Thank you for this video, just connected to NBN (FTTP). I have used Telstra's smart modems, first one didn't work, new one dropped out every few minutes. You informed us that we only require a wireless router for FTTP, so connected my Apple Airport Extreme and pleased to say it works 100% and not one drop out in two days since connecting it. Again thank you as you are the only person to give this information . I have subscribed .

I have the cobra ac5300.. have the NBN FTTN Connection on iiNet. Does this modem have the ability to login as I get a WAN lock-on but internet connection seems to flash continuously and not connect.. I have tried to move all details from my existing iiNet modem into this modem in the hopes it will work.. however I'm missing one small detail and not sure what it is. Now my understanding is I either need to use a username and password using a pppoe connection or a dhcp without username and password. Can anyone confirm what connection type I need to use to connect to NBN FTTN... The modem is also updated to the latest firmware too. Thanks.

Hey Gary, I am fairly sure iiNet FTTN connections are DHCP and do not require PPPoE connection details. I have a number of iiNet connections through my work and all of them are DHCP, rather than PPPoE. I also have a few Internode connections which utilise PPPoE and they work with this modem as well. At home, I am currently with Launtel, of whom utilise DHCP. If in doubt, iiNet should be able to easily clarify this for you. I would do a factory reset and go through the wizard from scratch.

Separate the modem from the router, use an open source firewall/router like pfSense and it will blow away any consumer product

Yes, that is correct. Try to get one that supports VDSL2 if possible. Most of them do.
