David, I have ran those brands for decades. The Dingo is a good machine, but has issues with tracks over time, and has a great engine. Bobcat is a good machine, but the hydro system hasn't been as responsive. The Vermeer is a great machine, good tracks, and is dependable. No matter who you go with, strongly consider the distance to your nearest dealer because you will need service and repairs. I have always bought my machines new or as demo units so that I know the history of the machine, know it has been serviced, and can take care of it long-term. Lastly, I recommend secondary hydro to run a 90lb hammer off the machine when you need it (e.g. thick steps or hammering out reinforced concrete). I see the one unit in your video has it. Good luck to you and let us know what you get! All the best, Matt in Ohio

I have a 2005 Dingo Tx420, and put 350 hours on it since I bought it 2/2018. I have rebuilt the wheel motors, replaced tracks 2x, replaced most of the road wheel bearings, rebuilt the track guides, rebuilt one of the main track idler wheels, replaced bearings in both track idler wheels, replaced the positive battery terminal that went bad, and replaced the starter. One of the relays popped almost all the way out of the relay holder, and after replacing it, the engine started up. Also the carb fuel solenoid wiring went bad, so I ran a new wire to the solenoid so the engine would run again. Now the engine won't charge up the battery, so I have to fix that. But this machine is a beast. With my homemade stand, I've been able to pick up 1200# on flat ground. (even though operating capacity is 535#.) It just doesn't like to start in cold weather.

I shopped them all, I purchased a Vermeer CTX100 for $32k, best piece of equipment I have,I use it almost daily, you keep finding new ways and attachments to use with it. I installed Generac Generators with it, from grading, to hauling gravel, 48” trenching, backhoe, dirt and snow blade, 48” pallet forks.i move over 1/2 a ton when placing units with concrete preformed pads attached. You pay more upfront, but that turbo diesel has the horse power when needed.

I used a Vermeer for about 80 ft of sidewalk work last month. It won't dig very well, but was great for everything else including shallow scraping . Very nimble, I had to work between retaining walls and close to trees. The Vermeer is great for specific types of work, it was what I needed at the time.

I own a vermeer and use it for landscaping, concrete and paver work. I've tried all the other brands and decided to go with vermeer 4 years ago because of how easy it is to use. Also liked how comfortable and safe it feels standing in the equipment and not floating outside. It also makes it easier in tight areas. Made me feel like I am part of the equipment. Reliable equipment and RDO Rancho Dominguez has been great in service.

I have run many different brands, here is my input: Dingo: belt driven pump looses power with age and gives issues, the walk behind platform gets caught up in the dirt when digging, not enough power to the drive in wet conditions to skid sideways. New dingo tx1000 riddled with issues, there are way too many with 100-250 hours for sale. Vermeer s450tx Hands down 100 times better than a dingo, gets in tight spaces, makes life easier, only get a bigger machine if you are trying to lift lots of heavy items, but for digging it is great. Boxer: Stay away, not enough power to the drive tracks, can’t spin in a circle in the mud. Terrible controls and platform, platform has too much movement giving a calf workout all day. Bobcat- unfamiliar with it, until recently they had a different attach plate than others so I never bothered Ramrod/Thomas parts are hard to get, self leveling design is a bad design for dirt work or moving gravel. You can’t ever get materials off the front lip of the bucket to the back of the bucket without going up and doing it by hand. Ditch witch: best machine in my opinion, open design tracks don’t get plugged with debris, faster than a Vermeer and at a better price point.

what size ditch witch, the Vermeer CTX100 beat the Ditch Witch 1050 in lift capacity, high flow option, and price point. Just my experience, I also demo'd bobcat, toro, avant, and multi-one. Every industry is different, and all users are different. One thing I never see referenced is dealer support, crucial selling point, service and parts turn around are big time. Hey Dave! I picked up a Vermeer 925 (the ctx100’s little brother) earlier this year. So far we have put a 120 hrs on it and we love it. Why I didn’t go with the ctx100 -$7000.00 more than the 925 -they have the same lifting capacity -the ctx is 6 inches longer -they dig the same. The 40hp is really only needed in my opinion if you will be running a lot of high flow attachments such as trenchers, augers, or mower attachments all the time. I really haven’t thought once “I wish I would have gotten the bigger machine”. Anyways, let me know if you have any questions! I did quite a bit of research and testing on these before I pulled the trigger. As somebody else mentioned, whoever Services you the best would also be a deciding factor. RDO equipment where I am from is awesome.

I recently purchased the bobcat s70 and so far it’s been good to use only thing I can say I don’t like is the stability sometimes is really bad. Hello.I own a Ditch Witch SK 600. I can fit in a 3 foot gate which was my first requirement. We install artificial turf in Phoenix so it loads a lot of wheel barrels mainly. My limited experience with the mini skid-steers is this: I rented a Toro Dingo that was a wheel-driven unit. What a worthless POS that was! It had the optional stand-on platform which was good. All I had to do was to backfill a 12" ditch that was about three feet deep that I had dug for a gas line -- or so I thought. About halfway through I realized that I had forgotten about the ten tons of sand in the bottom of the ditch. So I ended up having to carry a scoop of soil at a time down to a ditch on my property. I don't know if all the Dingos are like this but here's the dealbreaker on the one I had. You can't move the hydraulics while in motion. They weren't locked out or anything -- it was just the way the controls were set up. So if the terrain varies (as it will) you have to constantly stop moving to raise or lower the scoop. Totally ridiculous. I also used the Vermeer with the 40-horse motor on tracks but it was hooked up to a stump grinder. Awesome machine. The controls were set up way better. Plenty of power for the stump grinder so I would imaging that it could handle the scoop with no problems at all. The only thing was that it was February and chilly and the radiator is right at the operator's legs and the air flow required me to wear three layers of pants while I worked. If it's not cold I'd say that it wouldn't be an issue. That's all I got.

I had a dingo and my father sustained a serious back injury when the machine went over a rock with the bucket elevated. Given the distance between the tracks and where the operator stands- it becomes a catapult and creates a slingshot type action. I sold the unit soon after and would only consider the asv units like the rc30 because of the safety advantage.

I have 3 dingos. I am on the east coast with primarily clay soils, and these machines are used primarily for their different types of tools, not a production environment of moving dirt. I have boring units, trenchers, vibe plows, Harley rakes, buckets, forks augers and snowplows for them We have had no issues with them, They are not particularly good at any task, but they can do so many things mediocre . We love ours and they are the first things my guys load up. Light footprint, gets through all gates, couldn’t ask for more. The paddle on the dingo can get tiring to use, but the twin sticks on other units require more skill to use and can be real jerky Just about anyone, in a couple of hours, can become decently proficient at using the paddle style controls

I know of a guy with a ride inside Vermeer.. its built super heavy duty and stands up to use in the woods. Given the choices of what we see in the video, my vote is Vermeer. Its a bit bigger but very very capable to do a huge range of jobs with powerful aux hydraulics.. For just light dirt, the Dingo might be the best bang for the buck, but for a capable tool that can do a range of jobs, and run augers, splitters, hammer, ripper, and scoop, invest in the big boy. It also has compound action on the boom, keeping it forward when scoop lifting high to load a truck or waste trailer. Huge advantage there.

I would use a self loading tracked dumper on this application, they are 32" wide carry 19cu.ft of material and would save you a guy pushing a wheelbarrow, you can also get high dump models that will lift over the side of a dump trailer.

I haven't run mini-skid loaders but I've run a lot of farm and construction equipment and I have to say Vermeer makes very good stuff. We had a 48" trencher from them that was built like a tank. Their hay equipment is high quality. Vermeer makes pipeline, utility install, agriculture and forestry equipment. They know how to engineer tough equipment. Next time you see a utility crew with a directional drilling machine or a tree crew running a chipper, there's a good chance they are running Vermeer equipment. I prefer Bobcat skid loaders (full size) to New Holland and JD, but I really like the Kubota cab machines.

I would go with the Vermeer, even though it could be a little more pricey you are going to make your money back by getting the job done faster. And if you ever have to clean up concrete that extra hp is a big help. Plus if you ever get into doing other odd jobs that need attachments you'll need the hp.

I’ve rented a few of these machines... and found it difficult to load a dual axel dump trailer. The machine can only get so close to the trailer, and the bucket dumps along the sides of the trailer. You have to get in the trailer and re-distribute the material away from the side walls..

Ditch witch makes what I believe has the longest reach but it is still a problem when loading into a bobtail loads my dump trailer fine no problem but the higher you have lift to dump the shorter the span to dump , but the ditch witch is a beast with a breaker attachment and they also make a 3’ dirt tiller that mills down 1” to 6” of hard pan like butter and leaves the dirt like sand so it’s easy to pick up and leaves the grade flat no humps

Unless it's just completely out of your price range then I wouldn't cheap out on something like this, go with the big high powered unit all day long. Just because the little dingo worked well in soft ideal conditions doesn't mean it will get the job done when things get tougher with hard terrain, rocks, hammering, grappling, etc. The extra money will be worth it in the long haul plus I would assume much better longevity and resale value cuz you're not hammering it to its max constantly. Much higher reach, etc... Besides, you make 35k on most of your jobs anyway, right Dave.... Ha. Maybe you should rent the 2 you liked the best several more times in different conditions before you make a decision.

I have seen all of those machines in action in person. I have no brand loyalty but was not impressed with the toro. The side by side demos I saw with the Vermeer, toro , and bobcat were very impressive for Vermeer to say the least. Friend of mine went with the Vermeer even though it was more money. But think of it this way, your going to have it for a while even though you might not need the extra power and lift capacity now, you will at some point. You’ll find yourself using it more and more and making its money back in no time.

I guess if you are going to do a comparison between the different manufacturers of mini skid steers, it's important to compare apples to apples. Here you have a Vermeer CTX-100 and a Toro Dingo TX-427 which are two different sized machines in the way of build and capacity. What you should be comparing it the Vermeer CTX-100 to the Toro Dingo TX-1000 and the Bobcat MT-85 where all specs are of comparable value. The Dingo here is half the lifting ability of the Vermeer. At any rate, every job may have a different situation with accessibility and material being brought in or removed, so different machines will be warranted for that particular application. It's not a one all machine is perfect for everything. Big job, big machine. Small job, small machine. Affordability is also a contributing factor. I would love to have that Vermeer! The reality is, I couldn't afford it. Toro Dingo TX-427, TX-525 and the Bobcat MT-55 are more in my price range, and that's a good used unit. I would take any of them in a heartbeat, especially with the availability of attachments. It's way better than manual work (shovel and wheelbarrow) Cheers!

Skidsteers have tires. Mini track loaders have tracks. None of those machines are skidsteers. I spent about a year looking at all these machines and ended up with an 05 bobcat 463. (Same as the s70) The previous owner upgraded to 41" wide bucket and tires. (Was 36) A skid steer won't work as good in sugar sand.. I'll give you that. But my 463 takes way less energy than balancing on the back of one of those, faster top speed, dumps higher, and was considerably cheaper. I've moved over 40 yds of fill into back yards in subdivisions with my 463. I'd hate to try on one of those.
