***Update - Airports are the same handcrafted ones from 2020, however they have been upgraded and improved for 2024. This means that if you had premium deluxe in 2020, you will automatically get access to these airports in 2024, even if you go for the standard edition. Same goes for aircraft.

Best video possible on the topic. You concisely lay everything out for everyone considering purchasing MS FS 2024. I think I'll go with the premium deluxe edition.

Premium Deluxe gives you the best bang for the buck...the difference is abt $80 between standard and PD edition. standalone planes from asobo are abt $20, so if you are looking to get 4 or more aircrafts over the std edition, PD is the best, plus you get more airports

The only edition that should be considered for preorder is the collectors editions (assuming you want this one), because that one is limited and contain physical goodies like a model of an airplane and a bag. There is no reason in preorder a digital copy, they won't run out of code somehow. Personally I will start with the standard edition, and maybe upgrade later.

i order the premium deluxe as we in uk cost more £129 99p but its my xmas present just hope its as good as there say so going to down load all my 2020 flightsimm and start again with flightsimm 2024

I'll definitely get the 'Premium Deluxe' as I did with 2020, but I don't think I'll pre-order this time. I'll be a release day buyer though.

None. I have spent hundreds on the existing one so how about a discount for existing investors and a promise that existing addons we paid for will be compatible. I am spending nothing until I know if we are being screwed. How long until v3 comes out?

I had premium deluxe for ms2020 and if some of these aircraft do appear to cross over to standard version of ms2024 my question why pay again just buy them individually if you like the new aircraft in the 2024 deluxe version .my advice as been flying sim since 2004 addition is buy standard and head to just flight store and buy some good quality aircraft as the 3rd part aircraft not that good and I found the 787 etc boring . Bae 146 and pa28 arrows from just flight are amazing . So be standard for me this time around and spend some money better on professional aircraft

That is very true. I should do a video on that. But for now, if you google FS2024 specs, there are a few websites that have them displayed.

I brought the premium deluxe edition in 2020 for around US$100 (exchange rate differences). Surprised that 2024 is "only" US$130. Checked the specs, not too onerous, but might have to upgrade my CPU for recommended. Question, do you have to pay for the planes you already "own" in 200 ? And I have few 3rd party planes that will hopefully work in 2024.

Doesn’t look like you need to pay for them. They should all port over to the new sim. Here is a quote from them. “With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.” Take a read of these FAQs. They do say that 3rd party developers have the option to charge for upgrades into 2024. So I guess it will depend on the developer.

What if you are interested in gliders, paragliders, and ultralights? (slow flyers) Which version would be best?

I believe you are best off with standard or premium deluxe. I believe standard has 3 gliders. While premium deluxe has one more additional glider. So your best option might be, to go with standard and purchase the other glider after the fact.

Yes. It sounds like you can upgrade at a later time. You can also buy the airplanes / airports separately from the store later.

Is this a brand new game/simulator? Is it based on the innovations of MSFS 2020 with the open world features?

It is based on the 2020 sim but they have rebuilt it in a way that required them to package it as a new sim. The way the sim runs is different. It sounds like it will actually perform better than the 2020 sim due to the technology they use to run it. The entire sim has been rebuilt.

I preordered the premium deluxe, but I have no idea where the aircraft is that we supposedly get with preorder. Its not in the sim for download, its not been emailed. So I have no idea where its supposed to be

What do they mean by Handcrafted Airports and Aircraft?

These are airports with extra details. The standard airports are generated with satellite images and other procedure processes that allow them to add buildings where the AI system believes they should be. However the hand crafted ones are modified and polished by the developers to ensure all the details match the real airport. You will just have a lot more detail in those. These will be some of the larger airports.
