yeah just 1 nuke in soul will be enough to evacuate the entire city. He didnt talk about nuclear fallout which would devastate them. Add in 1 or 2 bioweapons and no one will stay in soul to make it an effective city. This in turn will cut the economy and manufacture base of the south by a half, if not more since the other cities inhabitants will not want to be next for a nuke.

NKR use civilians as hostage to held up its country via the threat of nuclear weapons. If they are ever to be used, it will be a mass catastrophe to both S and N Korea. N Korea will very likely to be under heavy military intervention from China and US. I don’t think China would take lightly from a vassal who can throw nukes for ambitious reasons. As for S K allies, they will force to intervene if they don’t wanna risk the allies collapse. If they don’t act, what is the value of being allies?

I have my doubts how effective their nukes would be. If they land and blow up sure, but making it to targets would be hard. Binkov himself said out of the 60 they have, only a few can even be fired like that. The further into the south they go, the less chance it will actually impact.

Tinman 18 exactly :) South Korea has both the means and funds to develop an army twice the size with nuclear capacity with just couple years, if US move out. South Korean can get nukes, declare its survival depends on it, like India vs Pakistan, and careless what UN says
@JZ909
@JZ909 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think South Korea would change its military all that much. If North Korea can employ nukes effectively, a larger South Korean military isn't going to help a whole lot. If North Korea can't employ nukes effectively, the current South Korean military would crush North Korea's military pretty easily. Instead, I think South Korea would work to counter the North Korean nuke threat, and to be frank, they're already doing it. Their 3 new destroyers will be BMD capable and I'd be surprised if their older 3 don't get upgraded to the same (or better) standard at some point. Also, they're developing a higher altitude ballistic missile defense system to fill the gap between naval SM-3s and Patriot PAC-3s, probably to take over for the U.S. THAAD that is already in country. As for the low altitude threat. Outside of a surprise attack, when there aren't combat aircraft in the air, I think it's overstated. The vast majority of North Korean aircraft and air defenses are better described as historical artifacts than combat systems. In a big, complicated war, maybe some stuff slips through, but I have my doubts even about that. The employment method most likely to succeed is probably some sort of nuclear mine, but while that may end an invasion, it's not going to win the war.

mattbenz99 Reviews Not necessarily. The homies who rule in Khartoum went through four different leaders with the same promise: crush the people in the region now known as South Sudan. The three biggest tribes (and the ones that hate each other the most) are the Dinka, Nuer and the Merle. But they put their differences aside to frustrate Khartoum's attempts to crush them. For decades. The Dinkas in particular are considered a warrior tribe. The so-called "Zulus of East Africa". They chased the British off with their tails between their legs. They made the Arabs in Khartoum look like clowns. And the UN peacekeepers are proving unable to handle them. But give the 60 + tribes a reason to unite and they will be a force to be reckoned with. Just like before...

German soldiers had food good paying wages and seen how well Hitler did for the country. In NK they are starving 24/7 and many see through the brainwashing and escape to the rest of the world. They can try to fight without food but they will starve to death or collapse not able to push into SK. North Korean soldiers also dont have better IQ, Technology, Leadership, and Generals that the Wehrmacht had. NK would be destroyed by any army and the only thing that might be able to save them but probably not would be China.

I mean this is implying that North Koreas nuclear missiles and bombs don't explode in flight, or on their launch platform. I hear they have a 60% failure rate in missile launching. And lets just say they have 100 nukes. By that number only 40 are workable. Of those 40, how many will be subject to successful anti-measures? How many will actually hit their intended target? Accuracy of the weapons is another concern for North Korea. But Binkov, you are forgetting two other important factors as well - North Koreas stockpile of chemical and biological weapons. How do they affect the battle? And how long does this war last until there is a clear victor?

Why wouldn't you just keep that a secret go in and put some type of explosives on support beams all through it and if a war happened wait until they have a decent amount of troops tanks a acps and other weapons going through the tunnel and just before they hit the other side explode all the ordinance.

If that's freedom then not even a person unfairly thrown in prison by some dictator would want it.

I agree with this scenario, all except for 1 point. The Size of the North Korean Army, most of it like you stated is comprised of conscripts, true, however if North Korea violated the ceasefire with South Korea and reignited the war with them, you'd probably see alot of mutiny as morale in North Korea is not that great thanks to decades of sanctions, militarized opression, forced labour etc etc. Youd probably be looking at a 1/4 or maybe a 1/3 of their forces turning on the North Korean regime, so not also would they be fighting a technologically superior military with greater capabilities and power projection they would also be trying to tackle a pretty large scale civil war and because most of the people fighting will have military training, courtesy of the regime itself, youd be looking at a very rapid defeat for North.

I totally understand that the point of this channel is to present a thought experiment devoid of external meddling or politics, but it's surprisingly hard to ignore the human aspect here. Would the North launch a nuke, knowing the consequences? I feel like it's virtually impossible to conceive of a 1-on-1 battle here.
@LAVATORR
@LAVATORR 6 жыл бұрын
thedorsa thestarting But again: While I understand this is a thought experiment that's trying to disregard the human factor, it feels like the real takeaway here is that this is a fool's errand. If the DPRK launched one nuke, let alone several dozen, every person involved in the chain of command is dead. Period. There's no scenario where Kim Jong Un or his generals launch a nuke and go back to running their country. And they know it. You can't shelf that because it's too big a hurdle to jump. It's like asking "if my aunt had bals, would she be my uncle?" You have to ignore so much of reality to even begin addressing the question that you might as well start fucking around with the quantity and quality of military hardware as well, getting those numbers wrong is far more likely than a cadre of self-interested sociopaths voluntarily signing their own death warrants.

I dont know what happened in the last years, but for example 10 years ago many large cities (we are talking here about cities with several hundred thousand people!) were without electricity for weeks, North Korea is putting by far the largest part of their money into the military, and maybe even more incl. the "secret" rocket, nuclear and maybe bio or chem-weapons programs, but already the 25% of the GDP are crazy, not 25% of the budget... the whole GDP! Thats by far the worlds largest... I think from the budget much more than 50% are going into the military sector, and also incomes from the not so legal income North Korea has (Woman, workers for southern company which don't get paid, the state gets the money, they get points and maybe can buy chocolate or coffee or other things they can't otherwise for working at least 12 hours in special zones in the border area... and they are proud to serve the godlike kim 3.0, the last time I heard of such a system is from East-German workers building the pipelines in Western-Siberia and other parts of the Soviet Union, they also could buy the goods which were only available against western currency in special shops), however 25% of the GDP into military but still there were shortages of oil, spare parts, pilots are not well enough trained, same like the ship crews, as the draftees don't cruise around with fuel hungry and old engines, they also were the last country which used steam locomotives, and as fuel they used old car tires for a group of locomotive-fans which travelled to north korea, a camera team joined them, they paid over 2000€ per person only to enter the country and this already with connections (the one guy was from east-germany and worked for the stasi, later they interviewed a german speaking north korean old man in pjöngjang, Military budget and fuel...I remember that I did read China gave North Korea 2 million tons of aviation and jet fuel for free because oil price was low and they support them (its a puffer for China and Russia, so no US troops in Korea at their border), after that they increased training flights, on their own they couldn't "waste" fuel and spare parts for training... also most secret made videos I saw showed men which were pushing a vehicle which had no fuel or the engine was broken and they were on the "roads" (as said only very little is paved, a few cars per hour sometimes only cross these roads but very large amount of people clean it from snow...-15°C and colder and people are doing "ice fishing" if you move away from pjöngjang because they are hungry, in the 90's they searched in old coal areas for pieces of coal and died eat anything, and unlike africa the cold makes it really bad, what can you expect from such a country? without nuclear missiles it would be like all the poor african states, just that they even don't accept help except goods, but no foreign doctors or other helpers... and who sends the most food to North Korea? The US and South Korea... China needs to import food itself, so if China gives anything than they need to import more food from other countries, in most cases being the US, its a privilege to live in pjöngjang...old and sick people are send away, workers from other regions which increased coal output are allowed to visit pjöngjang because only here a few modern things for recreation exist, (its strictly forbidden for film any north korean military for the few visitors which only can move with a guide... only in their hotel they are alone, but the guide is in the hotel too and some journalists said they heard in the only hotel for people from the west they installed bugs to listen what is said... and one reporter showed the TV... 1 station, and after the news... a problem, 0 stations :P The Hotel was build during better times under Kim 1.0 I guess for visitors also from the European Iron Curtain states and other friendly states, its extrem empty, always much more people who are working there than guests, and they have installed an unusual strong diesel-generator system so that the building can run on its own for days...thats also the reason why they constructed so much tram-lines... they dont need diesel... and thats is already with chinese support (if we take away US support for the South than any Chinese, Russian etc. support for the North too), the coal industry which could at least provide enough energy so that even other cities than pjöngjang would have power at least for the most time are hard to realize as they spend all the money into their large amount of old tanks for example... but even much worse than in the military even the guides could not hide the shortage of motorized vehicles and/or diesel fuel, although they already showed a extreme modern farmer "union" (that system is really not comparable to ours, a few years before the docu they were allowed to work a bit together and sell a very small part of their food, later with chinese/russian help they got a bit larger number of fertilizers, fuel and vehicles to the important farm areas and allowed them greater amounts to sell on the north korean market and china provided cheap heavy vehicles for that farmers through the state, so that always Kim 3.0 gets the "thanks" and not China, so maybe it improved a bit in food and maybe bio fuel, but not serious enough, nazi germany had much more fuel reserves when they started the attack against Poland (on normal use of all 3 main forces using also morale bombing on warsaw and by the kriegsmarine in coastal areas it was less than 30 days total, high quality submarine and aviation fuel even a bit less, and the US did send for example 500 tons of an important chemical to produce 95 octane and higher fuels in the "Hydrierwerke" to I.G. Farben and Leuna only hours before France/UK declared war to Germany. THATS business...

No mention of enormous Nork commando forces. Sending them all at once across the border via mass mini sub and An-2 Colt waves, the latter of which might not show up on radar given low altitude and slow speed, could wreak havoc especially in decapitation scenarios.
