t go wrong with either uk or canada. But if PR and settling in is your main goal, Canada is easier. In UK, you’ll be worried for 5 years that your employer could fire you and you’ll be out of the country. Beyond 5 years though you’ll probably get PR. But before that you’re gonna be sweaty and sleepless
