The turner I suggest in this video is currently out of stock, and I've contacted the manufacturer and they haven't responded as to when or if it will be back in stock. I have also used this turner from Amazon and it would be my second choice: amzn.to/3kGyjuT

Newbie here. Can you please explain the reason for a cup turner? Is it just so it can be held on a steady surface & turn so you can get to all sides of it hands free? Like is there something special that the turning does?
@DIYAlex3 жыл бұрын
Epoxy is self-leveling, so that's why a cup turner needs to hold the tumbler level while the epoxy is curing.

I am new to the epoxy world. What other projects do people epoxy on those turners? I seen cups and pens done on them. I have craft bear claw nails, from hobby lobby, I wanted to paint and epoxy and I have a fake gentlemen's smoking pipe that I decorated and needs to be epoxyed. Would they be ok and evenly coated without the turner or would the epoxy drop off and I would need the turner to keep everything on and even? Not sure what to do.
@DIYAlex3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what either of these things are shaped like, but epoxy needs to be kept level in order to dry correctly. That’s the main key.

Do you have a recommendation for a four cup turner?
@DIYAlex3 жыл бұрын
I haven't used a multi-cup turner. Sorry about that!

Can you push the tumbler all the way up. What happens if you get epoxy on the foam? Will the tumbler come off?
@DIYAlex4 жыл бұрын
If you get epoxy on the foam the foam will rip away when you remove the cup and that's fine. You can also cut the foam that's stuck off with an exacto knife. No big deal!

Ooh good question. I don’t have it with me, but I estimate it’s about 7 pounds.

context first. i saw some listing on FB marketplace, a person was selling a cup turner they had built, and i became curious on what the hell this deal is. so a quick google to your video. so you had some kind of tie dye .. cup? which needs turning for hours after you put epoxy all over it to dry? buuuut whats the end game here? making and decorating cups to sell or something? - not being rude, im just curious

Yes, people decorate the outside of stainless steel tumblers and coat them with epoxy. They can use glitter, alcohol ink, paint, and several more materials to do a lot of creative things with the tumblers. You don't have to sell them, but lots of creators do. I just create tutorials on how to make them and give them as gifts for my friends and family.
