Thank you so much for this install. I try to watch those DIY channels but really get nothing of value as there is always a dog or music playing or you have to hear a story of their life. The step by step instruction preformed by the knowledgeable technician was very clear. The information about the line set was an important tech tip .

Excellent video. I'm currently having a garage built, and I'm trying to decide between through-the-wall and mini-split for cooling... and maybe the one or two days a year I might need heat, here in Florida. The main issue with mini-split seems to be cost, and a big part of that is cost of installation, so I'm starting to understand why Mr. Cool is a bit pricier than some -- it's got nearly everything you need in the kit and the pre-pressurized lines allow self-installation, at least if you're experienced at home improvement/repair. Thanks for making this, it's really helpful.

Mini splits are great because its not very intrusive to your build. You drill a 2.5" hole and that is all, while a PTAC through the wall would require you to find an exact match sized unit if you need to replace it in the future. Plus, mini splits are more efficient to run so your utility bill will be less. Thanks for watching

Awesome video!!! Because the line sets are round (Diameter) sitting horizontal makes a difference? My line sets didn’t come with protected caps. does that damage the refrigerate? Nothing seems to be damage but I’m curious.
@gotductlessusa6 ай бұрын
Yes, sitting horizontal makes a huge difference due to oil traps. That destroys the compressor over time. No, the caps are just protective. You have to open the valves to access the refrigerant

Hello. The weekend past 11/22/24 I installed a brand new single zone 36000 Btu Mr cool unit. The line coming out of the compressor is hot, but the air coming from the air handler inside is not warming the room at all, 60*, even though the unit is set at 80*, outdoor temp is 45*. What steps to take to see if there is a reset to cure problem, or if the unit is defective? Thank you. I check all the lines with soap solution after tightening them and detected no leaks. I assume that the right amount of refrigerant was pumped into the lines and the compressor.
@gotductlessusa27 күн бұрын
There might be two issues at play. 1) what is the size of the room? just want to make sure you have the correct size unit in that space. 2) if there are no leaks at the connections and there were no problems at start up, there could be a leak in one of the pieces of equipment. Which unit did you purchase? There may be a labor warranty included. Feel free to call us at 866-399-0206.

@ The 36,000 single zone is rated for 1500 square feet. It will not condition half that area.

Thank you for the info. I have a 16x11x8’ ceiling sun room. Three of the walls are 6’ slat windows will the 9k be sufficient or should I get a 12k unit? I live in Chicago. I will be covering the windows in the winter with marine grade vinyl
@gotductlessusa3 ай бұрын
if you are unsure go with the higher size. You don't want to install a unit that will be insufficient. It will kill your efficiency gains.
@langejdenny3 ай бұрын
Read it takes more btus to heat my space like just under 700. I'm thinking a 24k unit

Thank you for the video. Can I install the indoor unit with the line set coming out of the left side and out the wall to the outdoor unit? So looking at it from the front and the line set coming out the left side along the wall then outside? So I will not be drilling holes behind the indoor unit.
@gotductlessusa3 ай бұрын
Yes, you can. Just make sure you are not kinking the line-set when turning it outside
@nimster643 ай бұрын
@@gotductlessusa it will go straight out no bending involved. The connection will be behind the indoor unit because it doesn’t reach all the way. So the line set will be running to the left not left rear
@CristhianGallo-romero-zb3kq4 ай бұрын
Since this is a prepressured…. Are you not allowed to cut the copper lines down so there won’t be to rolled up?
@gotductlessusa4 ай бұрын
You cannot cut it shorter since it is pre-pressured. That is why we coiled it horizontally under the outdoor unit.

Oversizing a mini split to a certain extent is fine. They ramp down to in effect reduce cooling capacity.
@gotductlessusa7 ай бұрын
This is true. The main concern with oversizing is humidity control.
@theprimalone6034Ай бұрын
That's a non issue on mini splits unless you're way over sizing them. They have variable capacity based on load
@WeSRT4Ай бұрын
@@theprimalone6034 Exactly right... an oversized Mini Split may not remove as much moisture on the initial cool due to cooling the area down faster. Once this is done the until will ramp way back and remove the humidity over time.

So this unit is a 115V what kind of electrical connection do i need to get a quote for? 20amp single pole with a 30amp ac disconnect? Or will a 60am disconnect do?
@gotductlessusa8 ай бұрын
60 amp disconnect is most common. 20 amp single pole breaker
@djfergusonjr5 ай бұрын
@@gotductlessusa Shouldn't it be a GFCI 20 amp breaker?

Have a question - I need to install 12 k unit in one bed room inside the rooms, so I cannot run line set outside directly but rather through attic to condenser, which means line set will go vertically up from air handler unit to the attic . Is that ok.
@gotductlessusa6 ай бұрын
Yes, the line-set can go vertically as long as you have a plan for the condensate line. That either needs to be go directly outside or you need to install a pump to push water to wherever you can drain the water.

Hi. I like your videos and the info is great. I have a question. I am located in northern Ohio and our winter temps go below zero often. I have a 24x48 out building that I built a room inside of that is 12x24. The walls to the room are insulated with R21. The ceiling is R30. And the floor is concrete with R10 insulation. There are no windows and one insulated man door to the room. I need to be able to maintain 80° F in this room year round. I'm looking at 12,000 btu hyper heat models in either mitsubishi or Cooper hunter. What are your thoughts on the units? Also it seems that mitsubishi has 2 different units avaliable part numbers are. MZ-FS212NA MZ-FS212NAH Not seeing a difference between these two units. Thanks in advance
@gotductlessusa11 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! It is hard to compare a Mitsubishi and a Cooper hunter. Mitsubishi has fantastic mechanics and equally great tech support, while Cooper Hunter is a low-end budget brand with minimal tech support. We have seen Mitsubishi's last up to 30 years, and we have seen Cooper Hunter's compressors die within a week. Price is probably the only thing CH has over Mitsubishi. However, add up service and maintenance charges, and you very well might be at the same price. The difference between MUZ-FS12NA and MSZ-FS12NAH is that the MSZ-FS12NAH comes with a built in base pan heater on the outdoor unit. This ensures your system is not freezing up when there is snow/ice. Hope that is helpful!
@antalkaroy68209 ай бұрын
If I want to heat it outdoors, there should be a heating element. We need a machine that can heat up to -22 degrees Celsius.@@gotductlessusa
@KeithEtheredge877 ай бұрын
Great video! Question... You show mounting the condenser unit on a wall bracket and talk about the importance of coiling excess line set length under the unit to avoid creating oil traps in the line. How does that work with a concrete pad / ground installation? I don't think we have the luxury of space under the unit to do that anymore.
@gotductlessusa7 ай бұрын
Maybe consider installing your outdoor unit a little further from the house to allow the line-set to horizontally lay coiled behind the unit?
@antalkaroy68209 ай бұрын
Master and the vacuuming should not? 2 years and the compressor will be short-circuited!!!!!
@gotductlessusa9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! This is a DIY system that has quick connections and pre-charged line-sets. Since the lines and the equipment are never exposed to the elements, and they come pressurized, there is no need to vacuum at start up. That is why it is DIY!
