What are the failure rates for Mr Cool? I'm thinking that if I install a Mini Split in new construction, the refrigerant lines will not be accessible if either the indoor or outdoor unit fails. If that's the case, is it worthwhile to go with the pre-charged lines? Say I got a replacement unit under warrantee. How do you remove the old unit and dispose of the refrigerant per EPA rules?

Failure rates of Mr. Cool depend on a lot of factors. The two main factors to failure rate is lack of maintenance and electrical surges. If you maintain your system yearly (not just filter washes) and clean the coils and the components, and install a surge protector, you should be able to avoid the majority of breakdowns. Typically you wouldn't have to replace the indoor units unless they have a leaking coil. Even then you could replace just the coil. However, you are correct in any event you would need access to the line-set connections if you bury the lines in the walls and need to replace the indoor unit in the future. We advise our customers to have an access panel wherever you can for events like these.
