LR Defender is one of my favorite cars, all because of its peculiar looks, ruggedness yet premium, bold, muscular and above all, outstanding off-roading capabilities. This vehicle is one of the best camping cars.

I saw a white 110 today and I must say that it is very beautiful in person!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. It looked really really good n it had the same spec as this one but it was white with the white spare wheel cover on back. It was absolutely stunning in person. N it was big!! I showed my wife while on FaceTime and she liked it too. Might have to look into the 110 X
@MonstaMunch1013 жыл бұрын
You missed the main off roading point of short wheel base vs long: The breakover angle. This is the primary factor that will allow the 90 to go where the 110 can't.

I'm an Englishman and have had three LRs - Evoque, Velar and RR Sport and never had a single thing go wrong with any of them in over ten years of ownership. Guess I must be lucky or the unreliability talk is simply because those who do have problems, go on and on an on about it. I am sure there are more satisfied buyers than not.

Too many options by far so here's my answer. How much do you want to spend what fuel? Answer those first and the options open to you immediately reduce to a manageable choice. I saw a new 90 in a field at a shoot the other week and was amazed by its size. Huge!

Coil springs on the 110 wpuld be my choice but for some reason LR doesn't offer them on the 110
@ahua3 жыл бұрын
The do offer the coils on the 110. In fact it’s standard on several trims and to get the air suspension, it’s an added cost. I’m certain of this because I was so informed by the Land Rover dealership when I recently test drove one.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix3 жыл бұрын
@@ahua from what I've read and based on the reviews I've watched they all say they only offer coils on the 90. But maybe they were wrong. If so that's good news because I'd much rather have coils so I could put a lift and still have some suspension travel.
@tonyrusso72923 жыл бұрын
Coil Is it 1962 ?
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix3 жыл бұрын
@@tonyrusso7292 no, but anybody with any sense of knowledge of offroading would choose coils. Air suspension fails, and it always fails in the worst place, and it has practically zero articulation or downward travel in offroad height. You might as well have no suspension. If your 4x4 is going to be a pavement princess, air suspension is fine. And since you seem to think coils are so outdated you have a pretty narrow choice of cars seeing that most of them use coils. Now if I said leaf springs then I could see some relevance in your comment.

I wish they would swap sides on the ladder and exterior side storage bin... here in North America, that optional exterior storage bin makes the blind spot even worse (since the driver is on the left side). And on that same note, I wish the rear door hinged/swing on the left side... so when you're parallel parked, it's just more logical NOT having to walk around the door to get to the sidewalk when unloading stuff

I'm thinking about a Defender. I think there are fewer options in the US, no diesel, for example. (Hopefully, the steering wheel is on the "correct" side. :) Hesitations: Reliability, of course; but aside from high prices, I do think the Defender is too big. The 110 is about the same size as a Jeep Grand Cherokee with about the same poor mpg. Seems like LR has about 5 mid-size SUV models - confusing. I love the designerly styling. Hard to resist. (Wish for a more AMG-like - mechanical looking - steering wheel though, please.)

I think this car is more about the image people want to portray rather what it actually is. It's an out doorsy, family orientated, load up with a kayak and steam through some tight, muddy english country roads image. But the most challenging rd these are going to see is the one with the pot hole whilst on the school run. At this price point how many are going to dragged through bushes or over gravel. Stuffed with modern electronic junk. It's another range rover with an image twist not a utility vehicle. I really think they missed the boat on this, get rid of the leather, make it reasonable price and reliable this could have been a real icon. Instead it's a play on people's need for an image rather than being of any real practical use, like so much in modern life. Just my opinion and I'm sure they'll sell loads of em.....

yeah, here in Downtown Vancouver... all of a sudden, I'm seeing them left and right... as if... it's now more hip to drive one of these instead of a Range Rover... I’ve had my Defender 110 now for 5 months and if I could I would take it back. So many manufacturing errors. Welds that weren’t done properly that have broken. Missing clips to hold panels on, panel gaps that are insane, An emergency breaking feature that has stopped me in traffic twice for no reason while the flow was 65mph, and ELKA that swerves you into the next lane for no reason. All my safety features are now turned off because they don’t work and actually try to kill you. Fuck this vehicle. Buy a 4Runnner or a Land Cruiser. Do NOT buy a Defender.
