He swaps between the (more known) Bricklink names and and those Lego uses internally. For Lego almost every color has at least a two-part name, usually adding "bright" to all those classic colors. This causes extra confusion on green: There Bricklink also has a "bright green" (which uses the same name everywhere). The other "green", which is used for most plants since the 1960s is called "dark green" by Lego… And what the rest of the universe calls "dark green" is "earth green"… An even more silly pair is "earth orange": Usually a short lived predecessor to bright light orange, mostly known from Orient Expedition, it's called "light orabrown" bei Lego. Because their "earth orange" is the historic brown…

Nice video! I'd also like to see a version of this list ranked by the ratio of bricks to colors. It wasn't too surprising that some of the top sets from this list were just massive sets; more bricks, the higher chance they're going to use more colors. I'm curious which sets have the most unique colors relative to brick count.

definitely set 4559287-1 (and other sets for different regions with the same inventory.) It's a promotional polybag with 2 parts, one of which (a rock monster head) is dark bluish gray, and the other one of which (a rock monster body) is trans neon green (which is admitedly dual molded with dark bluish grey, .but trans neon green is the primary color, and even if you count the piece as both colors, it dosn't change anything.). That's one part per color. There are probably other sets with a similarly tiny number of bricks that match this, and you'd probably want to place some arbitrary lower limit (say, 50) on the number of bricks to prevent this sort of thing when analysing using this metric.

@@Drag0nFighta I have not seen the interior. I know that Lego tries to add variety to the interior, but it seems pretty limited. I have built a few UCS models, and while they do include a big variety, the overwhelming majority are gray.

Its still going indicative of how well it sells and the sets especially in recent years far surpass lego city in terms of build quality and interiors. I haven't found anything I actually can't distinguish as a colorblind person, but I've come across a few that are really really hard to tell apart for me. Some examples would be light aqua and white, bright pink and medium azure, and lime and bright light orange.

I'm not colorblind, but I had some trouble distinguishing the colors at a couple of points while building set 40644 Pinata. The instructions made it hard to determine exactly which color was being called for.

i think it helps with the immersion. and technically you can use any brick of the same shape in place of another, especially if it's hidden by other bricks. i have a couple pieces i lost from the insect collection, that i was able to substitute with some spares of completely incorrect colors, since it was hidden by the rest of the build

I think that even if you aren't into the Ninjago theme (I am not), knowing the sheer variety of colors in them is incredibly useful because you can get your hands on one of those sets and have the pieces in your collection for reference. If you already have a huge collection I guess that's not a priority, but for people who have to do LEGO on a budget, this could be a great way to get a lot of color variety that will help them figure out what colors they enjoy building with in a way that a screen just cannot accomplish.
